In this paper, a fuzzy control method is introduced for Buck converter and a Proportional-Differential (PD) like fuzzy controller is designed. The nonlinear characteristics of the PD like fuzzy controller in small-signal range are analyzed. The analysis shows that the PD like fuzzy controller is equivalent to a modified PD controller which provides an additional correction action. The PD like fuzzy controller can provide faster correction than the conventional PD controller. Therefore, the dynamic performance of the closed loop system could be improved. The simulation under fuzzy control is compared with the simulation under Voltage Mode control, using Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results demonstrate that fuzzy control has superior performance as compared with Voltage Mode control.

In this paper, Parallel Current Mode control method for Boost DC-DC converter is proposed. The parallel current mode control strategy is composed of two parallel terms: one is voltage term, the other is current term. They are calculated based on the input voltage, reference output voltage, inductor current and reference inductor current. The Parallel Current Mode control method essentially distinguishes itself from the conventional current mode control method with two regulators, one for voltage regulation and the other for current regulation. Under the conventional Voltage Mode control method and the new control method, small-signal models of Boost DC-DC converter are derived. The simulation result (based on the transfer functions) using Matlab/Simulink is compared with the simulation result based on the circuit simulation model, using PSIM. Results both in Matlab/Simulink environment and in PSIM environment are in good agreement, confirming the validity of the small-signal model. Both the small-signal analysis and simulation results demonstrate that Parallel Current Mode control has superior performance as compared with Voltage Mode control.

Although linear principal component analysis (PCA) originates from the work of Sylvester [67] and Pearson [51], the development of nonlinear counterparts has only received attention from the 1980s. Work on nonlinear PCA, or NLPCA, can be divided into the utilization of autoassociative neural networks, principal curves and manifolds, kernel approaches or the combination of these approaches. This article reviews existing algorithmic work, shows how a given data set can be examined to determine whether a conceptually more demanding NLPCA model is required and lists developments of NLPCA algorithms. Finally, the paper outlines problem areas and challenges that require future work to mature the NLPCA research field.

A precise localization for mobile target in wireless sensor networks is presented in this letter, where a geometrical relationship is explored to improve the location estimation for mobile target,in-stead of a simple centroid *** equations of location compensation algorithm for mobiletarget are derived based on linear trajectory prediction and sensor selective *** resultsbased on extensive simulation experiments show that the compensation algorithm gets better per-formance in metrics of quality of tracking and energy efficiency with the change of sensor sensing range, the ratio of sensing range and sensor activation range, and the data sampling rate than traditionalmethods, which means our proposing can achieve better quality-energy tradeoff for mobile target inwireless sensor networks.

A novel control strategy based on passivity theory was proposed with special attention to trajectory tracking and robust control of rigid robot. In this paper, robot model was divided into nominal model and uncertainty part. Based on the backstepping approach, feedback passivity was used to design controller for the nominal model. A variable structure concentrated compensation controller was adopted to the uncertainty part. Using fuzzy rules, a fuzzy system based on nominal model controller and sliding mode variable structure controller was built to eliminate chattering effectively. Simulation results show that the scheme can achieve tracking effect with high speed, as well as enhance the robustness of the system under the condition of existing model error and external disturbance, and the global stability can be also guaranteed.

In this paper, a class of hybrid impulsive systems with time delays and stochastic effects are considered. We obtain some criteria on the global exponential stability in mean square for the impulsive stochastic delayed systems. To do this, differential inequalities and ℒ-operator inequalities are developed. An example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of our results.

Technical advances in ubiquitous sensing, embedded computing, and wireless communication are leading to a new generation of engineered systems called cyber-physical systems (CPS). CPS promises to transform the way we interact with the physical world just as the Internet transformed how we interact with one another. Before this vision becomes a reality, however, a large number of challenges have to be addressed. Network quality of service (QoS) management in this new realm is among those issues that deserve extensive research efforts. It is envisioned that wireless sensor/actuator networks (WSANs) will play an essential role in CPS. This paper examines the main characteristics of WSANs and the requirements of QoS provisioning in the context of cyber-physical computing. Several research topics and challenges are identified. As a sample solution, a feedback scheduling framework is proposed to tackle some of the identified challenges. A simple example is also presented that illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed solution.
The aim of this research is to minimize the energy dissipation of embedded controllers without jeopardizing the Quality of control (QoC). Taking advantage of the Dynamic Voltage Scaling (DVS) technology, this study de...
