In network service systems, satisfying quality of service (QoS) is one of the main objectives. Admission control and resource allocation strategy can be used to guarantee the QoS requirement. Based on partially observable Markov decision processes (POMDPs), this paper proposes a novel admission control model for video on demand (VOD) service systems with elastic QoS. Elastic QoS is also considered in resource allocation strategy. Policy gradient algorithm is often available to find the solution of POMDP problems, with a satisfactory convergence rate. Through numerical examples, it can be shown that the proposed admission control strategy has better performance than complete admission control strategy.

A three-dimensional surface topography simulation algorithm for ultra-precision milling was proposed. In order to illustrate the formation of surface topography, blade point clouds which were consisted by a serial of blade points according to calculating the instantaneous locations of static discrete blade points in machining process, was introduced as the research object. Meanwhile the servo bounding boxes which were constructed by meshing simulation surface were utilized to selecting sampling points. The comparison between simulation results and measurement pictures shows that the algorithm can clearly illustrate the distribution of scallop in different directions, as well as the influence on the topography caused by initial cutter phrase. Hence, it provides a method to the research the surface topography composition in the range of ultra-precision milling machining.

The rapid growth of new information services, especially like new media services, providing content distribution to clients with good quality of service(QoS) while retaining efficient is a great challenge. This paper investigates the QoS-aware replica placement problem (QRPP) for distributed caching system. We propose a dynamic programming algorithm for the problem in general graph, it first ensures the QoS requirement is satisfied of each request, then places the replica along the request forward path to minimize the total cost. The simulation results show the dynamic programming algorithm can achive a good balance between the access latency and the requested availability. When the request is more concentrated, the dynamic programming algorithm can have better performance than the MODULO and LRU both in access latency and requested availability.

Tension control and precise conveyance in web-handling machines are critical to ensure product quality. This paper is focused on analyzing the effect of idle rollers on flexible web tension vibration for discontinuous web transport systems. First, the simplified algebraic dynamical models of the inertia and friction are presented, which plays an important role for the design of idle rollers' layout systems. Second, the tension vibration test method and tension data collection scheme are introduced, respectively. Finally, based on the mathematical model and test strategies, an experiment platform is established. Several experiments have been performed to show idle rollers' effect on tension control and tension vibration in the discontinuous web transport system.

The design of intelligent multi-parameter real-time monitoring system for the security of coal mine roof is introduced aiming at the status of monitoring system for mine roadway roof safety and supporting. Using advanced field-bus CAN technology and Ethernet fiber transmission technology can not only display the measurement data on-site and alarm, but also transmit the measured data through the monitor network of mine to the main monitoring station on the ground and the remote monitoring center for analysis and processing, so that the monitor in command center on the ground can real-time and remotely monitoring the security status on the roof. The actual application showed that the system had the capability of high communication speed, long transmission distance, anti-electromagnetic interference, reliable transmission, and high real-time. The system can play an active role in early warning to avoid the occurrence of coal mine roof disasters.
