The existing single-pulse search algorithms for fast radio bursts (FRBs) do not adequately consider the frequency bandpass pattern of the pulse, rendering them incomplete for the relatively narrow-spectrum detection of pulses. We present a new search algorithm for narrow-band pulses to update the existing standard pipeline, Bandpass-Adaptive Single-pulse SEarch Toolkit (BASSET). The BASSET employs a time-frequency correlation analysis to identify and remove the noise involved by the zero-detection frequency band, thereby enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the pulses. The BASSET algorithm was implemented on the FAST real dataset of FRB 20190520B, resulting in the discovery of additional 79 pulses through reprocessing. The new detection doubles the number of pulses compared to the previously known 75 pulses, bringing the total number of pulses to 154. In conjunction with the pulse calibration and the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) simulated injection experiments, this work updates the quantified parameter space of the detection rate. Moreover, a parallel-accelerated version of the BASSET code was provided and evaluated through simulation. BASSET has the capacity of enhancing the detection sensitivity and the SNR of the narrow-band pulses from the existing pipeline, offering high performance and flexible applicability. BASSET not only enhances the completeness of the low-energy narrow-band pulse detection in a more robust mode, but also has the potential to further elucidate the FRB luminosity function at a wider energy scale. Robust unsupervised feature selection by nonnegative sparse subspace learning

Sparse subspace learning has been demonstrated to be effective in data mining and machine learning. In this paper, we cast the unsupervised feature selection scenario as a matrix factorization problem from the viewpoint of sparse subspace learning. By minimizing the reconstruction residual, the learned feature weight matrix with the l 2,1 -norm and the non-negative constraints not only removes the irrelevant features, but also captures the underlying low dimensional structure of the data points. Meanwhile in order to enhance the model's robustness, l 1 -norm error function is used to resistant to outliers and sparse noise. An efficient iterative algorithm is introduced to optimize this non-convex and non-smooth objective function and the proof of its convergence is given. Although, there is a subtraction item in our multiplicative update rule, we validate its non-negativity. The superiority of our model is demonstrated by comparative experiments on various original datasets with and without malicious pollution.

Digital personal health libraries: A systematic literature review

Objective: This paper gives context on recent literature regarding the development of digital personal health libraries (PHL) and provides insights into the potential application of consumer health informatics in diverse clinical specialties. Materials and Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. Here, 2,850 records were retrieved from PubMed and EMBASE in March 2020 using search terms: personal, health, and library. Information related to the health topic, target population, study purpose, library function, data source, data science method, evaluation measure, and status were extracted from each eligible study. In addition, knowledge discovery methods, including co-occurrence analysis and multiple correspondence analysis, were used to explore research trends of PHL. Results: After screening, this systematic review focused on a dozen articles related to PHL. These encompassed health topics such as infectious diseases, congestive heart failure, electronic prescribing. data science methods included relational database, information retrieval technology, ontology construction technology. Evaluation measures were heterogeneous regarding PHL functions and settings. At the time of writing, only one of the PHLs described in these articles is available for the public while the others are either prototypes or in the pilot stage. Discussion: Although PHL researches have used different methods to address problems in diverse health domains, there is a lack of an effective PHL to meet the needs of older adults. Conclusion: The development of PHLs may create an unprecedented opportunity for promoting the health of older consumers by providing diverse health information. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. Recently, patent data analysis has attracted a lot of attention, and patent keyword extraction is a hot problem. Most existing methods for patent keyword extraction are based on the frequency of words without semantic information. In this paper, we propose an Unsupervised keyword Extraction Method (UKEM) based on Chinese patent clustering. More specifically, we use a Skip-gram model to train word embeddings based on a Chinese patent corpus. Then each patent is represented as a vector called patent vector. These patent vectors are clustered to obtain several cluster centroids. Next, the distance between each word vector in patent abstract and cluster centroid is computed to indicate the semantic importance of this word. The experimental results on several Chinese patent datasets show that the performance of our proposed method is better than several competitive methods.

