Group controllability of two-time-scale discrete-time multi-agent systems

In this paper, we address the group controllability issue for discrete-time multi-agent systems (MASs) with two-time-scale feature. Since the existence of singular perturbation parameter in modeling the two-time-scale MASs will cause ill-posedness problems, we decouple the MASs into fast and slow subsystems by using the iterative and approximate methods, and then eliminate the singular perturbation parameter. By using matrix theory, we propose a lot of necessary and/or sufficient conditions of group controllability, where some easy-to-use criteria are determined only by eigenvalues of matrices. Lastly, a simulation example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed theoretical results. (C) 2019 The Franklin Institute. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Speckle noise is an integral component in medical ultrasound imaging, which have a random granular pattern formation. This noise degrades the visual quality of ultrasound images and complicates image-based interpretation and diagnosis. The removal of interference-induced noise is a primary challenge as ultrasound image studies seek to achieve higher accuracy and characterize more subtle small and low-contrast lesions. In this study, a novel method, which combines the nonlocal-means (NLM) filter with a simple unsupervised deep model named Laplacian Eigenmaps network (LENet), has been proposed for ultrasonic speckle reduction. The proposed method exploits both the global features, redundancy information and self-similarity properties of noisy images, which first extract features from the noisy image by the Laplacian Eigenmaps algorithm, and then apply it to refine the image self-similarities weight for helping the NLM filter to provide better despeckling performance. Specifically, this is a two-stage approach that the first stage is to learn filter banks from a small quantity of training samples by LENet network and the following stage is to utilize the output eigenvectors as similarity metrics of pixels within the NLM filter. The performance of our approach is compared with related state-of-the-art methods on synthetic images, simulated image and real ultrasound images. The results show that our method can provide better noise removal ability over many previously despecking filters.

Unit commitment (UC) is a central market clearing process in wholesale electricity markets. With the increasing size and complexity of market-clearing models, UC problems become more and more complicated. To improve the computation efficiency, this paper tightens UC formulations with the general start-up ramp rate. Through analyzing their parameters over three periods, units are categorized into several categories for constructing corresponding tight formulations, and three of the categories are beyond existing works. By applying a recent systematic formulation tightening approach on top of these categories, new tight constraints of the general start-up ramp rate have been obtained. Numeral testing results illustrate the tightening process and demonstrate the improvement of computational efficiency when using our tightened formulations.

In this paper, a novel pinning controller, which is applied to the selected partial neurons with partial errors needed, is designed for global ultimate Mittag-Leffler lag quasi-synchronization (GUMLQS) of delayed fractional-order memristive neural networks (FMNNs) with switching jumps mismatch. Since the right-hand sides of the equations of FMNNs are discontinuous, FMNNs have no solution in the ordinary sense, and Filippov solutions are adopted for FMNNs. With the assistance of fractional Halanay inequality, a Lyapunov function in quadratic form and the theory of fractional derivative, an LMI-based GUMLQS criterion is derived. For a prescribed GUMLQS error bound, the control gain matrices can be calculated out via a group of LMIs. Meanwhile, the sufficient condition for the feasibility of the LMIs is obtained, which is an important basis for the selection of controlled neurons. Finally, a numerical example shows that the designed pinning controller can achieve GUMLQS between master-slave FMNNs with the prescribed ultimate error hound.

Distributed optimisation based on multi-agent system for resource allocation with communication time-delay

In this study, the distributed optimisation for solving resource allocation problem with both local bound and equality constraints is studied. A continuous-time multi-agent system with communication time-delay is proposed for the resource allocation. First, to reduce communication cost, a new modified multi-agent system is proposed inspired by previous work. Next, based on the system, the communication time-delay is considered to reduce the communication cost and match real situation. Then, by choosing proper parameters, sufficient conditions are derived for convergence to the optimal solution of the distributed optimisation. Moreover, delay-free case is also considered, which proves that the system is convergent based on directed communication graph by choosing proper parameters. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the characteristics of the system.

