Changes in brain functional network connectivity after stroke

Studies have shown that functional network connection models can be used to study brain net- work changes in patients with schizophrenia. In this study, we inferred that these models could also be used to explore functional network connectivity changes in stroke patients. We used independent component analysis to find the motor areas of stroke patients, which is a novel way to determine these areas. In this study, we collected functional magnetic resonance imaging datasets from healthy controls and right-handed stroke patients following their first ever stroke. Using independent component analysis, six spatially independent components highly correlat- ed to the experimental paradigm were extracted. Then, the functional network connectivity of both patients and controls was established to observe the differences between them. The results showed that there were 11 connections in the model in the stroke patients, while there were only four connections in the healthy controls. Further analysis found that some damaged connections may be compensated for by new indirect connections or circuits produced after stroke. These connections may have a direct correlation with the degree of stroke rehabilitation. Our findings suggest that functional network connectivity in stroke patients is more complex than that in hea- lthy controls, and that there is a compensation loop in the functional network following stroke. This implies that functional network reorganization plays a very important role in the process of rehabilitation after stroke.

Deep learning-based methods have shown their wide application prospects in the field of solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC) prediction. However, the irrationality of the prediction object and the lack of prediction accuracy have hindered the progress of the prediction methods for SOFC systems. Therefore, two algorithms are proposed in this study, a feature selection algorithm based on maximum information coefficient and Bayesian information criterion for identifying key variables that are sensitive to changes in the SOFC system, and a prediction model based on a genetic algorithm optimized for sequence to sequence architecture. The M/BIC algorithm reduces the number of features by 62.5% (from 40 to 15), which contributes to the acceleration of the algorithm training and the subsequent sensor layout optimization. The prediction model incorporates a two-dimensional convolutional neural network and a multi-head attention mechanism to capture more information in the input sequence, an encoder-decoder architecture and a Gated recurrent unit to better predict performance trends. Tests with real experimental data show significant changes in feature dimensionality reduction and prediction accuracy. © 2024 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

In this paper, a fully circuit implementation of Memristive Neural Network (MNN) is proposed. The forward calculation of the network is based on winner-take-all (WTA) mechanism. The weight updating is achieved through the difference of pre-spike and post-spike, which is more close to the biological weight adjustment mechanism. The network is implemented in a full circuit without additional control units. The designed circuit consists of four modules. The memristive crossbar array module with one-memristor (1M) unit structure can effectively calculate the vector-matrix multiplication with only one step. The switch S is replaced by the transistor in the designed leaky-integrate-and-fire (LIF) module, which can control the integration and leakage of the membrane voltage and realize the lateral inhibition between output neurons. Connecting the integrated monostable trigger and the difference circuit, the post-spike generating module can output the required post-spike. The signal switch module realizes the switching of signals connected to memristors by using voltage-controlled switches. The combination of two modules validly realizes weight updating. The functions of four modules are verified separately. We performed a simulation experiment of 5×3 pixels image classification based on the designed circuit in PSPICE. The circuit output results and the high classification accuracy prove the circuit can be effectively applied in pattern recognition. The noise experiment shows the robustness of the designed circuit. © 2021 IEEE.

Re-entry aircraft depends on aerodynamic force during flight. Because of windward rudder and lee rudder, there certainly exists aerodynamic coupling among pitch channel, yaw channel and roll channel under the situation of large attack angle and slip angle, and behaves couplings of inputs and states. This paper proposed decouple control of inputs aiming at the coupling problem of inputs, and the MIMO problem is transformed to a SISO one. For the SISO problem, the coupling of states can be solved by control system design to guarantee system stable and robust. © 2012 Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tec.

This paper proposes a novel system for generating 1-D m-scroll, 2-D m×n-grid multi-scroll, 3-D m×n×l-grid multi-scroll chaotic attractors (GMSCAs) via switching piecewise linear (PWL) function. First, a third-order linear system satisfying certain conditions is introduced as the original system. Then, by adding stair function, saturated function series and hysteresis function series to the third-order linear system, respectively, GMSCAs are generated along a certain line, or plane, or in the whole state space. Besides, some basic dynamical behaviors of the controlled system are investigated and numerical simulations are given to verify the effectiveness of this method.

