Boosting polyp screening with improved point-teacher weakly semi-supervised

Polyps, like a silent time bomb in the gut, are always lurking and can explode into deadly colorectal cancer at any time. Many methods are attempted to maximize the early detection of colon polyps by screening, however, there are still face some challenges: (i) the scarcity of per-pixel annotation data and clinical features such as the blurred boundary and low contrast of polyps result in poor performance. (ii) existing weakly semi-supervised methods directly using pseudo-labels to supervise student tend to ignore the value brought by intermediate features in the teacher. To adapt the point-prompt teacher model to the challenging scenarios of complex medical images and limited annotation data, we creatively leverage the diverse inductive biases of CNN and Transformer to extract robust and complementary representation of polyp features (boundary and context). At the same time, a novel designed teacher–student intermediate feature distillation method is introduced rather than just using pseudo-labels to guide student learning. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed method effectively handles scenarios with limited annotations and exhibits good segmentation performance. Image Moment Invariants to Rotational Motion Blur

Rotational motion blur caused by the circular motion of the camera or/and object is common in life. Identifying objects from images affected by rotational motion blur is challenging because this image degradation severely impacts image quality. Therefore, it is meaningful to develop image invariant features under rotational motion blur and then use them in practical tasks, such as object classification and template matching. This paper proposes a novel method to generate image moment invariants under general rotational motion blur and provides some instances. Further, we achieve their invariance to similarity transform. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that moment invariants for rotational motion blur have been proposed in the literature. We conduct extensive experiments on various image datasets disturbed by similarity transform and rotational motion blur to test these invariants’ numerical stability and robustness to image noise. We also demonstrate their performance in image classification and handwritten digit recognition. Current state-of-the-art blur moment invariants and deep neural networks are chosen for comparison. DuMo: Dual Encoder Modulation Network for Precise Concept Erasure

The exceptional generative capability of text-to-image models has raised substantial safety concerns regarding the generation of Not-Safe-For-Work (NSFW) content and potential copyright infringement. To address these concerns, previous methods safeguard the models by eliminating inappropriate concepts. Nonetheless, these models alter the parameters of the backbone network and exert considerable influences on the structural (low-frequency) components of the image, which undermines the model’s ability to retain non-target concepts. In this work, we propose our Dual encoder Modulation network (DuMo), which achieves precise erasure of inappropriate target concepts with minimum impairment to non-target concepts. In contrast to previous methods, DuMo employs the Eraser with PRior Knowledge (EPR) module which modifies the skip connection features of the U-NET and primarily achieves concept erasure on details (high-frequency) components of the image. To minimize the damage to non-target concepts during erasure, the parameters of the backbone U-NET are frozen and the prior knowledge from the original skip connection features is introduced to the erasure process. Meanwhile, the phenomenon is observed that distinct erasing preferences for the image structure and details are demonstrated by the EPR at different timesteps and layers. Therefore, we adopt a novel Time-Layer MOdulation process (TLMO) that adjusts the erasure scale of EPR module’s outputs across different layers and timesteps, automatically balancing the erasure effects and model’s generative ability. Our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on Explicit Content Erasure (detecting only 34 nude parts), Cartoon Concept Removal (with an average LPIPSda of 0.428, 0.113 higher than SOTA at 0.315), and Artistic Style Erasure (with an average LPIPSda of 0.387, 0.088 higher than SOTA at 0.299), clearly outperforming alternative methods. The Cauchy loss function is robust to large outliers and has successful applications in signal processing. In this paper, a DOA estimation algorithm based on adaptive zero technology is proposed, which updates the weight of the filter by applying the Cauchy loss function, and further improves the algorithm performance by using the variable step size method. The algorithm step size is adjusted by accumulating errors and establishing a nonlinear function with instantaneous errors. The DOA estimation ability, estimation error and accuracy of the improved Cauchy algorithm in the impulse noise environment are analyzed. The algorithm is verified by simulation experiments.

