This paper models a platooning system consisting of trucks and a third-party service provider (TPSP), which performs platoon coordination, distributes the platooning profit in platoons, and charges trucks in exchange for the services. Government subsidies used to incentivize platooning are also considered. We propose a pricing rule for the TPSP, which keeps part of the platooning profit including the subsidy each time a platoon is formed. In addition, a platoon coordination solution based on the distributed model predictive control (MPC) is proposed, in which the pricing rule under government subsidies is integrated. We perform a realistic simulation over the Swedish road network to evaluate the impact of the pricing rule and subsidies on the achieved profits and fuel savings. Our results show that subsidies are an effective mean to boost fuel savings from platooning. Moreover, the simulation study indicates that high pricing corresponds to a low platooning rate of the system, as trucks' incentives for platooning decrease. © 2023 The Authors. Autonomous takeoff of flapping-wing robots (FWRs) is crucial for accelerating response speed and reducing costs in executing tasks. Jumping-aided takeoff is an effective method adopted by birds. However, the limited power density of motors poses challenges in achieving this type of takeoff for FWRs. In this study, we introduce a ground-based FWR ejecting system that utilizes a symmetric slider-crank mechanism (S-SCM) to store energy in spring. This stored energy is then converted into the takeoff speed of the FWR. The dynamic model of each working stage is established, and the design parameters are optimized according to simulation results. The prototype of the FWR ejecting system is fabricated for experimental validations. The results indicate that the system can provide a takeoff speed of 4 m/s for the 270 g FWR. Notably, the system is deployable on rough terrains and only adds a 3.2 g payload to the robot. Our work advances the autonomous takeoff of FWRs, promoting the application of such robots.

Grain size control in quasi-two-dimensional perovskite thin film via intermediate phase engineering for efficient bound exciton generation

Quasi-two dimensional(2D)perovskites have emerged as a promising class of materials due to their remarkable photoluminescence efficiency,which stems from their exceptionally high exciton binding *** spatial confinement of excitons within smaller grain sizes could enhance the formation of biexcitons leading to higher radiative recombination ***,the synthesis of high-quality quasi-2D perovskite thin films with controllable grain sizes remains a challenging *** this study,we present a facile method for achieving quasi-2D perovskite thin films with controllable grain sizes ranging from 500 to 900 *** is accomplished by intermediate phase engineering during the film fabrication *** results demonstrate that quasi-2D perovskite films with smaller grain sizes exhibit more efficient bound exciton generation and a reduced stimulated emission threshold down to 15.89µJ cm^(−2).Furthermore,femtosecond transient absorption measurements reveal that the decay time of bound excitons is shorter in quasi-2D perovskites with smaller grain sizes compared to that of those with larger grains at the same pump density,which is 230.5 *** observation suggests a more efficient exciton recombination process in the smaller grain size *** findings would offer a promising approach for the development of efficient bound exciton lasers.

The detection of the target board of ladle nozzle positioning is the basis of automatic loading and unloading of ladle nozzle by ladle robot in continuous casting. Due to the complex situation of high temperature, dust, backlight and so on, the target board of ladle nozzle positioning is prone to false detection or low detection accuracy, and it is difficult to take into account the contradiction between rapidity and detection accuracy. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved lightweight algorithm GVP-YOLOv5 (YOLOv5 with GhostNet, VoVGSCSP and Pruning), which takes into account both detection accuracy and rapidity, to detect the target board for ladle nozzle positioning. Firstly, Ghost module is used to improve the backbone network of YOLOv 5 as the backbone feature extraction network to reduce the number of parameters and calculation of the backbone. Then in the neck, the GSConv module is used to design a thin neck structure, which can ensure the multi-scale feature fusion capability and further reduce the complexity of the network. Finally, the model pruning technology is used to prune the whole model, and the channels with small scaling factor are removed to compress the model to the greatest extent, so as to meet the requirements of industrial field application deployment. The experimental results show that the lightweight GVP-YOLOv5 algorithm proposed in this paper can complete the real-time detection of the target board in complex industrial scenarios. Compared with the original YOLOv5s algorithm, the number of parameters in the model is reduced by 82.6 %, and the size of the model is significantly reduced to 19.4 %. At the same time, the detection accuracy is maintained at more than 95 % on mAP @ 50: 95 and the detection speed is effectively improved. © 2024 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

As a novel computing paradigm, the Vehicular Edge Computing (VEC) network provides an additional avenue for onboard task execution for connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) in unmanned systems. In a VEC network, CAVs can offload tasks to different external servers for execution and obtain results. However, existing task offloading studies only focus on the one-to-one offloading of onboard tasks to edge servers, ignoring the requirements of parallel task execution and security. In this paper, we propose a blockchain-based multi-destination cooperative task offloading architecture in a VEC network. Based on this architecture, we analyze the task offloading and blockchain models and formulate a multi-destination cooperative task offloading optimization problem. Finally, we compare the performance of different multi-destination task offloading methods in simulations and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed architecture and optimization. © 2023 IEEE.

