Sequential pattern mining (SPM) with gap constraints (or repetitive SPM or tandem repeat discovery in bioinformatics) can find frequent repetitive subsequences satisfying gap constraints, which are called positive sequential patterns with gap constraints (PSPGs). However, classical SPM with gap constraints cannot find the frequent missing items in the PSPGs. To tackle this issue, this paper explores negative sequential patterns with gap constraints (NSPGs). We propose an efficient NSPG-Miner algorithm that can mine both frequent PSPGs and NSPGs simultaneously. To effectively reduce candidate patterns, we propose a pattern join strategy with negative patterns which can generate both positive and negative candidate patterns at the same time. To calculate the support (frequency of occurrence) of a pattern in each sequence, we explore a NegPair algorithm that employs a key-value pair array structure to deal with the gap constraints and the negative items simultaneously and can avoid redundant rescanning of the original sequence, thus improving the efficiency of the algorithm. To report the performance of NSPG-Miner, 11 competitive algorithms and 11 datasets are employed. The experimental results not only validate the effectiveness of the strategies adopted by NSPG-Miner, but also verify that NSPG-Miner can discover more valuable information than the state-ofthe-art algorithms. Task Delay and Energy Consumption Minimization for Low-altitude MEC via Evolutionary Multi-objective Deep Reinforcement Learning

The low-altitude economy (LAE), driven by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other aircraft, has revolutionized fields such as transportation, agriculture, and environmental monitoring. In the upcoming six-generation (6G) era, UAV-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) is particularly crucial in challenging environments such as mountainous or disaster-stricken areas. The computation task offloading problem is one of the key issues in UAV-assisted MEC, primarily addressing the trade-off between minimizing the task delay and the energy consumption of the UAV. In this paper, we consider a UAV-assisted MEC system where the UAV carries the edge servers to facilitate task offloading for ground devices (GDs), and formulate a calculation delay and energy consumption multi-objective optimization problem (CDECMOP) to simultaneously improve the performance and reduce the cost of the system. Then, by modeling the formulated problem as a multi-objective Markov decision process (MOMDP), we propose a multi-objective deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm within an evolutionary framework to dynamically adjust the weights and obtain non-dominated policies. Moreover, to ensure stable convergence and improve performance, we incorporate a target distribution learning (TDL) algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can better balance multiple optimization objectives and obtain superior non-dominated solutions compared to other methods. With the advancement of deep learning models nowadays, they have successfully applied in the semi-supervised medical image segmentation where there are few annotated medical images and a large number of unlabeled ones. A representative approach in this regard is the semi-supervised method based on consistency regularization, which improves model training by imposing consistency constraints (perturbations) on unlabeled data. However, the perturbations in this kind of methods are often artificially designed, which may introduce biases unfavorable to the model learning in the handling of medical image segmentation. On the other hand, the majority of such methods often overlook the supervision in the Encoder stage of training and primarily focus on the outcomes in the later stages, potentially leading to chaotic learning in the initial phase and subsequently impacting the learning process of the model in the later stages. At the meanwhile, they miss the intrinsic spatial-frequency information of the images. Therefore, in this study, we propose a new semi-supervised medical image segmentation approach based on frequency domain aware stable consistency regularization. Specifically, to avoid the bias introduced by artificially setting perturbations, we first utilize the inherent frequency domain information of images, including both high and low frequencies, as the consistency constraint. Secondly, we incorporate supervision in the Encoder stage of model training to ensure that the model does not fail to learn due to the disruption of the original feature space caused by strong augmentation. Finally, extensive experimentation validates the effectiveness of our semi-supervised approach.

Efficient, temperature-insensitive electromagnetic attenuation materials are critical for high microwave absorption at high temperatures. This study presents SiC/TiC/SiTiOC hybrid nanofiber mats constructed using an in-situ synthesis method;these mats incorporate SiC/TiC as the microwave loss unit and SiTiOC as the antioxidant unit, offering an innovative approach to high-temperature microwave absorption. The introduction of high-conductivity TiC not only optimizes the dielectric constant and impedance matching of the material but also enhances its thermal cycling stability. This design ensures steady electromagnetic attenuation, enabling the hybrid nanofiber mats to maintain robust absorption performance in the X-band, even at high temperatures. At 873 K, the material demonstrates an effective absorption bandwidth of 3.6 GHz and a minimum reflection loss of −45.55 dB. Compared to single-system absorbers, such as SiC/C nanofiber materials, with a single system, the multi-component SiC/TiC/SiTiOC hybrid nanofiber mats deliver reliable absorption performance in the temperature range of 293–873 K. This study confirms that highly conductive titanium-based ceramic materials used for dielectric property regulation effectively address the challenges of poor temperature stability and limited reusability in high-temperature carbon-ceramic absorbing materials, providing valuable insights and guidance for designing efficient microwave absorbers that can operate across a wide temperature range. © Science China Press 2025.

Multimodal Sentiment Analysis (MSA) is an attractive research that aims to integrate sentiment expressed in textual, visual, and acoustic signals. There are two main problems in the existing methods: 1) the dominant role of the text is underutilization in unaligned multimodal data, and 2) the modality under uncertain missing feature is not sufficiently explored. This paper proposes a Text-guided Reconstruction Network (TgRN) for MSA with uncertain missing modalities in non-aligned sequences. The TgRN network includes three primary modules: Text-guided Extraction Module (TEM), Reconstruction Module (RM) and Text-guided Fusion Module (TFM). First, the TEM consists of the text-guided cross attention units and self-attention units to capture inter-modal features and intra-modal features, respectively. Second, leveraging enhanced attention units and a three-way squeeze-and-excitation block, the RM is designed to learn semantic information from incomplete data and reconstruct missing modality features. Third, the TFM utilizes a progressive modality-mixing adaptation gate to explore the dynamic correlations between nonverbal and verbal modalities, effectively addressing the modality gap issue. Finally, under the supervision of sentiment prediction loss and reconstruction loss, the TgRN effectively processes both uncertain missing-modality conditions and ideal complete modality conditions. Extensive experiments on CMU-MOSI and CH-SIMS demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art approaches. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

