A compact dual polarization dipole antenna for the application to 5G base station is investigated, which is composed of radiator, baluns, and metal reflector, having an impendence bandwidth of 23.6% with VSWR<1.5. The dual-polarized antenna has a high ports isolation, high cross-polarization and high gain in operating bandwidth. The results indicate that this work can operate in entire N78 band and provide potential application for 5G base station.

In this paper, a band-pass plasmonic filter based on Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) waveguides and its modified structures are designed and investigated theoretically and numerically. The filter consists of two circular ring resonator and its modified structures which has narrow gaps in the middle of resonant rings. To study their performance in different structures, propagation modes of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are investigated. In outer gapped model, we found that the transmission in different resonant modes can be effectively tuned by varying the gap width, and the transmission peak wavelength is nonlinear with the gap width. The results are obtained by high-order symplectic FDTD (SFDTD) algorithm which is non-dissipative and has low dispersion error. The structure with double gaps in both external and internal rings have potential applications in plasmonic integrated circuits, because of its characteristic of a single narrow band-pass with high transmittance. The introduced structures may provide a novel method for the design of devices in highly integrated optical circuits.

Protein structure prediction has achieved considerable progresses mainly due to the increased accuracy of inter-residue distance estimation and the application of deep learning *** of the distance-based ab initio prediction approaches adopt a two-step diagram: constructing a potential function based on the estimated inter-residue distances, and then build a 3D structure that minimizes the potential function. These approaches have proven very promising;however, they still suffer from several limitations, especially the inaccuracies incurred by the handcrafted potential ***, we present SASA-Net, a deep learning-based approach that directly learns protein 3D structure from the estimated inter-residue distances. Unlike the existing approach simply representing protein structures as coordinates of atoms, SASA-Net represents protein structures using pose of residues, i.e., the coordinate system of each individual residue in which all backbone atoms of this residue are fixed. The key element of SASA-Net is a spatial-aware self-attention mechanism, which is able to adjust a residue's pose according to all other residues' features and the estimated distances between residues. By iteratively applying the spatial-aware self-attention mechanism, SASA-Net continuously improves the structure and finally acquires a structure with high accuracy. Using the CATH35 proteins as representatives, we demonstrate that SASA-Net is able to accurately and efficiently build structures from the estimated inter-residue distances. The high accuracy and efficiency of SASA-Net enables an end-to-end neural network model for protein structure prediction through combining SASA-Net and an neural network for inter-residue distance prediction. As a pivotal technique in intelligent education systems, cognitive diagnosis (CD) serves to reveal students’ knowledge proficiency for better tackling subsequent tasks. Unfortunately, due to pursuing high model interpretability, existing manually designed models for CD often hold simplistic architectures, which cannot cope with intricate data in modern education platforms. Furthermore, the bias of human design limits the emergence of novel and effective CD models. To develop interpretable and more effective models, thus this paper proposes an evolutionary multi-objective neural architecture search (NAS) approach for CD. Specifically, we first adopt a comprehensive search space for the NAS task of CD: all candidate models can be encompassed by a general model that deals with three distinct types of inputs. Then, an innovative model interpretability objective is devised to formulate the architecture search task as a bi-objective optimization problem (BOP). To solve the BOP, we employ a multi-objective genetic programming (MOGP) as the search strategy to explore the search space. To make the employed MOGP search well, all architectures are first encoded by trees for easy optimization, and we devise a genetic operation and a population initialization strategy to expedite its convergence. Finally, the proposed approach is actually a MOGP-based NAS approach for CD. Extensive experiments show that CD models searched by the proposed approach exhibit significantly better performance than existing models and hold as good interpretability as handcrafted models. Wideband 10-port mimo antenna array for 5g metal-frame smartphone applications