Event-triggered output consensus disturbance rejection algorithm for multi-agent systems with time-varying disturbances

This study investigates the problem of event-triggered output consensus disturbance rejection for multi-agent systems subject to time-varying disturbances. By virtue of the reduced-order generalized proportional-integral observer (GPIO) technique, a new output consensus disturbance rejection protocol is developed based on the measurement outputs. Taking the limited communication bandwidth into account, the multi-agent system closes the loop under the proposed consensus protocol only when a distributed event-triggering mechanism decides to transmit agent's current output to its neighbors. The proposed output consensus protocol can effectively enhance the robustness against the time-varying disturbances and save the communication resource, since the time-varying disturbances are accurately estimated and compensated. Furthermore, the proposed consensus algorithm does not require continuous communication among the neighboring agents and can successfully avoid the Zeno phenomenon. Finally, the numerical simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed output consensus protocol. (C) 2020 The Franklin Institute. Published by Elsevier Ltd. The thesis studies the semi-global scaled edge-consensus of linear discrete-time multi-agent systems under both the directed networks and undirected networks, where the states of each edge are subject to input saturation and positive constraint. By virtue of the MARE-based low-gain feedback method, two control protocols about directed networks and undirected networks are devised respectively to promise the positive scaled edge-consensus with input saturation. Thus we find the sufficient conditions to promise the positive edge states and overcome the input saturation. Finally, two representative examples are presented to prove the results.

In this paper, the cooperative stabilization problem of linear time-invariant (LTI) systems is studied based on a class of distributed Luenberger observers. A given LTI system is estimated by a network of observers. In case of observability configuration or external attack, each observer has to possess different measurement output of the LTI system. Classical distributed control strategies cannot be directly used because they are assumed to obtain identical information. In view of this problem, a class of distributed observers are designed under an undirected graph, which can recover the state of the LTI system by limited local information. By using any single channel of the estimated state, a control input is proposed to stabilize the LTI system. By analysing the stability of an augmented system which involves the LTI system and the estimation error system, some necessary and sufficient conditions are derived for the existence of control gains that guarantee the stabilization of the LTI system. In addition, some algorithms are proposed to specify the control gains. Lastly, some simulation examples are given to verify the effectiveness of the theoretical result.

Object spatial localization by fusing 3D point clouds and instance segmentation

Real-time detection and acquisition of localization information of instance targets in real three-dimensional space plays an important role in application scenarios such as virtual reality simulation and digital *** existing spatial localization methods without the aid of lidar and other equipment often have problems in restoring the real scale. In order to overcome this problem and achieve more accurate object spatial localization, an object spatial localization by fusing 3D point clouds and instance segmentation is proposed. This method obtains sparse 3D point cloud data by binocular stereo matching, which is used to describe the real scale and spatial location information of the object. Then uses deep learning method to perform monocular instance segmentation on the specific category target of interest, and the segmentation result is used as the front/background prior information to complete the coordinate correction and densification of the 3D point cloud data inside and outside the object contour. Compared with the unsupervised depth estimation methods based on deep learning, our method can quickly and accurately achieve the three-dimensional precise localization of the instance target and its various components in real-world scenes, and the accuracy in the indoor scene is more than 90%.

This article refocuses on the global coordination of networked systems with input saturation and external disturbances. With the help of a novel backstepping approach, a multihop relay control algorithm subject to a group of modified heterogenous saturation functions is constructed, in which the number of the hop is equal to the order of the networked system. It is proved that these modified heterogenous saturation functions can develop a global unsaturated control algorithm for each agent. Then, some sufficient and necessary conditions are provided for the global consensus of the connected networked systems with input saturation in the absence of external disturbances. In the presence of the input saturation and external disturbances, a sufficient condition irrelevant to the interactive network topology information is proposed for the global swarm of connected networked systems. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to verify the theoretical results.
