Learning from large-scale contrastive language-image pre-training like CLIP has shown remarkable success in a wide range of downstream tasks recently, but it is still under-explored on the challenging few-shot action recognition (FSAR) task. In this work, we aim to transfer the powerful multimodal knowledge of CLIP to alleviate the inaccurate prototype estimation issue due to data scarcity, which is a critical problem in low-shot regimes. To this end, we present a CLIP-guided prototype modulating framework called CLIP-FSAR, which consists of two key components: a video-text contrastive objective and a prototype modulation. Specifically, the former bridges the task discrepancy between CLIP and the few-shot video task by contrasting videos and corresponding class text descriptions. The latter leverages the transferable textual concepts from CLIP to adaptively refine visual prototypes with a temporal Transformer. By this means, CLIP-FSAR can take full advantage of the rich semantic priors in CLIP to obtain reliable prototypes and achieve accurate few-shot classification. Extensive experiments on five commonly used benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method, and CLIP-FSAR significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods under various settings. Within online social networks, the rapid expansion of automated accounts, known as social bots, poses a significant challenge. This dynamic has sparked a strategic contest between bots and detectors. Both sides continually learn and adjust their strategies to gain an edge in this silent war. To effectively manage risks from bot evolution, proactive detection methods have garnered widespread attention. In this work, we propose a graph-based and structure-aware adversarial learning framework for multi-category social bot detection. In detail, we adopt a categorical generative adversarial network to create synthetic evolved bot samples for adversarial learning, aiming to boost the detection performance. Besides, we design a user representation learning module, including local and remote feature extractors to mine neighborhood information and achieve multiple network structure representations. Results demonstrate that our model outperforms state-of-the-art approaches and exhibits strong robustness.

Interrogation of subcellular biological dynamics occurring in a living cell often requires noninvasive imaging of the fragile cell with high spatiotemporal resolution across all three dimensions. It thereby poses big challenges to modern fluorescence microscopy implementations because the limited photon budget in a live-cell imaging task makes the achievable performance of conventional microscopy approaches compromise between their spatial resolution, volumetric imaging speed, and phototoxicity. Here, we incorporate a two-stage view-channel-depth (VCD) deep-learning reconstruction strategy with a Fourier light-field microscope based on diffractive optical element to realize fast 3D super-resolution reconstructions of intracellular dynamics from single diffraction-limited 2D light-filed measurements. This VCD-enabled Fourier light-filed imaging approach (F-VCD), achieves video-rate (50 volumes per second) 3D imaging of intracellular dynamics at a high spatiotemporal resolution of similar to 180 nm x 180 nm x 400 nm and strong noise-resistant capability, with which light field images with a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) down to -1.62 dB could be well reconstructed. With this approach, we successfully demonstrate the 4D imaging of intracellular organelle dynamics, e.g., mitochondria fission and fusion, with similar to 5000 times of observation.

Active disturbance-rejection methods are effective in estimating and rejecting disturbances in both transient and steady-state *** paper presents a deep observation on and a comparison between two of those methods:the generalized extended-state observer(GESO)and the equivalent input disturbance(EID)from assumptions,system configurations,stability conditions,system design,disturbance-rejection performance,and extensibility.A time-domain index is introduced to assess the disturbance-rejection performance.A detailed observation of disturbance-suppression mechanisms reveals the superiority of the EID approach over the GESO method.A comparison between these two methods shows that assumptions on disturbances are more practical and the adjustment of disturbance-rejection performance is easier for the EID approach than for the GESO method.

Multiconsensus of Second-Order Multiagent Networks via Pulse-Modulated Intermittent control

This paper studies the multiconsensus problem of multiagent networks based on sampled data information via the pulse-modulated intermittent control (PMIC) which is a general control framework unifying impulsive control, intermittent control, and sampling control. Two kinds of multiconsensus, including stationary multiconsensus and dynamic multiconsensus of multiagent networks, are taken into consideration in such control framework. Based on the eigenvalue analysis and algebraic graph theory, some necessary and sufficient conditions on the feedback gains and the control period are established to ensure the multiconsensus. Finally, several simulation results are included to show the theoretical results.