The Research on Balancing Theories and Mechanisms to Pervasive Information Systems (B2P) is one of the component studies of the Records-centered Digital Information Management Theory and Mechanisms (DI{R}Mtm) Project, which aims pointedly at synchronizing records/information related research interests with the evolution of information technologies and their joint impact on society. Due to the breakthroughs in cloud computing, big data, the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, ubiquitous/pervasive computing, conceived in 1988, has now been rapidly advanced. As its materialization in organizations, pervasive information systems (PISs) converges information technologies, data, digital operations and human actors and functions as the main channel for digital decisions. Digital decisions, therefore, are autonomous, algorithmic and penetrating, possessing influential abilities that are much greater than any single technology in human history, including the Internet. Such abilities make it a strong force for societal advancement, yet, at the same time, a potential hurdle – even harm – for decision recipients who are unaware of the decision-making methods. The B2P study is conceived as a reaction to this phenomenon. This paper gives an overview of the B2P study and calls for collaborations among researchers from the various fields relevant to the aims of the study, i.e., archival science, records management, information science, pubic administration, law, social sciences, and computer sciences. We report the first detection of polarization angle (PA) orthogonal jumps, a phenomenon previously only observed from radio pulsars, from a fast radio burst (FRB) source FRB 20201124A. We find three cases of orthogonal jumps in over two thousand bursts, all resembling those observed in pulsar single pulses. We propose that the jumps are due to the superposition of two orthogonal emission modes that could only be produced in a highly magnetized plasma, and they are caused by the line of sight sweeping across a rotating magnetosphere. The shortest jump timescale is of the order of one-millisecond, which hints that the emission modes come from regions smaller than the light cylinder of most pulsars or magnetars. This discovery provides convincing evidence that FRB emission originates from the complex magnetosphere of a magnetar, suggesting an FRB emission mechanism that is analogous to radio pulsars despite a huge luminosity difference between two types of objects. Heuristic black-box adversarial attacks on video recognition models

We study the problem of attacking video recognition models in the black-box setting, where the model information is unknown and the adversary can only make queries to detect the predicted top-1 class and its probability. Compared with the black-box attack on images, attacking videos is more challenging as the computation cost for searching the adversarial perturbations on a video is much higher due to its high dimensionality. To overcome this challenge, we propose a heuristic black-box attack model that generates adversarial perturbations only on the selected frames and regions. More specifically, a heuristic-based algorithm is proposed to measure the importance of each frame in the video towards generating the adversarial examples. Based on the frames’ importance, the proposed algorithm heuristically searches a subset of frames where the generated adversarial example has strong adversarial attack ability while keeps the perturbations lower than the given bound. Besides, to further boost the attack efficiency, we propose to generate the perturbations only on the salient regions of the selected frames. In this way, the generated perturbations are sparse in both temporal and spatial domains. Experimental results of attacking two mainstream video recognition methods on the UCF-101 dataset and the HMDB-51 dataset demonstrate that the proposed heuristic black-box adversarial attack method can significantly reduce the computation cost and lead to more than 28% reduction in query numbers for the untargeted attack on both datasets. This study investigated the dynamic changes in NiFe (hydr)oxide and identified the role of high-valent Fe in the oxygen-evolution reaction (OER) within alkaline media via in situ techniques. Several high-valent Fe ions were found to remain considerably stable in the absence of potential in NiFe (hydr)oxide, even 96 hours after the OER. For Ni 2+ hydroxide treated with 57 Fe ions, where Fe sites are introduced onto the surface of Ni 2+ hydroxide, no Fe 4+ species were detected at the rate-determining step (RDS). The findings of this study suggested that the oxidation of bulk Fe ions, similar to Ni ions, to high valent forms, is charge accumulation without a direct role in OER; these results offered a novel perspective on manipulating Fe states to optimize OER efficacy. The prevailing hypothesis suggested that trace amounts of high-valent Fe ions, notably those on the surface, directly participate in OER.

Side-chain engineering with heteroatoms is not only effective in tuning frontier molecular orbitals, but also possible for forming secondary bonds which can be utilized to planarize the molecular backbone, hence, improving the photon absorption as well as charge-transport abilities of polymer solar-cell (PSC) materials. Herein, two types of unconventional side chains, namely carboxylate and carbamate, containing various heteroatoms are introduced to the thiophene bridges in high performance benzodithiophene (BDT) based donor polymers to from the novel polymers PTzTz-C and PTzTz-N, respectively. In these polymers, non-covalent O⋅⋅⋅S and N⋅⋅⋅H interactions induce a high tendency to aggregation. In a ternary-blend PSC with PTzTz-N added to the high-performance D18 : BTP-eC9 blend, complimentary absorption and improved thin-film morphology were observed with a top power conversion efficiency of 18.76 %, which is an improvement of almost 5 % over the D18 : BTP-eC9 binary blends.
