Electroencephalogram evidence for mirror neuron activity during the observation of drawn hand motion

The present study used electroencephalography to examine mu rhythm suppression （a putative index of human mirror neuron system activation） at frontal sites （F3, Fz and F4）, central sites （C3, Cz and C4）, parietal sites （P3, Pz and P4） and occipital sites （O1 and O2）, while subjects observed real hand motion （real hand motion condition） and illustrative depictions of hand motion （drawn hand motion condition）. Experimental data revealed that mu rhythm suppression was exhibited in the mirror neuron system when subjects observed both real and drawn hand motion. Moreover, the mu rhythm recorded at the F3, Fz, F4, and Pz poles was significantly suppressed while observing both stimulus types, but no obvious mu suppression occurred at the O1, 02 and 03 poles. These results suggest that the observation of drawings of human hand actions can activate the human mirror neuron system. This evidence supports the hypothesis that the mirror neuron system may be involved in intransitively abstract action understanding.

Information-centric networking (ICN) technology is becoming a popular research topic in vehicular networks due to the connectionless and lightweight characteristics of this networking paradigm. Caching plays an essential role in information-centric networks, but current caching techniques for ICN are not ideal for the dynamic and wireless vehicular networks. This paper presents a caching approach for ICN-based vehicular networks that takes into account both the dynamicity of vehicular networks and the popularity of the information being distributed. We introduce an interval metric for selective caching. With this metric and estimates of information popularity and vehicle density, cooperative caching can be realized without exchanging cache management information among the vehicular nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed approach can increase the storage space utilization and has low data response time for vehicular networks. © 2017 Association for computing Machinery.

Optimal stopping theory is developed to achieve a good trade-off between decision performance and decision efforts such as the consumed decision time. In this paper, the optimal stopping theory is applied to fast mode decision for multiview video coding in order to reduce the tremendous encoding computational complexity, with the benefit of theoretical decision-making expectation and predictable decision performance. The characteristics of encoding modes in multiview video coding are studied to derive an optimal stopping theory-based model to early terminate mode decision and thus a fast mode decision algorithm is designed. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can save a great amount of encoding time for multiview video coding and meanwhile keep the compression performance more or less intact. © Springer-Verlag 2013.

Along with the application and popularity of transportation information grid system, users become more and more, original configuration can't meet actual demand. In this paper we establish timed colored Petri net process model for service On Demand process, which is one of the main service provided by the system. Through simulating increasing users and the amount of processes waiting for service On Demand request, we analysis request response time change, and provide beneficial reference for extension of system configuration. © 2012 IEEE.

Cloud computing is a recently developed new technology for complex systems with massive service sharing, which is different from the resource sharing of the grid computing systems. In a cloud environment, service requests from users go through numerous provider specific steps from the instant it is submitted to when the service is fully delivered. Quality modeling and analysis of clouds are not easy tasks because of the complexity of the provisioning mechanism and the dynamic cloud environment. This study proposes an analytical modelbased approach for quality evaluation of Infrastructure-as-a-service cloud and consider expected request completion time, rejection probability, and system overhead rate as key QoS metrics. It also features with the modeling of different warming and cooling strategies of machines and the ability to identify the optimal balance between system overhead and performance. © 2013 IEEE.

In this paper,we study the finite-time cluster synchronization of complex networks with time *** are two different types of time-varying delays in the network:the internal time delay and the coupling ***'s more,we assume that coupling time-varying delays exist only between nodes in different clusters,while no delay happens between nodes in the same cluster,which is more consistent with the real *** on the Lyapunov stability theorem,sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee the realization of the finite-time cluster ***,numerical simulations are provided to support the obtained theoretical results.

The lag quasi-synchronization of nonlinear coupled networks with time-varying delay in the presence of parameter mismatches by using aperiodically intermittent pinning control is investigated in this *** paper has two main differences with previous works:one is that the type of the intermittent pinning control is aperiodic while that in previous works is periodic;the other is that the coupling function we choose is *** utilizing the aperiodically intermittent pinning control idea,we pin the coupled networks by a simple controller to achieve the lag *** sufficient criteria are obtained to guarantee lag *** last,some simulations are presented to verify the correctness of the obtained theoretical results.
