It has been widely recognized that the efficient training of neural networks (NNs) is crucial to classification performance. While a series of gradient-based approaches have been extensively developed, they are criticized for the ease of trapping into local optima and sensitivity to hyperparameters. Due to the high robustness and wide applicability, evolutionary algorithms (EAs) have been regarded as a promising alternative for training NNs in recent years. However, EAs suffer from the curse of dimensionality and are inefficient in training deep NNs (DNNs). By inheriting the advantages of both the gradient-based approaches and EAs, this article proposes a gradient-guided evolutionary approach to train DNNs. The proposed approach suggests a novel genetic operator to optimize the weights in the search space, where the search direction is determined by the gradient of weights. Moreover, the network sparsity is considered in the proposed approach, which highly reduces the network complexity and alleviates overfitting. Experimental results on single-layer NNs, deep-layer NNs, recurrent NNs, and convolutional NNs (CNNs) demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. In short, this work not only introduces a novel approach for training DNNs but also enhances the performance of EAs in solving large-scale optimization problems.

The propagation environment of electromagnetic waves in mine tunnels is confined areas. The mine tunnel is regard as wave-guide which contains kinds of un-beneficial medium, the field formulas of different polarization waves were presented based on Marcatili method, and field prediction of horizontal and vertical polarization waves were simulated. The results showed that propagation effect of vertical polarization waves was better than horizontal polarization wave in mine tunnels of breadth less than height, contrarily propagation attenuation of horizontal polarization waves were higher than vertical polarization waves in mine tunnels of height less than breadth, at the same time the field distribution would be influenced because of section dimension change.

In this paper, a high-efficiency transceiver antenna with embedded high magnetic permeability core of segmented two-turns loop is presented. It can be applied in the implanted device of monitoring human body neural with a wireless charging and bi-directional data transmission. The whole structure of transmitting and receiving antenna is basically similar;the difference is that receiving antenna is composed of double-sided ring and an embedded magnetic core at central position, transmitting antenna can be realized by dividing ring and welding fixed-value capacitor at corresponding position. The efficiency of wireless energy transfer has been improved and the specific absorption rate value has been reducing by simulation optimization. Compared with conventional loop antenna, our transmission efficiency has been exceed doubled and average SAR reduced by approximately 52%, when the distance of wireless transmission is 5 mm. Finally, we fabricate a conventional loop antenna, a segmented loop antenna with embedded magnetic core and a kind of mixed liquid that have the same dielectric parameters with skin at 402 MHz. Experiences show that actual results of transmission efficiency are in good agreement with the simulation results.
