Preventing network attacks and protecting user privacy are consistently hot research topics in the Internet of Things (IoT) and edge computing fields. Recent advancements in Federated Learning (FL) have shown promise in addressing these challenges. FL allows various clients to collaboratively build an intrusion detection system (IDS) without sharing their private data. However, most existing methods train a single intrusion detection model for all clients and assume that the training and test data distribution are identical, leading to unsatisfactory detection accuracy and generalization abilities in practice. To overcome these challenges, this paper introduces a prototype-guided personalized FL approach named PG-FedIDS. We propose two novel mechanisms within this method. Firstly, we utilize class prototypes as auxiliary information carriers to generate personalized models for each client, rather than generating a single global model as in previous works. Secondly, we propose a prototype-guided ensemble learning strategy, which can leverage the global knowledge in prototypes to enhance detection accuracy and generalization abilities for each client. We conduct extensive experiments on two benchmark datasets with different evaluation test settings. The results demonstrate that our PG-FedIDS achieves promising detection accuracy and consistently outperforms other FL baselines. © 2024 IEEE.

To achieve the economic operation of a multi-energy micro grid under multiple uncertain environments, this study introduces a novel two-stage robust scheduling approach, encompassing both day-ahead planning and real-time adjustments. First, the multi-energy micro grid day-ahead economic dispatch model is constructed based on the prediction scenarios, and integrated demand response is considered to increase the flexibility of the system. Afterwards, the strategy is adjusted in the real-time phase, considering the uncertainty of energy production and consumption. The Column-and-Constraint Generation algorithm is employed to resolve the above two-stage issues effectively, and the optimal economic operation strategy of the MEMG is obtained. Finally, a case study demonstrates the economy and robustness of the proposed methodology. © 2024 IEEE.

The quotient of two multivariate Gaussian densities can be written as an unnormalized Gaussian density, which has been applied in some recently developed multiple-model fixed-interval smoothing algorithms. However, this expression is invalid if instead of being positive definite, the covariance of the unnormalized Gaussian density is indefinite (i.e., it has both positive and negative eigenvalues) or undefined (i.e., computing it requires inverting a singular matrix). This paper considers approximating the quotient of two Gaussian densities in this case using two different approaches to mitigate the caused numerical problems. The first approach directly replaces the indefinite covariance of the unnormalized Gaussian density with a positive definite matrix nearest to it. The second approach computes the approximation through solving, using the natural gradient, an optimization problem with a Kullback-Leibler divergence-based cost function. This paper illustrates the application of the theoretical results by incorporating them into an existing smoothing method for jump Markov systems and utilizing the obtained smoothers to track a maneuvering target. © 2023 International Society of Information Fusion.

This paper introduces a new variational Gaussian filtering approach for estimating the state of a nonlinear dynamic system. We first assume that the predictive distribution of the state is Gaussian and derive an iterative method for updating the state posterior in the natural parameter space through KullbackLeibler divergence minimization. The obtained update rule is the same as that of the conjugate-computation variational inference technique in Bayesian learning. The derivation here is simpler and more insightful. We then impose a Wishart prior on the inverse of the state prediction covariance to take into account the impact of approximating the state predictive distribution using a Gaussian density on the state posterior estimation. The prediction covariance is identified jointly with the state using variational inference and the established state posterior update rule to achieve the desired Gaussian filtering. Simulation study examines the performance of the proposed filtering framework in target tracking based on bearing and range measurements. © 2024 ISIF.

In recent years, industrial manipulators are widely used in factories. To solve the problems of low efficiency and high joint jitter in ladle nozzle loading and unloading, a new trajectory optimization method is proposed. Firstly, a manipulator model is established on the base of mechanical construction and parameters of KR1000L750. And the 3-5-3 segmented polynomial interpolation approach is used to design the trajectory. Then a trajectory optimization model is proposed based on time and impact as optimization objectives. Secondly, the traditional whale optimization algorithm is improved by introducing a nonlinear adaptive convergence factor to balance the exploration and development of the algorithm. The improved algorithm has also added a new search mechanism during the exploration phase. To reduce the waste of exploration resources, the information on the current optimal solution is added by the Cauchy mutation method. Then, a decomposition-based multi-objective improved whale optimization algorithm (DMOIWOA) is proposed. The algorithm combines a penalty-based boundary intersection approach with the improved whale optimization algorithm. Six representative optimization algorithms are selected for comparison on the test functions. The DMOIWOA has evident superiority in convergence and distribution. Finally, the algorithm is applied to the trajectory optimization model to obtain a better Pareto front. In conclusion, the DMOIWOA can reasonably optimize the manipulator trajectory, improving the manipulator operation efficiency and reducing the manipulator jitter. © 2023 IEEE.

Existing energy storage operation strategies take renewable energy unit consumption as the main goal, and often operate in conjunction with renewable energy projects, resulting in low energy storage utilization rate and insufficient driving force for energy storage operators to develop independent energy storage. However, with the implementation of independent energy storage operation support policies, the regional peak shaving service market gradually expands to include energy storage. Energy storage can have a positive impact on the economy of the power system as well as its utilization rate. According to the historical East Inner Mongolia Power Grid operational data, this paper established the annual chronological operation simulation model of peak shaving market participation by energy storage. By analyzing and summarizing the results of energy storage operation state obtained from the annual operation simulation, the energy storage operation strategy of taking part in peak shaving market based on system supply and demand margin was proposed. The two charge and two discharge or three charge and two discharge strategy, which are the most common operation modes of operation simulation, are compared with the proposed operation strategy. It is evident that energy storage's involvement in system peak shaving can lessen thermal units' peak shaving pressure, enhance the benefits of energy storage as a market participant for auxiliary services and the system's overall efficiency in terms of electricity consumption. © 2024 IEEE.

To achieve precise measurements of kinematic parameters and wing deformation of flapping flexible wings, this paper presents a wing motion reconstruction method utilizing a binocular vision system (BVS) comprising two action cameras. We designed an Adaptive Kernel Correlation Filter algorithm based on target scaling prediction for wing reconstruction to improve target tracking accuracy and robustness. A binocular error correction method based on a startup time difference-induced error model was proposed, which helps the action cameras achieve the same high-precision synchronization as the external trigger mode of industrial cameras. Moreover, an infrared motion capture system is applied to assess and compensate for errors in the BVS. The experimental results show that the average error and similarity of the reconstructed 3D models are less than 1.352 mm and greater than 0.996, respectively. The results contribute to the deformation measurement and optimization of soft materials such as the flapping wings. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

3d Motion Reconstruction of Flexible Flapping Wings Using Binocular Vision

It is challenging to measure and reconstruct the motion of flexible wings due to their high flap frequency, large motion range, and complex deformation. This paper presents a wing motion reconstruction method based on a binocular vision system (BVS). Firstly, an improved Kernel Correlation Filter (KCF) algorithm and an ellipse fitting algorithm are used to accurately track and localize multiple feature points on the wings. Then, the 3D coordinates of the points are determined by stereo imaging, and the wing's 3D model is constructed by linear interpolation fitting of the points. Moreover, an infrared motion capture system (IMCS) is applied to compensate for the errors in binocular measurements. The experimental results show that the average error and similarity of the reconstructed 3D models are less than 1.352 mm and greater than 0.996, respectively. The results contribute to the deformation measurement and optimization of flexible mechanisms such as the flapping wings. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
