Knowledge tracing (KT) is a crucial task in online learning, aimed at tracing and predicting each student's knowledge states throughout their learning process. Over the past decade, it has garnered widespread attention due to it provides the potential for more tailored and adaptive online learning experiences. Although most current KT methodologies emphasize optimizing network structures to enhance predictive accuracy for future student performance, they often neglect anomalous interactions in students' learning processes, which may arise from low data quality (i.e., inferior question quality) and abnormal student behaviors (i.e., guessing and mistakes). To this end, in this paper, we propose a novel framework, termed HD-KT, designed to enhance the robustness of existing KT methodologies with Hybrid learning interactions Denoising approach. Specifically, we introduce two detectors for anomalous learning interactions, namely knowledge state-guided anomaly detector and student profile-guided anomaly detector. In the first detection module, we design a sequential autoencoder to identify anomalous learning interactions by detecting atypical student knowledge states. In the second module, we incorporate an attention mechanism by modeling a student's long-term profile to capture irregular interactions. Extensive experiments on four real-world benchmark datasets have decisively shown our HD-KT markedly boosts the robustness of numerous prevailing KT models, consequently increasing the accuracy of future student performance predictions. Additionally, our case studies highlight the versatility of HD-KT in addressing diverse downstream tasks, such as exercise quality analysis and learning behavior-based student clustering. © 2024 ACM.

On the error coefficients of asymptotic frame error rate optimal binary linear codes

A binary linear code is called asymptotic frame error rate (AFER)-optimal if it achieves the maximum possible value of the minimum distance while having the smallest value of the corresponding error coefficient. Over the additive white Gaussian noise channel and under maximum-likelihood decoding, AFER-optimal codes attain the best possible asymptotic frame error rate at high signal-to-noise ratio. In this paper, we present several bounds on the smallest error coefficients of binary linear codes and give several constructions of AFER-optimal binary linear codes. Many examples confirm that our bounds are sharp on numerous occasions. In addition, we give two families of AFER-optimal codes that respectively attain the proposed bounds with equality. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

To achieve high precision direction-of-arrival estimation of MIMO arrays in highly coupled environments, based on the difference and cooperative array principles, the uniform array fitted with 5 base layer array and the uniform array fitted with 6 base layer array were used as transmitting arrays, and with the addition of 1 base layer layer sparse array as receiving array, two sparse multi-in multiple-out arrays were designed for single-base radar, which have the characteristics of low coupling of transmitting array and high freedom of receiving array.

In this work, we propose a no-reference image quality evaluation approach, aiming to solve the problem that the traditional convolutional neural network is insufficient to express the global information of the image. Therefore, in order to make the captured image features have the coherence of global context information, we combine a Transformer structure widely used in NLP (natural language processing) with the traditional CNN to realize the attention mechanism in the human visual perception characteristics. Firstly, the self-attention mechanism of Transformer is used to learn the global representation of the image from the multi-layer features extracted from different levels of CNN. Additionally, to forecast the ultimate image quality score, the global and local attributes are combined. Finally, the proposed algorithm is evaluated on three public datasets commonly used in CSIQ [1], TID2013 [2] and LIVE [3]. Compared with eight traditional no-reference image quality evaluation algorithms and five methods based on deep learning, the proposed algorithm achieves competitive results. © 2023 IEEE.

A double-layer stacked patch filtering antenna with broadband circular polarization performance is proposed in this paper. The main patch consists of a corner-truncated square patch with two shorting pins. The designed two shorting pins are located in the main patch and the upper stacked patch structure are introduced and designed, which can gain two radiation nulls for realizing the filtering effect of the proposed antenna. The circularly polarized (CP) operation is realized by corner-truncated square patch. In addition, to increase the axial ratio (AR) bandwidth, a rectangular slot is carved on the ground plane. The simulated results indicate that the researched antenna can provide the impedance bandwidth of 20.58% (2.68-3.29 GHz) and AR bandwidth of 9.5% (2.80-3.08 GHz). Moreover, The average realized gain of the simulation is 6.48 dBic over bandwidth.

Joint Squared-Sine Function and ANM DOA Estimation for RIS-Based Sensing Systems

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is an emerging technology for improving the performance of wireless communications. In this letter, a joint Squared-Sine function and atomic norm minimization (ANM), denoted as SS-ANM, is proposed for passive sensing assisted by RIS in wireless communication systems interfered by a wireless access point (AP). The proposed joint optimization is used to estimate the targets’ direction-of-arrival (DOA), employing the spatial domain sparsity of the received signals. The optimal solution is achieved from the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). With the help of the Squared-Sine function as the cost function, the proposed solution provides better estimation accuracy under various noises besides Gaussian noise, and meanwhile requires a lower computation complexity. Simulation results verify the superiority of the proposed joint minimization over existing DOA estimation methods. © 2023, CC BY.

Cognitive diagnosis plays a vital role in modern intelligent education platforms to reveal students’ proficiency in knowledge concepts for subsequent adaptive tasks. However, due to the requirement of high model interpretability, existing manually designed cognitive diagnosis models hold too simple architectures to meet the demand of current intelligent education systems, where the bias of human design also limits the emergence of effective cognitive diagnosis models. In this paper, we propose to automatically design novel cognitive diagnosis models by evolutionary multiobjective neural architecture search (NAS). Specifically, we observe existing models can be represented by a general model handling three given types of inputs and thus first design an expressive search space for the NAS task in cognitive diagnosis. Then, we propose multi-objective genetic programming (MOGP) to explore the NAS task’s search space by maximizing model performance and interpretability. In the MOGP design, each architecture is transformed into a tree architecture and encoded by a tree for easy optimization, and a tailored genetic operation based on four sub-genetic operations is devised to generate offspring effectively. Besides, an initialization strategy is also suggested to accelerate the convergence by evolving half of the population from existing models’ variants. Experiments on two real-world datasets demonstrate that the cognitive diagnosis models searched by the proposed approach exhibit significantly better performance than existing models and also hold as good interpretability as human-designed models. A Novel Underdetermined Blind Source Separation Algorithm of Frequency-hopping signals via Time-frequency Analysis

To address the significant performance degradation of conventional underdetermined blind source separation algorithms for frequency-hopping (FH) signals under time-frequency (TF) overlapping conditions, this paper presents a novel three-stage scheme based on the TF distribution of FH signals. In the first stage, key parameters of the FH signal are estimated using a TF binary graph. In the second step, the initial mixing matrix is estimated for non-overlapping and overlapping carrier frequencies employing density peaks clustering and tensor decomposition methods, respectively. In the third step, the final mixing matrix, directions of arrival (DOA), and source signals are estimated using the expectation-maximization algorithm within the nonnegative matrix factorization model. Finally, different segments of the FH signals are spliced together based on the DOAs of different source signals. Comprehensive experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed algorithm compared to state-of-the-art algorithms. Even at a signal-to-noise ratio of 5 dB, the correlation coefficient of the estimated source signals can still reach 0.91. © 2023, CC BY.
