Two-dimensional van der Waals magnetic materials have shown fascinating natural ferromagnetic properties at the atomic level, which has great potential in fields of low power spintronics, quantum computing and optical communication. Herein, the ferromagnetism and magnetic anisotropy of bulk Fe3GeTe2 (FGT) were investigated, and the testing results indicate a pronounced vertical magnetic anisotropy below the Curie temperature (Tc=165 K) of FGT. In addition, the anomalous Hall effect of FGT nanoflakes was studied at various temperatures and thicknesses by standard Hall bar device in detail. The results show the anomalous Hall resistance (0.764 Ω at 20 K decreased to 0.332 Ω at 140 K) and the obvious rectangular magnetic hysteresis rings below Tc (165 K). Furthermore, we calculated the carrier concentration (2.5×1022 cm-3 at 20K) and mobility (13.3 cm2/(v·s) at 20K) under large magnetic field (-6 T~6 T). Particularly, we demonstrated that the strong tailoring ability of the anomalous Hall effect for FGT-based magnetoelectric transport devices comes form the regulation of magnetic moment by sample thickness and magnetic field angle. The above experimental results verify that FGT is expected to be a prime candidate material for ultrathin 2D spintronic devices to the next generation. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Power systems are leading towards a transition with the involvement of a huge number of distributed energy resources to produce clean energy. Different concerns including energy crisis, polluted environment due to carbon emission, and economic issues have produced the urge in passive consumers to act as prosumers by installing distributed energy resources and with the use of information and communication technologies, the grid has become more reliable as smart grid. Energy generated from these distributed energy resources along with the use of energy storage systems provide saving to prosumers. In this study, we have focused on the impact of rooftop solar panels, energy storage system, and exchange of power with the grid and consumer through the use of energy management system to exchange information by end-users. This shows significant savings to the prosumer and consumer in term of the cost when the locally generated power is used. Prosumer can trade with the grid, consumer, and uses self-generated power to reduce the operational cost.

This study presents a contactless current traveling wave fault location scheme for a two-terminal overhead transmission line based on a tunnel Magnetoresistive sensor. The proposed method is implemented by installing a tunnel Magnetoresistive sensor array at both ends of the line for current traveling wave measurement. The measured data is transmitted to a remote monitoring unit (RMU) for analysis. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated for different fault situations using an experimental set-up. The proposed exhibited high efficiency for current traveling wave fault location. The results were analyzed for fault location using the differentiator smoother to reduce the time of arrival errors. The proposed scheme is compared with a general traveling wave-based scheme for transmission line fault distance location. In all test cases, the proposed scheme offered very efficient results for all categories of faults with an average relative error of 0.024%.

CNC machine tools play important role in industries. The dynamic characteristics of the machine tools are the main factor which affected the status of a machine tools. A three-dimensional model of a five-axis CNC machine tool was built by using PRO/E. First, the model was imported into ANSYS software in order to analyse the dynamic characteristics of the machine tool;the first six natural frequencies and vibration modes of the machine tool were obtained through modal analysis and harmonic response analysis. The accuracy of the finite element analysis model was verified through the experimental results. Finally, the optimisation suggestions of the machine tool structure were proposed. © 2019 Institution of engineering and Technology. All rights reserved.

This paper proposes an optimization model for community microgrid. The proposed scheme performs the scheduling of domestic appliances in a community microgrid using renewable energy resources. The objective of the scheme is to minimize the total operating cost in the whole community. The optimization problem is solved using the branch and bound algorithm. Blockchain (BC) technology is introduced for secure implementation of the proposed approach. Machine to machine interaction is facilitated using BC technology. The transaction information/ data is stored in the distributed shared ledger. The smart contract is used to automatically trigger the flow of electricity and the movement of funds once the necessary conditions are met. © 2019 IEEE.

Machine chatter phenomenon has a great influence on the stability during the machining process of the machine tool. It has a great limitation on the machining efficiency of the machine tool and the machining accuracy of the product. The flutter of a machining center will appear when a certain machining center reaching a particular speed. The chatter will occur at a specific frequency. With the increase in the depth of cutting and the spindle speed, the value of chatter frequency will have complex changes;through the vibration test, it was confirmed that the two chatter frequencies are the natural frequencies of the product system and the spindle system, respectively. Improve the optimisation parameters and propose ways to suppress chatter. © 2019 Institution of engineering and Technology. All rights reserved.

Respiratory symptoms can be a caused by different underlying conditions, and are often caused by viral infections, such as Influenza-like illnesses or other emerging viruses like the Coronavirus. These respiratory viruses, often, have common symptoms, including coughing, high temperature, congested nose, and difficulty breathing. However, early diagnosis of the type of the virus, can be crucial, especially in cases such as the recent COVID-19 pandemic. One of the factors that contributed to the spread of the pandemic, was the late diagnosis or confusing it with regular flu-like symptoms. Science has proved that one of the possible differentiators of the underlying causes of these different respiratory diseases is coughing, which comes in different types and forms. Therefore, a reliable lab-free tool for early and more accurate diagnosis that can differentiate between different respiratory diseases is very much needed. This paper proposes an end-to-end portable system that can record data from patients with symptom, including coughs (voluntary or involuntary) and translate them into health data for diagnosis, and with the aid of machine learning, classify them into different respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19. With the ongoing efforts to stop the spread of the COVID-19 disease everywhere today, and against similar diseases in the future, our proposed low cost and user-friendly solution can play an important part in the early diagnosis. Direct current micro-grid (DCMG) based on renewable energy sources (RES) is facing an issue of maintaining standard voltage at DC bus under variable power generation and utilization. This paper proposes the DCMG based on distributed energy sources (DES) and buck-boost converter to maintain standard voltage at DC bus. Photovoltaic panel (PV), wind turbine (WT) and battery are utilized as DES. PV, battery and WT are linked to DC bus through buck-boost converter. The simulation model of PV and WT has been developed using MULTISIM simulation tool. To measure the performance of the designed system, the DC load of 500 watt has been organized for DCMG system. The protection from reverse current flow and over voltage is also provided. The simulation outcomes verified that, at DC bus standard voltage has been maintained for both utilization and generation. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper implemented a current reconstruction system based on independent component analysis and magnetic field sensors. In this paper both the normal approximation and interfered approximation of magnetic flux density generated by current carrying conductors and sensed by four magnetic sensors are presented and discussed. The output voltage of the sensor array with and without interference was calculated based on the comprehensive independent component analysis algorithm. The relative reconstruction error based on the algorithm for array output voltage are within acceptable levels for protective devices proving the feasibility of the algorithm for source reconstruction. © 2019 IEEE.

Recent object detection models have achieved satisfactory performance by deep learning with large-scale annotated datasets. However, these models often perform poorly when the training examples are not sufficient enough, especially for one-shot object detection where there is only one training example of each target class. In this paper, we propose a network parameter generation framework for effective one-shot object detection. By leveraging the semantic relationship between the source-domain and the target-domain (new classes), our framework can generate network parameters for the new classes directly. Furthermore, we develop two implementation schemes for this framework: weighting-based parameter generation and regression-based parameter generation. These two schemes use different information to construct the relationship and transfer knowledge from the source-domain to the target-domain. Experiments on the PASCAL-OSCD benchmark show that our methods can significantly boost the performance of one-shot object detection. © 2019 IEEE.
