The undulating microstructure rete ridge (RR) located at the junction between the dermis and epidermis plays a crucial role in improving skin mechanical properties and maintaining skin homeostasis. However, the investigation of RR microstructures are usually neglected in current tissue engineering for skin regeneration. Here, to create an epidermal model with RR microstructures, keratinocytes were inoculated onto a patterned GelMA-PEGDA hydrogel constructed using molding technology. Furthermore, grafting acryloylated Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) peptides on the hydrogel surface significantly improved cell adhesion, fusion, and development. RT-PCR, Western blot, and immunofluorescence staining confirmed that cells on RR microstructures exhibited higher gene and protein expression associated with epidermal stem cells. RNA sequencing analysis of cells on RR microstructure showed higher gene expression profiles related to stem cell maintenance, basement membrane formation, and epidermal development. Furthermore, RT-PCR analysis of epidermal models of various dimensions demonstrated that smaller microstructures were more conducive to epidermal stem cell marker gene expression, which is analogous to human skin. Overall, we have successfully developed a method for integrating RR microstructures into an epidermal model that mimics natural skin to maintain epidermal stem cell niche, providing a valuable reference for researching skin regeneration within the fields of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. © 2023, The Authors. According to the requirements of design and construction rules for mechanical components of pressurized water reactor nuclear islands, the primary hydrostatic test must be carried out before and after the operation of nuclear power plant. The overpressure protection system is used to prevent the accidental overpressure of the primary circuit during the hydrostatic test, and to alleviate the serious consequences of overpressure on the involved test equipment. The system design and equipment selection for the primary circuit of the third generation nuclear power plants are much different from that of the second generation ones. In addition, the construction of the third generation nuclear power plants is too late to have the reference experience. Based on the control characteristics of the primary process system in European pressurized water reactor and the deficiency of the overpressure protection system in china pressurized water reactor, the research work is conducted from the hereafter aspects, the pressure control strategy of the primary hydrostatic test, scheme design of the overpressure protection system, commissioning and site application. And it is also applied in the primary hydrostatic test of a nuclear power plant. The practical results show that the implementation principle of the overpressure protection system is correct, the analysis of risks and various countermeasures is appropriate, and the implementation scheme is feasible. The research work and practice can provide some reference for the subsequent project construction.

Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have attracted global attention for energy conversion from various types of mechanical energy into electricity. Traditional approaches for improving triboelectric conversion efficiency generally involved complicated preparation methods and strict structural design, which cannot fulfill the stringent requirements of material adaptability and application scenarios. In this work, a flexible TENG was developed based on zirconium-doped barium titanate (BaZrxTi1−xO3, BZT) particles in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) matrix. Subsequently, BZT/PDMS composites with patterned structures were fabricated by direct ink writing (DIW) based three-dimensional (3D) printing to significantly enhance the electrical performance. It was demonstrated that the TENG could deliver a maximum open-circuit voltage (VOC) of 350 V and a short-circuit current (ISC) of 4.9 µA with a maximum power density of 2.4 W m−2. Moreover, an effective utilization of the TENG was designed to detect the presence of humans, saving a huge amount of electrical energy. Finally, a TENG-based tactile sensor was integrated with machine learning to construct a material identification system, which was capable of recognizing different materials with a high accuracy of 98.54 %. The TENG-based tactile sensor with machine learning demonstrated a tremendous application in material perception, promoting the development of versatile sensors in the field of machine intelligence. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

In this paper, the problem of privacy preservation in the continuous-time dynamic average consensus is addressed by using a state decomposition scheme. We first show that for a conventional dynamic average consensus algorithm, the external eavesdropper can successfully wiretap the reference signals of each local agent. Then, to provide privacy protection against the eavesdropper, a state decomposition scheme is proposed. The main idea of the proposed scheme is to decompose the original state of each agent into two sub-states. One of the two sub-states succeeds the role of the original state in inter-node interactions, while the other sub-state is invisible to other neighboring agents and only communicates with the first sub-state of the same agent. The new reference signals for the two sub-states can be constructed randomly under certain constraints, which ensures that the convergence properties of the consensus algorithm can be retained. Theoretical analysis shows that under the state decomposition scheme, the eavesdropper cannot discover the private reference signals of each agent with any guaranteed accuracy. Moreover, the proposed privacy-preserving consensus algorithm is successfully applied to solve a formation control problem for multiple nonholonomic mobile robots. In this paper, we consider the privacy-preserving problem in collaborative computing. Based on a two-step average computation framework, we propose three privacy-aware schemes, all of which achieve different levels of privacy protections depending on data servers’ trust degrees. Further, by carefully designing noises injected to the distributed computing process, we obtain dynamic privacy-preserving schemes, whose privacy preserving levels are measured by Kullback-Leibler differential privacy. In addition, we prove that the proposed schemes achieve convergence in different senses. Numerical experiments are finally conducted to verify the obtained privacy properties and convergence guarantees.