Quadrotor-slung load transportation is an important way to transport goods, but the swing of the load bring a great deal of challenges to the stability of the system. In this paper, a barrier Lyapunov function based sliding mode controller is proposed to limit the load swing, which also satisfies the speed limitation of the quadrotor. An inner-outer loop control strategy is proposed, where the outer one is the virtual position controller which guarantees the stability of the quadrotor while eliminating the load swing, and the inner one is the attitude controller which driver the actual force to the position controller to ensure the effectiveness of the system. Specifically, the dynamics of quadrotor-slung load transportation system is reconstructed as a cascade form. Then, a barrier Lyapunov function based sliding mode controller is designed to ensure the trajectory tracking errors uniformly bounded with state constraints valid. Finally, comparative simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Variational Autoencoder (VAE) is now popular in modeling and language generation tasks, which need to pay attention to the diversity of generation results. The existing models are insufficient in capturing the built-in relationships between topic representation and sequential words. At the same time, there is a massive contradiction between the commonly used simple Gaussian prior and the actual complex distribution of languages. To address the above problems, we introduce a hybrid Wasserstein Autoencoder (WAE) with Topic Embedded Representation (TER) for modeling. TER is obtained through an embedding-based topic model and can capture the dependencies and semantic similarities between topics and words. In this case, the learned latent variable has rich semantic knowledge with the help of TER and is easier to explain and control. Our experiments show that our method is competitive with other VAEs in modeling. © 2022 IEEE.

A memristor-based circuit design for generalization and differentiation on Pavlov associative memory

The traditional Pavlov associative memory contains the process of learning and forgetting, which correspond to the reinforcement and extinction in classical conditional reflex respectively. In fact, besides reinforcement and extinction, classical conditional reflex also contains generalization and differentiation. In this paper, a memristor-based circuit is designed to implement generalization and differentiation based on Pavlov associative memory. This circuit can respond to one kind of conditional stimulus after the initial learning, then when another similar stimulus is applied to the circuit, the circuit responds similarily, this is the phenomenon of generalization. To make the circuit be sufficiently cognizant of these two similar stimuli and ultimately distinguish them, a special training method, which selectively reinforces one stimulus while inhibits another similar stimulus, is used to train the whole circuit. As a result, when these two similar stimuli are applied to the circuit separately again, it can respond to them differently. This is the phenomenon of differentiation. Effective and Efficient Intracortical Brain Signal Decoding with Spiking Neural Networks

A brain-computer interface (BCI) facilitates direct interaction between the brain and external devices. To concurrently achieve high decoding accuracy and low energy consumption in invasive BCIs, we propose a novel spiking neural network (SNN) framework incorporating local synaptic stabilization (LSS) and channel-wise attention (CA), termed LSS-CA-SNN. LSS optimizes neuronal membrane potential dynamics, boosting classification performance, while CA refines neuronal activation, effectively reducing energy consumption. Furthermore, we introduce SpikeDrop, a data augmentation strategy designed to expand the training dataset thus enhancing model generalizability. Experiments on invasive spiking datasets recorded from two rhesus macaques demonstrated that LSS-CA-SNN surpassed state-of-the-art artificial neural networks (ANNs) in both decoding accuracy and energy efficiency, achieving 0.80-3.87% performance gains and 14.78-43.86 times energy saving. An Automatic Analog Instrument Reading System Using Computer Vision and Inspection Robot

Since the manual inspection of analog instruments is inefficient, many computer vision-based automatic reading systems have been proposed recently. However, most of them use fixed cameras that are costly due to a large number of used cameras. Although some other systems adopting the pan-tilt-zoom camera and the movable inspection robot can avoid using many cameras, they have to overcome high computational cost in aligning the camera to the tested instrument. Meanwhile, most existing systems are instrument type-dependent and, hence, cannot handle multiple types of instruments simultaneously. In this article, first, based on an inspection robot, an automatic reading system equipped with a pan-tilt-zoom camera is designed for different types of round-shape analog instruments. Then, a fast camera alignment algorithm based on visual servo is proposed, in which YOLOv3 is applied and improved to locate the instrument and guide the camera to iteratively align with the instrument. Finally, a monocular-vision pointer reconstruction algorithm is proposed to accurately read the instrument. Experimental results demonstrated that our proposed system is fast and reliable in the camera-alignment process and is effective in reading different types of analog instruments during the robot-based inspection.
