Considering there are many seismicity factors with information overlap, we apply a gray generating -A generating GM model which has higher precision to mine the potential law of these factors, and apply principal component analysis(PCA) approach to reduce the dimension of these factors, choose several seismicity factors which represent most of the information that the original seismicity factors carry, by utilizing Bayes posterior probability discriminant analysis, to predict the largest magnitude for certain region and period numerically and synthetically. As an example, we predicte the annual largest magnitude for North China(30°∼ 42°E, 108°∼125°N). The application results show the practical value of this model in the medium-short-term earthquake prediction. © 2009 IEEE.

This paper studies the problem of how to choose the viewpoint for taking good photographs for architecture. We achieve this by learning from professional photographs of world famous landmarks that are available in the Internet. Unlike the previous efforts devoted to photo quality assessment which mainly rely on visual features, we show in this paper combining visual features with geometric features computed on the 3D models can result in a more reliable evaluation of viewpoint quality. Specifically, we collect a set of photographs for each of 6 world famous architectures as well as their 3D models from Internet. Viewpoint recovery for images is carried out by an image-model registration process, after which a newly proposed viewpoint clustering strategy is exploited to validate users' viewpoint preference when photographing landmarks. Finally, we extract a number of 2D and 3D features for each image based on multiple visual and geometric cues, and perform viewpoint recommendation by learning from both 2D and 3D features, achieving superior performance over using solely 2D or 3D features. We propose a new method of traffic flow forecasting based on quantum particle swarm optimization strategy (QPSO) for Internet of Vehicles (IOV). Establish a corresponding model based on the characteristics of the traffic flow data. The genetic simulated annealing method is applied to the quantum particle swarm method to obtain the optimized initial cluster center, and is applied to the parameter optimization of the radial basis neural network prediction model. The function approximation of radial basis neural network can be used to obtain the required data. In addition, in order to compare the performance of the methods, a comparison study with other related methods such as QPSO-RBF is also performed. Our method can reduce prediction errors and get better and more stable prediction results. © 2020 IEEE.

Face detection and recognition is a hot research subject in the fields of image processing, pattern recognition and computer vision, which emphasize on the enhancement of the precision of detection in as short a time as possible. This paper expounds on how to detect human faces accurately from complex pictures by means of the technology of judgement based on the combination of the feature of Haar and the features of skin colors, and depicts in detail the principles and methods of detection. By the combination of the two methods, we can draw on each other's strength and promote the performance of the algorithm. It has been justified by experiments that this algorithm can produce better detection result, and, for other machinery vision application systems, it is of high value to make use of it as reference. ©2010 IEEE.

We propose a new mobile ad hoc network routing method based on improved GF (greedy forwarding) strategy in this paper. In the greedy forwarding phase, the reliable communication area is calculated, and then the quality of the link is evaluated according to the relative displacement between the nodes and the maintenance time of the link. Then, according to the quality of the link, the distance from the candidate node to the destination node, and the number of the neighbor nodes, the metric value is obtained, and the node with the large metric value is selected as the next hop. When a routing hole occurs, the waiting forwarding mode is used for a period of time. After a period of time, if the current node is still a routing hole node, the right-hand rule and the left-hand rule are used, and the bypass mode is performed simultaneously. By considering three factors of the deflection angle and the residual energy of the node and the maintenance time of the link, the forwarding node as the next hop with the highest priority value is selected in each direction. According to experiments, the method of this paper has achieved good experimental results. © 2019 IEEE.

The resource limitation of mobile devices causes the problem that the existing image processing software based on the centralized computing mode had difficulty running in mobile devices. A solution is given in the paper by adopting web service-based image processing method. For one thing, image processing tasks were distributed to service providers' service registry and service requesters. For another, what the service providers should do was only to invocate the specific image processing services provided by service providers. Consequently, web service-based solution reduces the resource consumption of mobile devices by redistributing image processing tasks. Compared with traditional methods of image processing, Web service-based image processing method has the advantages of loose coupling and component oriented and can take full advantage of the computing resources in heterogeneous network. Thus web service-based image processing method can effectively solve the resource bottle-neck that traditional image processing software had. ©2009 IEEE.

The image data are obtained by a variety of multimedia, information equipment, which include amount of information, extensive coverage, and redundancy in ubiquitous computing paradigm. In order to make use of these information reasonably and efficiently, it is necessary to fuse such massive data, therefore the multi-sensor image information fusion become a key technology to ubiquitous computing. A new approach of image data fusion based on fuzzy neural network (FNN) is presented in this paper. Here, neural network is a parallel information processing model, there are more adaptive and self-organization, and can accomplish the complexity of real-time computing and mass data retrieval, it demonstrate its unique superiority of image understanding, pattern recognition and the handling of incomplete information. In the new approach, fuzzy theory has the advantages such as: easy-to-understand, flexible and inclusive of non-precise data, as well as using expert knowledge and based on the natural language. The fuzzy neural network system developed by us has used in multi-sensor image fusion, proved that the fusion is fast, effective, good, and can meet the real-time requirements of ubiquitous computing. ©2010 IEEE.

Spike sorting is the essential step in analyzing recording spike signals for studying information processing mechanisms within the nervous system. Overlapping is one of the serious problems in the spike sorting of multi-channel recordings. In this paper, a modified radial basis function (RBF) network is proposed to decompose the overlapped signals and separate spikes within the same RBF network. A modified radial basis function based on Gaussian function is employed in the method to improve the accuracy of overlap decomposition. In addition, the improved constructing algorithm reduces the calculation cost by taking advantage of the symmetry of the RBF network. The performance of the presented method is tested at various signal-to-noise ratio levels based on simulation data coming from the University of Leicester. Experiment results show that our method successfully resolves the fully overlapping problem and has better accuracy comparing with the Gaussian function. © 2010 IEEE.

With the development of 5 g, computing-intensive and complex applications in smart-city is growing rapidly. Due to the limited resources of mobile terminal devices in smart-city, new applications have higher requirements for delay, bandwidth, security, and energy consumption. Computation offloading in mobile edge computing (MEC) is effective to reduce delay and energy consumption of Real-time video analysis. An improved chaos quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (ICQPSO) algorithm is proposed for multi-user and multi-MEC edge Computation offloading scenarios. Compared with other heuristic algorithms, the improved chaos quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization algorithm can effectively reduce the delay and energy consumption of edge computing offloading. Experimental results show that the improved chaotic quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (ICQPSO) can effectively avoid premature convergence, has stronger global searchability, and can solve multi-dimensional complex NP-hard problems more efficiently. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.