The paper presents a novel circular polarization(CP) antenna loading with a parasitic ring metal strip, which is designed for global positioning system (GPS) L1 band applications. The antenna consists of a defected ground plane with four arc-slots and a circular slot, a dielectric substrate, a parasitic ring metal strip, and a radiating patch (RP) with a arc-slot. By rotating the parasitic ring metal strip to opening slot on the RP, the antenna can be transformed from left-handed circular polarization (LHCP) to right-handed circular polarization (RHCP). The size of the antenna can be reduced by using slots on the ground. The simulation and optimization results show that impedance bandwidth of the L/RHCP antenna is over 100 MHz, and the axial ratio bandwidth is over 20 MHz.

Anisotropic Infrared Absorption in Monolayer Black Phosphorus Metasurface With/Without Local Oxidative Effect

As one kind of anisotropic two-dimensional (2-D) layered material, the monolayer black phosphorus (BP) has ability to excite the surface plasmon resonance in the infrared spectrum, thus providing sufficient conditions for the strong light-matter interaction, so that some potential applications can be shown in the field of optoelectronics. Based on those physical properties, we design the patterned monolayer BP to achieve extremely high infrared absorption, and meanwhile use the finite element method to model the effects of factors such as n-type doping concentration, dielectric thickness, and angle of incidence light. Moreover, due to the strong anisotropic in-plane properties of monolayer BP, we analyze detailedly the absorption spectra in both the armchair and zigzag directions separately, and then understand that low-angle narrow-band absorption in the zigzag direction could be captured in that structure. The structure could achieve perfect absorption in the zigzag direction at an incidence angle of 89.3° with n-type doping concentration n=3×1013 cm-2 and medium thickness d = 4.6 μm, and the maximum absorption can reach 99.98% with the full width at half peak (FWHM) of only 0.57 μm. Considering the case on surface oxidation, it may occur some possible effects for the perfect absorption, but with our structure, the proposed narrow-band absorption still has wide applications in the sensing and light body monitoring. © 2023, The Authors. A control circuit for active metasurface based on varactor diode is designed in this paper. By varying the reverse bias voltage on the varactor diode, the designed circuit can regulate the additional phase of the active meta-atoms. The circuit adopts a form of one master and multiple slaves, which can simultaneously control the bias voltage of 960 meta-atoms. Each slave can control up to 64 channels. The control accuracy is 0.04V. The power consumption of a single slave is 160mW. Though experiment verification, the circuit has a good effect in controlling the beam deflection of the metasurface and generating OAM beams.

Tokenizer, serving as a translator to map the intricate visual data into a compact latent space, lies at the core of visual generative models. Based on the finding that existing tokenizers are tailored to image or video inputs, this paper presents OmniTokenizer, a transformer-based tokenizer for joint image and video tokenization. OmniTokenizer is designed with a spatial-temporal decoupled architecture, which integrates window and causal attention for spatial and temporal modeling. To exploit the complementary nature of image and video data, we further propose a progressive training strategy, where OmniTokenizer is first trained on image data on a fixed resolution to develop the spatial encoding capacity and then jointly trained on image and video data on multiple resolutions to learn the temporal dynamics. OmniTokenizer, for the first time, handles both image and video inputs within a unified framework and proves the possibility of realizing their synergy. Extensive experiments demonstrate that OmniTokenizer achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) reconstruction performance on various image and video datasets, e.g., 1.11 reconstruction FID on ImageNet and 42 reconstruction FVD on UCF-101, beating the previous SOTA methods by 13% and 26%, respectively. Additionally, we also show that when integrated with OmniTokenizer, both language model-based approaches and diffusion models can realize advanced visual synthesis performance, underscoring the superiority and versatility of our method.

In this paper, we introduce a new self-adaptive subgradient extragradient algorithm with inertial effects for variational inequality, for which the stepsize is chosen by a new way. The weak convergence of the algorithm is established.
