Research of job scheduling methods of arc welding robot is focused in this paper. The job scheduling of arc welding robot is considered as a Traveling-salesman-Problem. Welding job scheduling is modeled and relevant job scheduling optimization methods are designed. Genetic algorithm and ant colony algorithm are applied to robot welding job scheduling first. Then, based on the characteristics of both algorithms, hybrid genetic ant colony algorithm is designed to improve optimization performance. With simulated weldment as the subject, genetic algorithm, ant colony algorithm and hybrid genetic ant colony algorithm are analyzed and compared by simulation. Validity of above methods is verified.

This paper presents a speed-sensorless control algorithm for induction motors, based on the stator flux-oriented control. The algorithm has the advantage of insensitivity to rotor parameters and load varying, stator flux and rotor speed is closed loop controlled respectively. The main improvement is that stator flux is estimated based on a modified integrator which is developed to solve the problems associated with pure integrator. The performance of the proposed algorithm is verified using a dSPACE system with DS1103 controller board based on the digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320F240. The experimental results show the estimated speed is true of exactly actual speed and good behavior of the drive in both transient and steady state low-speed operating conditions is proved.

Buildings are important contributors to energy consumption accounting for around one-third of energy consumed in cities, where large public buildings are the dominant energy consumers and energy consumption might be significantly decreased through Building Energy Management systems (BEMS). A supervisory and management system for energy conservation in large public buildings is presented in this paper, with a PC or a embedded computer system running a BEMS software designed to connected to distributed energy metering system, wireless sensor networks, even conventional building automation (BA) systems. The supervisory and management software consists of information inquiry, energy consumption metering, energy efficiency analysis and decision support subsystems. The system framework is introduced with development and application of the software described in detail.

This paper presents a new rotor flux estimation algorithm using neural network for induction motor, based on the left-inversion method. Using the standard fifth-order model of the three-phase induction motor in a stationary two axes reference frame, the flux ldquoassumed inherent sensorrdquo is constructed and its left-invertible is validated. The artificial neural network (ANN) left-inversion flux estimator is composed of two relatively independent parts - a static ANN used to approximate the complex nonlinear function and several differentiators used to represent its dynamic behaviors, so that the ANN left-inversion is a special kind of dynamic ANN in essence. The performance of the proposed algorithm is tested through simulation and experiment, proving good behavior in both transient and steady-state operating conditions.

The ability to detect and follow a specific person is a key prerequisite of service mobile robots in indoor environments. A novel method for tracking and following a specific person with a mobile robot by combining vision and laser range information is proposed. The vision module which integrates the color matching method using the Horizontal-Projecting Probability Histogram (HPPH) of upper body color clothes region with the Unscented Particle Filter (UPF) tracking method is developed and, at the same time, the laser module detects the pairs of legs to measure the distance from mobile robot. The information is integrated in a detection procedure that returns the direction and the distance of the target person. The proportional compensation method is utilized to enable the robot to follow the target person steadily. Experimental results validate the robust performance of the approach.

Ending effect is produced in the decomposition process of empirical mode decomposition (EMD) based Hilbert-Huang transformation. It leads to distortion near the two end points of the signal processed. Several methods of restraint aimed at ending effect are proposed. Comparison has been made among the global average statistic method, the parallel line extending method, the polynomial curvefitting method, the mirror extending method and the neural networks extending method. As a result of simulation and experiment, it is shown that ending effect can be effectively restrained.
