Cobalamin(B_(12)),an essential nutrient and growth cofactor for many living organisms on Earth,can be fully synthesized only by selected prokaryotes in ***,microbial communities related to B_(12) biosynthesis could serve as an example subsystem to disentangle the underlying ecological mechanisms balancing the function and taxonomic make-up of complex functional *** anchoring microbial traits potentially involved in B_(12) biosynthesis,we depict the biogeographic patterns of B_(12) biosynthesis genes and the taxa harboring them in the global ocean,despite the limitations of detecting de novo B_(12) synthesizers via metagenomes *** the taxonomic and functional composition of B_(12) biosynthesis genes were strongly shaped by depth,differentiating the epipelagic zones from the mesopelagic *** genes related to B_(12) biosynthesis were relatively stably distributed across different oceans,but the taxa harboring them varied considerably,showing clear functional redundancy among microbial *** taxa carrying B_(12) biosynthesis genes in the surface water were influenced by environmental factors such as temperature,oxygen,and ***,the composition of functional genes was only weakly associated with these environmental *** model analyses demonstrated that determinism governed the variations in B_(12) biosynthesis genes,whereas a higher degree of stochasticity was associated with taxonomic *** associations were observed between the chlorophyll a concentration and B_(12) biosynthesis,confirming its importance in primary production in the global *** results of this study reveal an essential ecological mechanism governing the assembly of microbes in nature:the environment selects for function rather than taxonomy;functional redundancy underlies stochastic community assembly.

Distributed Optimization of Multi-Microgrid Integrated Energy System with Coordinated control of Energy Storage and Carbon Emission

The mutual optimization of multi-microgrid integrated energy system (MMIES) can effectively improve the overall economic and environmental benefits, which is drawing increasing interest in recent years. Aiming at the scenario where an MMIES is connected to the same node, the energy storage coordination control strategy and carbon emission management strategy are proposed, and an adaptive step-size method is applied to improve the distributed optimization of MMIES based on alternating direction multiplier method (ADMM). Firstly, the basic framework of MMIES containing cold, heat, electricity and gas energy is established, and a coordinated control strategy limiting the time of charge and discharge of energy storage system (ESS) is proposed. Then a multi-objective optimization model based on operating cost and environmental cost about CO2 emissions is formulated. Considering that different microgrids may be managed by different operators and different convergence speed of multi-objective optimization iteration, an adaptive step-size distributed iterative optimization method based on ADMM is used, which can effectively reduce the cost and protect the privacy of each microgrid. Finally, a system composed of three microgrids is taken as an example for simulation analysis. The results of distributed optimization are consistent with those of centralized optimization, and the proposed coordinated control strategy can effectively control the charge and discharge times of ESS, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023, The Authors. Contemporary industrial parks are challenged by the growing concerns about high cost and low efficiency of energy supply. Moreover, in the case of uncertain supply/demand, how to mobilize delay-tolerant elastic loads and compensate real-time inelastic loads to match multi-energy generation/storage and minimize energy cost is a key issue. Since energy management is hardly to be implemented offline without knowing statistical information of random variables, this paper presents a systematic online energy cost minimization framework to fulfill the complementary utilization of multi-energy with time-varying generation, demand and price. Specifically to achieve charging/discharging constraints due to storage and short-term energy balancing, a fast distributed algorithm based on stochastic gradient with two-timescale implementation is proposed to ensure online implementation. To reduce the peak loads, an incentive mechanism is implemented by estimating users' willingness to shift. Analytical results on parameter setting are also given to guarantee feasibility and optimality of the proposed design. Numerical results show that when the bid-ask spread of electricity is small enough, the proposed algorithm can achieve the close-to-optimal cost asymptotically. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

