Compound control for speed and tension multivariable coupling system of reversible cold strip mill

To weaken the nonlinear coupling influence among the variables in the speed and tension system of reversible cold strip mill, a compound control(CC) strategy based on invariance principle was proposed. Firstly, invariance principle was used to realize static decoupling between the speed and tension of reversible cold strip mill. Then, considering the influence caused by the time variation of steel coil radius and rotational inertia of the left and right coilers, as well as the uncertainties, a CC strategy that is composed of extended state observer(ESO) and global sliding mode control(GSMC) with backstepping adaptive was proposed,which further realized dynamic decoupling and coordination control for the speed and tension system. Theoretical analysis shows that the resulting closed-loop system is global bounded stable. Finally, the simulation was carried out on the speed and tension system of a 1422 mm reversible cold strip mill by using the actual data, and through the comparison of the other control strategies, validity of the proposed CC strategy was shown by the results.

The triple inverted pendulum is a nonlinear, unsteady and dynamic system. The traditional model is built based on mathematical modeling method which has ignored many important factors in reality. In this paper, the GA-RBF-ARX is proposed to identify a nonlinear triple inverted pendulum model based on its input/output data. RBF-ARX model is a combination of Gaussian radial basis function(RBF) neural network and Autoregressive model with exogenous input(ARX) model. It not only has the advantages of RBF neural network, such as the approximation ability, simple structure and quickly learning rate, but also has the ability of describing globally of ARX model. The structured nonlinear parameter optimization method(SNPOM) is generally used to optimize parameters of the RBF-ARX model. However, SNPOM needs to classify the parameters before optimization. It is too complex to popularize and apply in practical engineering. Due to this problem, genetic algorithm(GA) is proposed to replace SNPOM. The identification process based on GA is simpler than SNPOM. Besides, GA has good parallel design structure and characteristics of global optimization. Finally, the MATlab simulation results show that GA-RBF-ARX identification is effective.

GPU has been generally accepted as an efficient accelerator in the field of high performance computing (HPC). On some heterogeneous systems, multiple GPUs are installed on each computing node. To make things more complicated, these GPUs may even have different architectures. Therefore, it is a challenge to efficiently schedule tasks and data on heterogeneous system. In this paper, we present DoSFoG, a data-oriented runtime scheduling framework on heterogeneous system equipped with multiple GPUs. In DoSFoG, the data blocks, instead of tasks, are taken as the scheduling units. It uses a data-oriented directed acyclic graph (DoDAG) as representation of an application, which is proved to be equivalence to task DAG. Based on DoDAG, a runtime scheduling framework is designed. Besides, a hierarchical storage structure is carefully designed based on the various levels of memory in the system. Page-locked memory and soft cache on GPU device memory are used to improve the data transfer. DoSFoG is evaluated with different applications on a system equipped with different GPUs. The results show that DoSFoG can achieve high data locality, scalability, load balance and performance improvement for large size of data.

Encryption algorithms are applied to a variety of fields and the security of encryption algorithms depends heavily on the computational infeasibility of exhaustive key-space search. RC4 algorithm has an extensive application for stream encryption, however, the disadvantages of traditional RC4 serial algorithm are large computational quantity and slow computation speed, which means a great challenge for throughput of computing system. Graphics processors recently have been widely used as accelerators for high throughput computing. In this paper, GPU is used to improve the efficiency and performance of attacking RC4 algorithm. First, we revised RC4 algorithm to make it easier to parallelize on a GPU. Then we take advantage of constant memory and shared memory in GPU to search the key space of RC4 algorithm efficiently. Besides, we solved the bank conflict problem in shared memory to further improve the performance. Our approach was evaluated in the whole key space of 40-bit, and the results show it can complete searching of the whole key space within 12.8 hours. © 2016 IEEE.

