Correspondence pruning aims to search consistent correspondences (inliers) from a set of putative correspondences. It is challenging because of the disorganized spatial distribution of numerous outliers, especially when putative correspondences are largely dominated by outliers. It is more challenging to ensure effectiveness while maintaining efficiency. In this paper, we propose an effective and efficient method for correspondence pruning. Inspired by the success of attentive context in correspondence problems, we first extend the attentive context to the first-order attentive context and then introduce the idea of attention in attention (ANA) to model second-order attentive context for correspondence pruning. Compared with first-order attention that focuses on feature-consistent context, second-order attention dedicates to attention weights itself and provides an additional source to encode consistent context from the attention map. For efficiency, we derive two approximate formulations for the naive implementation of second-order attention to optimize the cubic complexity to linear complexity, such that second-order attention can be used with negligible computational overheads. We further implement our formulations in a second-order context layer and then incorporate the layer in an ANA block. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method is effective and efficient in pruning outliers, especially in high-outlier-ratio cases. Compared with the state-of-the-art correspondence pruning approach LMCNet, our method runs 14 times faster while maintaining a competitive accuracy. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Textural fabric defect detection using adaptive quantized Gray-level Co-occurrence Matrix and Support Vector Description Data

A new defect detection algorithm base on Support Vector Data Description (SVDD) is proposed. A fabric texture model is built on the gray-level histogram of textural fabric image. Two Gray-level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) features are used to characterize the fabric texture. And an adaptive quantization scheme base on the texture mode is proposed to reduce the size of GLCM and reduce the computational complexity of feature extraction. Besides, twonew features are proposed to characterize the continuous property of the fabric defects. The SVDD classifier is used as a detector for defect detection. Experimental results of real fabric defects are provided to validate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed detection algorithm. And a prototyped detection system is built to evaluate the real-time performance of the detection algorithm. © 2012 Asian Network for Scientific Information.

In this paper, we consider the problem of sampleddata active anti-disturbance control design for multi-rate control system subject to delayed sampled-data output. The plant considered in this paper is equipped with a slow-rate sensor and a fastrate actuator. In the presence of non-vanishing disturbance, a new output predictor-based observer is first proposed by only using the delayed sampled-data output, so as to effectively estimate system state and disturbance in the inter-sample time interval.A new sampled-data controller that updates at a fast-rate is then designed with the help of active anti-disturbance *** to prediction and active anti-disturbance techniques, the proposed sampled-data control method can effectively reject the influence of non-vanishing disturbance despite slow-rate sampling and delay of sensor. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed control method is demonstrated via simulation results of a practical example of the visual servoing control for an inertially stabilized platform.

Microgrids subjected to secondary cooperative control encounter significant challenges, including operational constraints and clock drifts, adversely affecting their stability and efficiency. This paper provides conditions that assure optimal microgrid performance in both transient and steady-state scenarios, focusing on the effects of clock drifts and fluctuations in load. Furthermore, we introduce a novel approach for designing secondary control parameters, specifically engineered to minimize steady-state discrepancies attributable to clock drifts while ensuring adherence to standards for transient operations. Comprehensive experimental validations corroborate the effectiveness of our proposed solutions. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, a new fabric defect detection algorithm base on undecimated wavelet transform is proposed. The selection scheme of wavelet decomposition scales is investigated to set the decomposition scales adaptively to the fabric texture. The objective of the scheme is to enhance the energy of defective region and attenuate the energy of non-defective region. And the performance of detection results with different number of decomposition scales is also discussed. A simple and computationally effective data fusion scheme combined with amplitudes division of wavelet coefficients is used to fuse data from multiple scales together. And several features based on defective energy estimation are extracted from fused image. By examining the extracted features the proposed algorithm can provide not only the location of defects but also some detailed information about them which can be used for defect recognition and classification. Experimental results of real fabric defects are provided to validate the effectiveness and robustness of the defect detection algorithm. © 2011 Asian Network for Scientific Information.

Generating Natural Language adversarial examples through an improved beam search algorithm

The research of adversarial attacks in the text domain attracts many interests in the last few years, and many methods with a high attack success rate have been proposed. However, these attack methods are inefficient as they require lots of queries for the victim model when crafting text adversarial examples. In this paper, a novel attack model is proposed, its attack success rate surpasses the benchmark attack methods, but more importantly, its attack efficiency is much higher than the benchmark attack methods. The novel method is empirically evaluated by attacking WordCNN, LSTM, BiLSTM, and BERT on four benchmark datasets. For instance, it achieves a 100% attack success rate higher than the state-of-the-art method when attacking BERT and BiLSTM on IMDB, but the number of queries for the victim models only is 1/4 and 1/6.5 of the state-of-the-art method, respectively. Also, further experiments show the novel method has a good transferability on the generated adversarial examples. © 2021, CC BY.

A transient, six-cylinder diesel engine model for cold test has been developed for analyzing the engine fault through the engine torque curve. The model is based on physically working cycle, thermodynamic theory and dynamics mechanism. The simulation of this model, implemented on Matlab/Simulink, can not only achieve engine faults detection before hot test, but also indicate different causes of engine faults, such as initial phase change, intake valve closing-time delay, and so on. It is shown that the diesel engine model for cold test proves its significance to improving cold test technology.

The embedded block coding with optimized truncation (EBCOT) is the state-of-the-art coding technique for image compression, which is the heart of the latest still image compression standard JPEG2000. EBCOT can be partitioned into three steps: bit plane coding (BPC), context adaptive binary arithmetic coding (CABAC) and postcompression rate-distortion (PCRD) optimization. The bit plane coding in JPEG2000 is a fractional bit-plane coding method, in which the transformed coefficients of a code block are coded bit plane by bit plane with 3 passes in each bit-plane, and context-decision (CX-D) pair of the coded symbol is generated for CABAC. In this paper, a new word-level sequential (WLS) coding scheme for BPC is presented, which makes all the passes coding be completed in one scan, with the context formation in all bit-planes being performed in parallel and all the samples being coded in sequential. The status variables used in context formation are produced on-the-fly. This new algorithm can efficiently implement both the regular mode and vertical causal one recommended by JPEG2000. The proposed algorithm reduces efficiently the size of memory and the amount of memory accessing, and increases significantly the speed of coding. It is well suited for both software and hardware implementation.1 © IEEE.

With the wide use of power conversion devices, harmonic currents are being injected into the power grid. Shunt Active Power Filters (SAPF) is a power electronic device to compensate the harmonic currents caused by nonlinear loads. As the foundation of the harmonics recognition and compensation, harmonic extraction techniques are becoming more and more important. This paper proposes a new harmonic extraction method based on the Echo State Networks (ESN). ESN is a new type of Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), which has much faster training speed than other types of RNN. To evaluate the dynamic system modeling capability of the ESN, the ESN with different dynamic reservoir size are discussed. The performance of the ESN based harmonic extraction method is compared with traditional methods and method based on multilayer perceptron networks (MLP). The ESN algorithm is trained and tested in MATlab.