In clinical practice, digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is a powerful technique for the visualization of blood vessels in X-ray image sequences. Different with traditional DSA image registration processes, in our proposed image registration method, the control points are selected from the vessel centerlines using multiscale Gabor filters, and mutual information (MI) is then taken as the similarity criterion to find the correspondences. Experimental results demonstrate our algorithm efficiently yields satisfying registration result for DSA images. © 2005 IEEE.

This paper proposes a systematically method for generating high-dimensional grid multi-scroll attractors (GMSAs), including 3-D, 4-D, 5-D and even higher-dimensional GMSAs. Firstly, based on a third-order linear system, higher-order linear systems are constructed by introducing state feedback controllers. Then, switching piecewise linear (PWL) functions, including stair function and saturated series function, are introduced, respectively, to make the higher-order systems generate high-dimensional GMSAs. Besides, some basic dynamical properties of GMSA systems are investigated and numerical simulations are given to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method.

Microgrids possess the ability to use renewable energy efficiently and play an increasingly significant role in environmental protection and sustainable development. Meanwhile, reversible solid oxide fuel cell (rSOC) is currently a new type of energy conversion and storage. Combining with microgrid systems is a great way to benefit from its high capacity, high efficiency, and cleanliness. However, rSOC's complex system of coupled heat, electricity, and gas presents a significant challenge in finding energy management strategies for microgrid applications containing rSOC. In this study, for a microgrid system combining rSOC, battery energy storage system (BESS), solar photovoltaic (PV), and wind turbine generator (WTG), we propose a model-based energy management strategy that simultaneously takes into account the economy of the microgrid system and the stability of the rSOC system. First of all, the microgrid is modeled with great detail, including the wind turbine, solar panels, battery storage system, and rSOC. In addition, the microgrid energy management problem is framed as a mathematical programming problem, with the attention focusing on the costs of BESS aging and operational energy loss of rSOC. In particular, this study also proposes a penalty strategy to reduce the power fluctuation amplitude of the rSOC system and reduce the mode switching frequency of the rSOC system. Using the solver, solving for each device's target power in a microgrid. The actual power operating curve is output by tracking the target power under slope constraints using the Simulink model. We then conduct a case study using data from Wuhan, China. Our research shows that compared with the control strategy based on rule control, the control strategy proposed in this study can reduce the power variation amplitude of the rSOC system by 79%, reduce the mode switching frequency by 85%, reduce the system operating cost by 4.5% and increase the energy self-sufficiency rate by 9%. © 2024 Techn

Based on Particle Filter, Gravity Gradient-Terrain aided position technology is proposed in this paper. With the sensitivity of gravity gradient to terrain, the gravity gradient reference map can be computed from the local terrain elevation data. The position can be actualized through matching the real-time measured gravity gradient data to the prepared gravity gradient reference map. The most widely used approximate filtering method is the extended Kaman filter (EKF). EKF is computationally simple but, the convergence of the state estimation for the position is not guaranteed. Particle filter (PF) makes use of the non-linear state and measurement functions, no linearization technology is needed. PF can assure the convergence of the state estimation which follows from the classical results on convergence of Bayesian estimators. Simulations have been done and Particle filter has been shown to be a superior alternative to the EKF in the gravity gradient-terrain matching navigation systems. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

In this paper, we formulate and investigate a memristor-based switching network which is directly extended from Itoh and Chua's chaotic circuit. Conditions are derived which ensure the existence of an equilibrium point and the uniformly stable for state trajectories of the memristor-based switching network. The analysis in the paper employs results from the theory of differential equations with discontinuous right-hand side as introduced by Filippov. It is believed that the criteria in this paper is also valuable in the design of memristor-based switching network which can be used to solve efficiently classes of optimization problems arising in practical engineering applications. © 2011 IEEE.