This paper deals with the formation control problem for a group of quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) through a modified dynamic event-triggered control protocol. The stability proof for the state space origin of the overall closed-loop system is derived from the singular perturbation method and Lyapunov stability theory. An event-triggered formation control protocol in terms of a dynamically varying threshold parameter is delicately carried out while acquiring satisfactory resource efficiency, and Zeno behavior of triggering time sequences is excluded. Finally, simulations on four quadrotor UAVs are given to verify the effectiveness of the theoretical results. © 2018 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Electronic nose has been proven effective in alternative herbal medicine classification, but due to the nature of supervised learning, previous research heavily relies on the labelled training data, which are time-costly and labor-intensive to collect. To alleviate the critical dependency on the training data in real-world applications, this study aims to improve classification accuracy via data augmentation strategies. The effectiveness of five data augmentation strategies under different training data inadequacy are investigated in two scenarios: the noise-free scenario where different availabilities of unlabelled data were considered, and the noisy scenario where different levels of Gaussian noises and translational shift were added to represent sensor drifts. The five augmentation strategies, namely noise-adding data augmentation, semi-supervised learning, classifier-based online learning, Inductive Conformal Prediction (ICP) online learning and our novel ensemble ICP online learning (EICP) proposed in this study, are compared against supervised learning baselines, with Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) as the classifiers. This study provides a systematic analysis of different augmentation strategies. Our novel strategy, EICP, outperforms the others by showing non-decreasing classification accuracy on all tasks and a significant improvement on most simulated tasks (25 out of 36 tasks, p ≤ 0.05), which demonstrated both effectiveness and robustness in boosting the classification model generalizability. For reliable and efficient communications of aerial platforms, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the cellular network is envisioned to provide connectivity for the aerial and ground user equipment (GUE) simultaneously, which brings challenges to the existing pattern of the base station (BS) tailored for ground-level services. Thus, we focus on the coverage probability analysis to investigate the coexistence of aerial and terrestrial users, by employing realistic antenna and channel models reported in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). The homogeneous Poisson point process (PPP) is used to describe the BS distribution, and the BS antenna is adjustable in the down-tilted angle and the number of the antenna array. Meantime, omnidirectional antennas are used for cellular users. We first derive the approximation of coverage probability and then conduct numerous simulations to evaluate the impacts of antenna numbers, down-tilted angles, carrier frequencies, and user heights. One of the essential findings indicates that the coverage probabilities of high-altitude users become less sensitive to the down-tilted angle. Moreover, we found that the aerial user equipment (AUE) in a certain range of heights can achieve the same or better coverage probability than that of GUE, which provides an insight into the effective deployment of cellular-connected aerial communications. In the Internet of things (IoT) era, vehicles and other intelligent components in an intelligent transportation system (ITS) are connected, forming vehicular networks (VNs) that provide efficient and safe traffic and ubiquitous access to various applications. However, as the number of nodes in an ITS increases, it is challenging to satisfy a varied and large number of service requests with different quality of service (QoS) and security requirements in highly dynamic VNs. Intelligent nodes in VNs can compete or cooperate for limited network resources to achieve the objective for either an individual or a group. Game theory (GT), a theoretical framework designed for strategic interactions among rational decision makers sharing scarce resources, can be used to model and analyze individual or group behaviors of communicating entities in VNs. This paper primarily surveys the recent developments of GT in solving various challenges of VNs. This survey starts with an introduction to the background of VNs. A review of GT models studied in the VNs is then introduced, including the basic concepts, classifications, and applicable vehicular issues. After discussing the requirements of VNs and the motivation of using GT, a comprehensive literature review on GT applications in dealing with the challenges of current VNs is provided. Furthermore, recent contributions of GT to VNs that are integrated with diverse emerging 5G technologies are surveyed. Finally, the lessons learned are given, and several key research challenges and possible solutions of applying GT in VNs are outlined. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.