Distributed edge caching could address latency and congestion problems in large-scale data access effectively, improving system throughput and performance. However, the lack of specialized edge caching solutions for graph data results in low cache hit rates and high data access latency. This limitation stems from existing graph partitioning schemes that overlook the specific requirements of edge caching, such as communication overhead between edge servers, data query frequency, and query patterns. To overcome these challenges, we propose LGPE, a labeled graph partitioning scheme for distributed edge caching based on frequent query patterns. LGPE generates frequent query pattern according to the user’s historical query subgraphs, and then performs labeled graph partitioning based on the frequent pattern, ensuring that the labeled graph divided into edge servers has a high hit rate for frequent user queries while satisfying minimum edge-cut. Evaluation on real datasets from various application domains demonstrates that LGPE achieves approximately 40% higher cache hit rates compared to benchmarks like METIS and SCOTCH, and it also performs well in terms of edge cuts in special graph cases. © 2023, The Authors. Colonoscopy has attached great importance to early screening and clinical diagnosis of colon cancer. It remains a challenging task to achieve fine segmentation of polyps. However, existing State-of-the-art models still have limited segmentation ability due to the lack of clear and highly similar boundaries between normal tissue and polyps. To deal with this problem, we propose a region self-attention enhancement network (RSAFormer) with a transformer encoder to capture more robust features. Different from other excellent methods, RSAFormer uniquely employs a dual decoder structure to generate various feature maps. Contrasting with traditional methods that typically employ a single decoder, it offers more flexibility and detail in feature extraction. RSAFormer also introduces a region self-attention enhancement module (RSA) to acquire more accurate feature information and foster a stronger interplay between low-level and high-level features. This module enhances uncertain areas to extract more precise boundary information, these areas being signified by regional context. Extensive experiments were conducted on five prevalent polyp datasets to demonstrate RSAFormer's proficiency. It achieves 92.2% and 83.5% mean Dice on Kvasir and ETIS, respectively, which outperformed most of the state-of-the-art models. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

The industrial Internet of Things or Industry 4.0 efficiently enhances the manufacturing process in terms of raising productivity, system performance, cost reduction, and building large-scale systems. It enables the connection of numerous heterogeneous devices and sensors into the internet network through the utilization of revolutionary techniques that transfer the manufacturing paradigm to intelligent processes. The traditional industrial internet of things adopts centralized architectures and complex encryption algorithms that suffer from several cyber-security threats and lead to data leakage, privacy disclosure, and high computational and communicational costs. In our work, we proposed a decentralized, efficient, low-power, scalable, secure, privacy-preserving, and trusting architecture based on a private blockchain network/smart contract and interplanetary file system technology for the Al-NajafyIraq oil refinery factory. That enables autonomous working and provides a high level of security authentication and privacy preservation, P2P communication, remote access, immutability and information backtracking. Traditional blockchain technology has storage limitation issues, most recent works adopted external servers or the cloud for storage purposes. Our proposed scheme addresses the limitations of blockchain data storage by adopting an interplanetary file system (IPFS) network;provides an efficient data encryption mechanism at the perceptual layer by adopting a lightweight encryption algorithm, high-performance, and ultra-low-power consumption ARM Cortex-M microcontroller. In addition, our architecture succeeds in merging blockchain technology, IoTs, and an IPFS with the oil refinery as an industrial application area. Moreover, it provides an efficient framework that resists common cyber-security attacks and realizes cyber-security requirements represented by data availability, integrity, and confidentiality. © 2022 IEEE.

Enhancing traffic efficiency and alleviating(even circumventing) traffic congestion with advanced traffic signal control(TSC) strategies are always the main issues to be addressed in urban transportation systems. Since model predictive control(MPC) has a lot of advantages in modeling complex dynamic systems, it has been widely studied in traffic signal control over the past 20 years. There is a need for an in-depth understanding of MPC-based TSC methods for traffic networks. Therefore, this paper presents the motivation of using MPC for TSC and how MPC-based TSC approaches are implemented to manage and control the dynamics of traffic flows both in urban road networks and freeway networks. Meanwhile, typical performance evaluation metrics, solution methods, examples of simulations,and applications related to MPC-based TSC approaches are reported. More importantly, this paper summarizes the recent developments and the research trends in coordination and control of traffic networks with MPC-based TSC approaches. Remaining challenges and open issues are discussed towards the end of this paper to discover potential future research directions.

M3TTS: Multi-Modal Text-to-Speech of Multi-Scale Style control for Dubbing

Dubbing refers to the procedure of recording characters by professional voice actors in films and games. It is more expressive and immersive than conventional text-to-speech (TTS) technologies and requires synchronization and style consistency of audio and video. Previous dubbing methods use video to provide either a global style vector or a local prosody embedding, limiting the expressiveness of the predicted waveform. To generate more expressive audio with precise visual temporal alignment, we propose a multi-modal multi-scale expressive speech synthesis method, namely multi-modal multi-scale TTS (M3TTS), which introduces an auxiliary video input to provide style embedding. Specifically, M3TTS adopts a memory network to bridge heterogeneous modalities and further solves the training-inference style mismatch in conventional multi-modal TTS. To enhance the expressiveness of synthesized audio, a multi-scale style modeling scheme is used for recovering style characteristics at different scales. In addition, M3TTS can convert the style of speech by choosing different reference videos. We conduct extensive experiments on the public GRID corpus, where our proposed M3TTS can generate high-quality video-aligned speech. It also shows superior performance over the other comparable methods, both subjectively and objectively. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
