Distributed multi-agent Q-learning for joint channel allocation and power control in cognitive radio networks

This paper deals with the resource allocation in completely distributed cognitive radio network. We propose a form of real-time multi-agent distributed reinforcement learning, which is known as Q-learning, to allow the cognitive radio to predict its transmit power and channel, in order for achieving a high quality of service without affecting the primary users. Simulation results reveal that the proposed approach is able to significantly reduce the interference to the licensed users while maintaining a high probability of successful transmission in a cognitive radio ad-hoc network. © 2012 Binary Information Press.

The very fast transient overvoltages(VFTO) are generated during operation of disconnect switch (DS) of gas insulated switchgear(GIS). In the GSM-R (GSM for Railways) mobility management technology, handover is the crucial factor to maintain high reliability and validity of mobile communication. However in high-speed movement scenario where shorter handover latency is required, the traditional handover scheme which has been adopted in the GSM network could no longer guarantee high quality performance and results in higher probability of handover failure as a consequence. In order to solve such problem, we propose an innovative handover scheme based on dual-antenna technology for GSM-R network. The proposed scheme modulates the frame structure of Traffic Channel (TCH) in order to send measurement report more quickly and adopts more complicated signaling procedure to achieve seamless handover. Simulation results show that interruption time in the proposed scheme is effectively reduced compared with the conventional handover scheme and call dropping rate is also acceptable when the train speed achieves 500km/h. Therefore the proposed dual-antenna handover scheme guarantees better service quality in high-speed scenario.

This paper discusses period properties of some linear maps which are employed in various applications such as image encryption, public key cryptography and watermarking. Conditions for the bijectiveness of such maps and the existence of a period are presented. Period structure is also given. Then, the recurrence equation theory is adopted to address the period distribution problem. Finally, a framework to solve the problem is proposed with a demonstration of its effectiveness and efficiency into some applications.

In this paper, we focus on the problem of community detection on TSina: the most popular microblogging network in China. By characterizing the structure and content of microgroup (community) on TSina in detail, we reveal that different from ordinary social networks, the degree assortativity coefficients are negative on most microgroups. In addition, we find that users from the same rnicrogroup likely exhibit some similar attributes (e.g., sharing many followers, tags and topics). Inspired by these new findings, we propose a united method for microgroup detection without losing the information of link structure and user attribute. First, the link direction is converted to the weight by giving higher value to the more surprising link, while attribute similarity between two users is measured by the Jaccard coefficient of common features like followers, tags, and topics. Then, above two factors are uniformly converted to the edge weight of a newly generated network. Finally, many frequently used community detection algorithms that support weighted network would be employed. Extensive experiments on real social networks show that the factors of link structure and user attribute play almost equally important roles in microgroup detection on TSina.. Our newly proposed method significantly outperforms the traditional methods with average accuracy being improved by 25%, and the number of unrecognized users decreasing by about 75%.

With the improvement of target maneuvering performance, noises statistical character changes correspondingly in the opto-electronic tracking system. To solve this problem, robust extend Kalman filter (REKF) based on the acceleration non-zero mean value time-correlation model was given in this paper. Result of the simulation shows that, comparing with extend Kalman filter, the prediction precision of REKF is almost twice as much as that of EKF. And at the same time, REKF has good robustness to overcome the effect coursed by stochastic measurement noises. © 2011 IEEE.

An OJ system is an online system to test programs in programming contests automatically. Performance enhancement of OJ systems in SMP environment is described in this paper. First, we introduce the affinity algorithm to improve the precision of the user programs' processing time. Second, by using queuing theory, a theoretical analysis and improvement of the system's performance indicators are given. By implementing these mechanisms, the average capacity of simultaneously judging tasks will increase while the judging results will become more precise, and the total number of computers in an OJ system will decrease, yielding lower hardware costs. © 2011 IEEE.

In order to improve the function of soft sensor to conduct variable selection, fault detection and model structure identification in the case of faulty state, a design method of new soft sensor is studied though the variable selection algorithm. A non-stationary time serial is introduced to describe the process output not being reflected by sensor variables and to detect whether the process enters the faulty state. A non-negative garrote method is adopted to identify the model structure and a modeling method for new soft sensors is presented. The obtained model can be used for both prediction, and detection of structural model change and the emergence of disturbance. Compared with the ordinary soft sensor based on partial least square algorithm, the advantages of the proposed method are demonstrated by a simulation example and an industrial application to temperature prediction of a blast furnace hearth.

Compared with fossil fuel vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs) maintain obvious and profound significance for the less city pollutant and operation noise. Moreover, EVs can benefit operation of the power systems via friendly feeding back the energy stored in the EV batteries into the grids when needed. The related research about charging of batteries for EVs has been extensively developed, which is one of the main issues for the application of EVs. This paper focuses on the cooperation between the battery demand and the supply curve problems, when the charging of EV is operated in the swapping way. Firstly, the concept of the swapping battery requirement (SBR) adequacy is presented, and then the corresponding mathematical model is established and the algorithm based on the Monte Carlo method is proposed. In addition, some critical factors which have great influence on the SBR and reserved fully charged battery (RFCB) curves are demonstrated, such as EVs driving cycle, battery capacity, average energy-consuming level and charging time. Simulation results are presented to verify the proposed method.

With the economic developments, high speed railway has been paid many attentions in China and medium- short term planning of Chinese high speed railway network has been formed and most of the railways have been started into operations. In this paper, graph theory and complex network theory are adopted to assess the reliability of Chinese high speed railway network. The topological characteristics and real distances between pairs of stations are discussed to investigate the reliability of Chinese high-speed rail network. Several parameters are presented to investigate the topological characteristics and the reliability and robustness of the network subject to failures. The parameter called unit degree betweenness is proposed to assess the transport capacity of lines connecting with the nodes. The largest degree node-based attacks and the highest betweenness node-based attacks are involved into Chinese high speed railway network to assess the topological reliability and robustness. The results show that the highest betweenness node-based attacks are more effective to destroy the network than the largest degree node-based attacks. Moreover, the cumulative degree distribution and the real mileages of railways between pairs of stations can be fitted by Gauss functions, and the distribution of real shortest distances over all pairs of stations of the network is fitted by a normal distribution function. By the simulations, the critical stations, Guangzhou Station, Zhengzhou Station and Jinan Station for the largest degree node-based attacks, and Wuhan Station, Xuzhou Station and Shijiazhuang Station for the highest betweenness node-based attacks, can be obtained in this paper. © 2011 IEEE.