To improve the equality of continuous casting billet, synchronization control is investigated for continuous casting mold driven by dual-cylinder electro-hydraulic servo systems(EHSS) in this paper. A second-order super twisting sliding mode controller is developed for each cylinder EHSS, in which cross-coupled errors are employed to construct the sliding mode surfaces, which guarantee that trajectory tracking errors of each cylinder EHSS and the synchronization error can rapidly converge to zero in finite time even in presence of the parameter uncertainties and external disturbances. Furthermore, to reduce the chartering caused by the discontinuous control law of sliding mode control, adaptive gains are employed during the sliding mode controller design. Thus, an adaptive sliding surface cross-coupled synchronization controller is presented by employing Lyapunov stability theorems. Simulation results in a model obtained from a real continuous casting mold demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

In recent years, methods from network science are gaining rapidly interest in economics and finance. A reason for this is that in a globalized world the interconnectedness among economic and financial entities are crucial to understand and networks provide a natural framework for representing and studying such systems. In this paper, we are surveying the use of networks and network-based methods for studying economy related questions. We start with a brief overview of graph theory and basic definitions. Then we discuss descriptive network measures and network complexity measures for quantifying structural properties of economic networks. Metallurgical equipment belongs to the discrete manufacturing industry, in which large-scale equipment is common, and has feature of high level of customization, large variety, single and small batch. Under the model of design to order, R&D staff have to modify or redesign according to each order, leading to longer product development cycle and higher cost. This paper presents w-model of system engineering framework to solve the R&D cross sectoral collaborative problem. Top-down functional decomposition integrated with bottom-up component clustering is suggested by the author to form module for design knowledge reuse. In the end, this paper takes an illustrative example of lean metallurgical equipment development to demonstrate the feasibility and technical advantage of the approach. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2016.

Centrality is widely recognized as one of the most critical measures to provide insight in the structure and function of complex networks. While various centrality measures have been proposed for single-layer networks, a general framework for studying centrality in multilayer networks (i.e., multicentrality) is still lacking. In this study, a tensor-based framework is introduced to study eigenvector multicentrality, which enables the quantification of the impact of interlayer influence on multicentrality, providing a systematic way to describe how multicentrality propagates across different layers. This framework can leverage prior knowledge about the interplay among layers to better characterize multicentrality for varying scenarios. Two interesting cases are presented to illustrate how to model multilayer influence by choosing appropriate functions of interlayer influence and design algorithms to calculate eigenvector multicentrality. This framework is applied to analyze several empirical multilayer networks, and the results corroborate that it can quantify the influence among layers and multicentrality of nodes effectively. Recently, d36-type piezoelectric wafers derived from lead magnesium niobate-lead titanate (PMN-PT) single crystal materials have been proposed for elastic wave generation in thinwalled structures. In contrast to traditional d31 piezoelectric materials which generate symmetric and anti-symmetric Lamb waves, d36 introduces these same Lamb waves plus an inplane shear horizontal (SH) wave. Based on guided wave theory, the SH0 wave mode is nondispersive which may find many advantages uses in structural health monitoring. To detect and localize damage (e.g., cracks, corrosion) in thin walled structures, a phased array of d36- type piezoelectric wafers is proposed. To validate the proposed phase array, extensive experiments have been conducted using an aluminum plate with four d36 PMN-PT piezoelectric wafers surface bonded. The d36 phased array is shown capable of accurately detecting the location of local damage in the plate. Good detection accuracy is observed indicating that this proposed methodology has the potential to provide an effective identification of damage in metallic thin walled structures.

Motion Stability Analysis of Non-sinusoidal Oscillation of Mold Driven by Servomotor

The investments of the electro-hydraulic servo system of the mold non-sinusoidal oscillator are great, the modification ratio of the mechanical type is unable to be adjusted online, and some continuous casters suffer from server resonance during the casting. A mold non-sinusoidal oscillation mechanism driven by servomotor is proposed and the prototype is produced in the lab, the investment is low and the modification ratio is can be adjusted online, and the stability problem is studied. At first the dynamics model of the servomotor non-sinusoidal oscillation is established, and the kinematics differential function is deduced. Furthermore, based on the harmonic balance method, the eigenvalues of the system are solved; the criterion of the stability of the system is put forward. In addition, the eigenvalues and harmonic with different oscillating parameters are analyzed. Analytical results show that the real parts of the eigenvalues are positive, the system will be unstable, and the resonance will occur when the positive real parts of the eigenvalues are extremum. A foundation is established for solving the running smooth problem and next application of this mechanism.