As a highly developed region, Guangdong province has substantial industrial emissions. Its subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by abundant hydrothermal conditions, contributes to a substantial biomass potential. The adoption of potential biomass-based carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies, such as biochar, presents an opportunity to mitigate emissions and work towards carbon neutrality in the future. However, the current state of the land carbon balance and the CDR potential of biochar in Guangdong province remains unclear. We first calculated the land carbon balance based on inventory data. Then we estimated the CDR potential of biochar derived from agricultural residues, forestry residues, and bioenergy crops cultivated on marginal lands in Guangdong province using life cycle analysis (LCA). Results show that Guangdong province has not yet achieved carbon neutrality, with a net emission (carbon emissions remaining after offsetting by carbon sinks) of 925.63 Tg CO2e (CO2 equivalent, 1Tg = 106 t) in 2021. Emissions from energy consumption account for the highest proportion, contributing 83.8% of total emissions. In the highest biomass utilization scenario, the maximum CDR potential of biochar derived from all biomass types reaches 84.30 Tg CO2e yr-1, which could offset 9.11% of net carbon emissions in Guangdong province. Our findings provide crucial guidance for setting emission reduction targets and implementing effective mitigation strategies in Guangdong province under temperature warming. Enhancing the electrical performance of silicone rubber (SiR) for cable accessories is noteworthy as they are almost the weakest parts of the cable system. Two types of voltage stabilizers were grafted onto the surface of nano-zirconia (ZrO2) particles, and the grafted nanoparticles were added to the SiR. Measurements such as breakdown strength, and conductivity were carried out to evaluate the electrical performance of SiR nanocomposites. The electrical performance measurement results indicated that the breakdown strength of the nanocomposite SiR improved while the conductance current was reduced. The trap distribution showed that the improvement of the electrical performance of the nanocomposite SiR is mainly due to the decrease of the shallow trap density or the increase of the deep trap density. © 2023 IEEE.

We report the broadband optical nonlinearities and ultrafast carrier dynamics of GO doped with CuS nanoparticles (GO-CuS) following the femtosecond pulse lasers. Both the pure GO and GO-CuS hybrid films are first synthesized by the vacuum filter deposition method and their optical nonlinearities are then examined in the wide wavelength range (400 nm-1064 nm) based on the femtosecond Z-scan technique. The results reveal that, compared to the pristine GO, the introduction of CuS not only makes the GO-CuS hybrid film switched from saturated absorption to reverse saturated absorption possible, but also achieves strong broadband optical nonlinear absorption responses and optical limiting effects. It is demonstrated that the strongest nonlinear absorption coefficient (∼3.6×10-7 m/W) appears at 400 nm excitation, which is dozens of times larger than that under the illumination of 1064 nm. By leveraging the femtosecond pump-probe technique, we further study the ultrafast carrier dynamics of the GO-CuS hybrid film carrying the fast and slow relaxation processes. Moreover, the physical mechanisms behind these excellent nonlinear optical responses are elucidated. The findings presented here indicate that the GO-CuS hybrid film can be regarded as a potential promising candidate in various ultrafast photonics devices. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

With the development of computer technology, intelligent vehicles have become a popular orientation at present. This paper provides a solution for the traditional GNSS/IMU integrated navigation to mitigate the influence of non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environments and achieve high-precision navigation. The LOS/NLOS switching is treated as a transition in a Markov chain, and the DIMM filtering is applied to obtain GNSS-filtered data free from the influence of NLOS. GNSS/IMU integrated navigation is loose coupling in that the method combines IMU information with processed GNSS measurement using the ESKF (Error-State Kalman Filter) to achieve accurate target tracking and positioning by utilizing the state difference as the state variable. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly improves tracking and positioning accuracy by effectively mitigating NLOS effects compared to traditional methods. This research provides an effective solution for real-world autonomous vehicle navigation systems and optimizes the city driving experience. © ASCE.