A wideband 10-port multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna array operated below 6 GHz for the fifth generation (5G) metal-frame smartphones is presented and discussed in this paper. The proposed MIMO antenna array element is composed of a microstrip line with a tuning stub and rectangular slot. The size of the rectangular slot is only 15 mm × 2 mm (0.211λ0 × 0.028λ0, and λ0 is the wavelength with the resonance frequency of 4.2 GHz). U-shaped slots on the substrate are used to reduce the mutual coupling between the antenna elements. At the same time, in order to improve the radiation characteristics of the antenna arrays, narrow slits are etched in the metal-frame. With the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT), computation offloading collaboration has become an important solution to address the data processing challenges faced by resource-constrained devices. However, security and privacy issues have become a major concern in the computation offloading collaboration process. This paper proposes a blockchain-assisted computation offloading collaboration scheme, Blockchain-Assisted Computation Offloading Collaboration (BACOC). The scheme uses blockchain technology to assist computation offloading collaboration under IoT conditions to fortify security and resilience during the computation offloading process. At the same time, a hierarchical game model based on Stackelberg game theory and contract theory is adopted to determine the optimal service pricing strategy. Experimental and simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the BACOC scheme. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Real-world datasets are typically imbalanced in the sense that only a few classes have numerous samples, while many classes are associated with only a few samples. As a result, a naïve ERM learning process will be biased towards the majority classes, making it difficult to generalize to the minority classes. To address this issue, one simple but effective approach is to modify the loss function to emphasize the learning on minority classes, such as re-weighting the losses or adjusting the logits via class-dependent terms. However, existing generalization analysis of such losses is still coarse-grained and fragmented, failing to explain some empirical results. To bridge this gap, we propose a novel technique named data-dependent contraction to capture how these modified losses handle different classes. On top of this technique, a fine-grained generalization bound is established for imbalanced learning, which helps reveal the mystery of re-weighting and logit-adjustment in a unified manner. Furthermore, a principled learning algorithm is developed based on the theoretical insights. Finally, the empirical results on benchmark datasets not only validate the theoretical results but also demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023 Neural information processing systems foundation. We presents a squared sine functioned adaptive (SSA) algorithm for acoustic-echo-cancellation (AEC) applications in-presence-of impulsive noise. In the development of the SSA algorithm, a novel cost function is constructed by exerting a sliding window type squared sine function on the estimation error vector, which provides robustness in the impulsive-noise environments and speed-ups convergence when the input is colored signals. Theoretical models for predicting the mean-weight-behavior, transient excess-mean-square-error (EMSE) behavior, and tracking behavior are presented. Moreover, the optimal step size and minimum EMSE of the tracking performance are provided. The computation complexity of SSA algorithm has also been investigated. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the theoretical results match well with simulation results and show the superiority of the proposed SSA algorithm against known algorithms in AEC applications. © 2023, CC BY.

The noncontact detection methods of blood volume pulse (BVP) based on facial videos have become a hot spot in recent years. However, these kinds of methods are highly sensitive to face movement. To address this problem, a novel BVP detection method based on kanade-Iucas-tomasi (KLT) and independent component analysis (ICA) was proposed, in which, KLT method was employed for tracking and locating the region of interest (ROI) in facial images, and ICA method was used to improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR) of BVP signal. Based on 120 recorded facial videos, we carried out the comparative study of the proposed method and other commonly-used methods, the experimental results show that our method has obvious advantages in eliminating motion interference. In the implementation of the blind source separation method, we also conducted four separation methods. The results show that the second order blind identification (SOBI) algorithm is the best one to separate the BVP signal. © 2019 IEEE.

Recent advances in image editing techniques have posed serious challenges to the trustworthiness of multimedia data, which drives the research of image tampering detection. In this paper, we propose ObjectFormer to detect and localize image manipulations. To capture subtle manipulation traces that are no longer visible in the RGB domain, we extract high-frequency features of the images and combine them with RGB features as multimodal patch embeddings. Additionally, we use a set of learnable object prototypes as mid-level representations to model the object-level consistencies among different regions, which are further used to refine patch embeddings to capture the patch-level consistencies. We conduct extensive experiments on various datasets and the results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, outperforming state-of-the-art tampering detection and localization methods.