Hot spot temperature optimization of micro-channel heat sinks enabled by designing vortex generators and realizing optimal flow pattern

Reduction of hot spot temperature is critical for electronic devices under high heat flux conditions. Micro-channel heat sinks (MCHSs) are commonly used in electronic cooling, with vortex generators introduced to enhance the heat transfer. However, existing convective heat transfer optimization equations are not consistent with the aim of hot spot temperature minimization, which are not efficient for design of vortex generators in MCHSs. To address this issue, the optimization equations with minimizing the hot spot temperature of MCHSs are developed, and a novel method is proposed to efficiently design vortex generators in MCHSs. The heat convection optimization equations aiming at hot spot temperature minimization of MCHSs under fixed power consumption are derived using variational method. The equations enable us to achieve the optimal flow field that guarantees a lower hot spot temperature than those obtained based on equations that aim at entropy generation minimization or entransy dissipation extremum in previous studies. The results reveal that the mechanism of hot spot temperature minimization in the rectangular channel is to induce four longitudinal vortices at the cross-section with specific rotations that drive more fluid to the heating surface. Furthermore, vortex generators composed of the inclined triangular-prism ribs and plates are inserted into the channel, which successfully constructs the optimal flow patterns matching the derived optimization equations. The generated similar longitudinal vortices are evidenced by numerical results. With mass flow rate at 0.1 g/s, the hot spot temperature of the MCHSs with the designed vortex generators is reduced by 32.7 K, and the maximum temperature rising decreases by 48 %, and the performance evaluation criterion increases by 60 % when compared to the channel without vortex generators. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have emerged as the potential aerial base stations (BSs) to improve terrestrial communications. However, the limited onboard energy and antenna power of a UAV restrict its communication range and transmission capability. To address these limitations, this work employs collaborative beamforming through a UAV-enabled virtual antenna array to improve transmission performance from the UAV to terrestrial mobile users, under interference from non-associated BSs and dynamic channel conditions. Specifically, we introduce a memory-based random walk model to more accurately depict the mobility patterns of terrestrial mobile users. Following this, we formulate a multi-objective optimization problem (MOP) focused on maximizing the transmission rate while minimizing the flight energy consumption of the UAV swarm. Given the NP-hard nature of the formulated MOP and the highly dynamic environment, we transform this problem into a multi-objective Markov decision process and propose an improved evolutionary multi-objective reinforcement learning algorithm. Specifically, this algorithm introduces an evolutionary learning approach to obtain the approximate Pareto set for the formulated MOP. Moreover, the algorithm incorporates a long short-term memory network and hyper-sphere-based task selection method to discern the movement patterns of terrestrial mobile users and improve the diversity of the obtained Pareto set. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively generates a diverse range of non-dominated policies and outperforms existing methods. Additional simulations demonstrate the scalability and robustness of the proposed CB-based method under different system parameters and various unexpected circumstances. © 2025, CC0.

Search Result Diversification Based on Query Facets

In search engines, different users may search for different information by issuing the same query. To satisfy more users with limited search results, search result diversification re-ranks the results to cover as many user intents as possible. Most existing intent-aware diversification algorithms recognize user intents as subtopics, each of which is usually a word, a phrase, or a piece of description. In this paper, we leverage query facets to understand user intents in diversification, where each facet contains a group of words or phrases that explain an underlying intent of a query. We generate subtopics based on query facets and propose faceted diversification approaches. Experimental results on the public TREC 2009 dataset show that our faceted approaches outperform state-of-the-art diversification models.

Indexing Future Trajectories of Moving Objects in a Constrained Network

Advances in wireless sensor networks and positioning technologies enable new applications monitoring moving objects. Some of these applications, such as traffic management, require the possibility to query the future trajectories of the objects. In this paper, we propose an original data access method, the ANR-tree, which supports predictive queries. We focus on real life environments, where the objects move within constrained networks, such as vehicles on roads. We introduce a simulation-based prediction model based on graphs of cellular automata, which makes full use of the network constraints and the stochastic traffic behavior. Our technique differs strongly from the linear prediction model, which has low prediction accuracy and requires frequent updates when applied to real traffic with velocity changing frequently. The data structure extends the R-tree with adaptive units which group neighbor objects moving in the similar moving patterns. The predicted movement of the adaptive unit is not given by a single trajectory, but instead by two trajectory bounds based on different assumptions on the traffic conditions and obtained from the simulation. Our experiments, carried on two different datasets, show that the ANR-tree is essentially one order of magnitude more efficient than the TPR-tree, and is much more scalable.

DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) startup, has released their V3 and R1 series models, which attracted global attention due to their low cost, high performance, and open-source advantages. This paper begins by reviewing the evolution of large AI models focusing on paradigm shifts, the mainstream large language model (LLM) paradigm, and the DeepSeek paradigm. Subsequently, the paper highlights novel algorithms introduced by DeepSeek, including multi-head latent attention (MLA), mixture-of-experts (MoE), multi-token prediction (MTP), and group relative policy optimization (GRPO). The paper then explores DeepSeek's engineering breakthroughs in LLM scaling, training, inference, and system-level optimization architecture. Moreover, the impact of DeepSeek models on the competitive AI landscape is analyzed, comparing them to mainstream LLMs across various fields. Finally, the paper reflects on the insights gained from DeepSeek's innovations and discusses future trends in the technical and engineering development of large AI models, particularly in data, training, and reasoning. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation.
