An active e-course is a self-representable and self-organizable document mechanism with a flexible structure. The kernel of the active e-course is to organize learning materials into a "concept space" rather than a "page space". Besides highly interactive service, it supports adaptive learning by dynamically selecting, organizing and presenting the learning materials for different students. During the learning progress, it also provides assessments on students' learning performances and gives suggestions to guide them in further learning. We have implemented an authoring tool and a course prototype to support the constructivist learning.

Locally linear embedding (LLE) is an elegant nonlinear method for feature extraction and manifold learning, which attempt to project the original data into a lower dimensional feature space by preserving the local neighborhood structure. However, LLE algorithm fails when it is directly applied to video with multi-shot. In this paper, video manifold feature is defined firstly, and then using LLE we extract video manifold feature through adding virtual frames on an enriched set. The proposed manifold feature extraction method is applied to shot transition and video trajectories. The video manifold feature description gives a new tool for video analysis.

An image-reject hairpin bandpass filter used in Ku-band low noise block (LNB) is designed, and optimized in the paper. The designed detail of the filter is explained and the image-reject is illustrated theoretically. According to the research, under the condition of reducing the size as small as possible, the hairpin filter used in Ku-band LNB we designed not only can satisfy the demands from bandwidth and return loss, but also has good image-reject. In the end, the results of the simulation and measurement are presented, which prove the feasibility of our design.

This paper studies the decoding performance of low-density parity-check(LDPC)codes in a serial concatenation system with polar codes employing the successive cancellation(SC)*** is known that the absolute incorrect log-likelihood ratio(LLR)values from the SC decoding can be very *** phenomenon dramatically deteriorates the error correcting performance of the outer LDPC *** this paper,the LLR values of polar codes are regulated by a log processing before being sent to the LDPC *** results show that the log processing is an efficient approach with a low optimization complexity compared with the existing procedures to improve the performance of the serial concatenation systems.

Background There is a large group of deaf-mutes worldwide, and sign language is a major communication tool in this community. It is necessary for deaf-mutes to be able to communicate with others who are capable of hearing, and hearing people also need to understand sign language, which produces a great demand for sign language tuition. Even though there have already been a large number of books written about sign language, it is inefficient to learn sign language through reading alone, and the same can be said on watching videos. To solve this problem, we developed a smartphone-based interactive Chinese sign language teaching system that facilitates sign language learning. Methods The system provides a learner with some learning modes and captures the learner's actions using the front camera of the smartphone. At present, the system provides a vocabulary set with 1000 frequently used words, and the learner can evaluate his/her sign action by subjective or objective comparison. In the mode of word recognition, the users can play any word within the vocabulary, and the system will return the top three retrieved candidates;thus, it can remind the learners what the sign is. Results This system provides interactive learning to enable a user to efficiently learn sign language. The system adopts an algorithm based on point cloud recognition to evaluate a user's sign and costs about 700ms of inference time for each sample, which meets the real-time requirements. Conclusion This interactive learning system decreases the communication barriers between deaf-mutes and hearing people.
