Current model quantization methods have shown their promising capability in reducing storage space and computation complexity. However, due to the diversity of quantization forms supported by different hardware, one limitation of existing solutions is that usually require repeated optimization for different scenarios. How to construct a model with flexible quantization forms has been less studied. In this paper, we explore a one-shot network quantization regime, named Elastic Quantization Neural Networks (EQ-Net), which aims to train a robust weight-sharing quantization supernet. First of all, we propose an elastic quantization space (including elastic bit-width, granularity, and symmetry) to adapt to various mainstream quantitative forms. Secondly, we propose the Weight Distribution Regularization Loss (WDR-Loss) and Group Progressive Guidance Loss (GPG-Loss) to bridge the inconsistency of the distribution for weights and output logits in the elastic quantization space gap. Lastly, we incorporate genetic algorithms and the proposed Conditional Quantization-Aware Accuracy Predictor (CQAP) as an estimator to quickly search mixed-precision quantized neural networks in supernet. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our EQ-Net is close to or even better than its static counterparts as well as state-of-the-art robust bit-width methods. With regard to distance measurement in daily life, the traditional way is to measure the distance between objects through rulers. Nowadays, ultrasonic ranging, laser ranging, radar ranging, sonar ranging and other technologies have enriched the way of distance measurement. At the same time, it is possible to choose a suitable solution according to different actual environments. This paper design an intelligent ultrasonic ranging system through the research of ultrasonic characteristics and the application of existing ultrasonic ranging. The paper introduces the design ideas and process of the intelligent ultrasonic ranging system. Through the design of independent buttons, the normal mode ranging and the high-precision mode ranging are generated to achieve the division of the measurement range and accuracy. When the distance between the measured object and the intelligent ultrasonic ranging system is less than the preset value or exceeds the range of this mode, the buzzer will sound an alarm, so that the system can be used in more fields. The system detects the current ambient temperature in real time, so that the distance measurement can be compensated and modified by the temperature compensation algorithm in the system to achieve self-adaptation and reduce measurement errors. © 2022 IEEE.

Predicting the remaining useful life (RUL) of bearings is important for the secure running and reducing maintenance costs of rotating machinery. In this article, a novel feature extraction and RUL prediction framework of bearing is proposed by utilizing time-frequency representations (TFRs) and deep neural network with double attention (DA-DNN). Firstly, TFRs are employed to extract the degradation features associated with RUL prediction, which can effectively cope with the non-stationary properties of bearing vibration data. The reduced dimensional TFRs are then used as the DA-DNN model input. Afterwards, DA-DNN is developed by employing the double attention structure to extract the key degradation features more efficiently. The dual-attention structure has ability to capture the degradationrelated features from two aspects of channel attention and spatial attention, which enables the network to focus on high RUL-relevant information. Finally, the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of DA-DNN, which shows higher performance in terms of prediction accuracy compared to other deep learning (DL) methods.

Predicting network dynamics based on data, a problem with broad applications, has been studied extensively in the past, but most existing approaches assume that the complete set of historical data from the whole network is available. This requirement presents a great challenge in applications, especially for large, distributed networks in the real world, where data collection is accomplished by many clients in a parallel fashion. Often, each client only has the time series data from a partial set of nodes and the client has access to only partial timestamps of the whole time series data and partial structure of the network. Due to privacy concerns or license related issues, the data collected by different clients cannot be shared. To accurately predict the network dynamics while protecting the privacy of different parties is a critical problem in the modern time. Here, we propose a solution based on federated graph neural networks (FGNNs) that enables the training of a global dynamic model for all parties without data sharing. We validate the working of our FGNN framework through two types of simulations to predict a variety of network dynamics (four discrete and three continuous dynamics). As a significant real-world application, we demonstrate successful prediction of State-wise influenza spreading in the USA. Our FGNN scheme represents a general framework to predict diverse network dynamics through collaborative fusing of the data from different parties without disclosing their privacy. © 2022, CC BY.

Flexible capacitive pressure sensors are optimal for wearable electronic equipment owing to their advantages of simplicity in architecture and low power consumption. However, fabricating a bionic flexible capacitive pressure sensor with high sensitivity and a wide dynamic range of detection is still a great challenge. In this article, we propose a flexible pressure sensor based on femtosecond laser ablation with a treefrog suckers bionic microstructure. The treefrog suckers capacitive pressure sensor (TSCPS) has high sensitivity (0-10 kPa, 0.0762 kPa -1 ), wide detection range (500 kPa), high repeatability (>12000 s at 10 kPa), and fast response time (62.5 ms). For practical applications, the TSCPS was positioned on the wrist, palm, and sole of the hand to detect the movements of each part accordingly. The experimental findings indicate that the TSCPS has broad promising applications in bionic wearable products such as human locomotion monitoring.

It is well known that the inverse design of terahertz (THz) multi-resonant graphene metasurfaces by using traditional deep neural networks (DNNs) has limited generalization ability. In this paper, we propose improved Transformer and conditional generative adversarial neural networks (CGAN) for the inverse design of graphene metasurfaces based upon THz multi-resonant absorption spectra. The improved Transformer can obtain higher accuracy and generalization performance in the StoV (Spectrum to Vector) design compared to traditional multilayer perceptron (MLP) neural networks, while the StoI (Spectrum to Image) design achieved through CGAN can provide more comprehensive information and higher accuracy than the StoV design obtained by MLP. Moreover, the improved CGAN can achieve the inverse design of graphene metasurface images directly from the desired multi-resonant absorption spectra. It is turned out that this work can finish facilitating the design process of artificial intelligence-generated metasurfaces (AIGM), and even provide a useful guide for developing complex THz metasurfaces based on 2D materials using generative neural networks. Hyperspectral image (HSI) plays a vital role in various fields such as agriculture and environmental monitoring. However, due to the expensive acquisition cost, the number of hyperspectral images is limited, degenerating the performance of downstream tasks. Although some recent studies have attempted to employ diffusion models to synthesize HSIs, they still struggle with the scarcity of HSIs, affecting the reliability and diversity of the generated images. Some studies propose to incorporate multi-modal data to enhance spatial diversity, but spectral fidelity cannot be ensured. In addition, existing HSI synthesis models are typically uncontrollable or only support single-condition control, limiting their ability to generate accurate and reliable HSIs. To alleviate these issues, we propose HSIGene, a novel HSI generation foundation model which is based on latent diffusion and supports multi-condition control, allowing for more precise and reliable HSI generation. To enhance the spatial diversity of the training data while preserving spectral fidelity, we propose a new data augmentation method based on spatial super-resolution, in which HSIs are upscaled first, and thus abundant training patches could be obtained by cropping the high-resolution HSIs. In addition, to improve the perceptual quality of the augmented data, we introduce a novel two-stage HSI super-resolution framework, which first applies RGB bands super-resolution and then utilizes our proposed Rectangular Guided Attention Network (RGAN) for guided HSI super-resolution. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed model is capable of generating a vast quantity of realistic HSIs for downstream tasks such as denoising and super-resolution. Pyramid Convolution and Multi-Frequency Spatial Attention for Fine-Grained Visual Categorization

Learning diverse detailed feature is crucial for fine-grained visual categorization (FGVC). However, most of existing methods for FGVC use the standard convolution for feature extraction which leads to the loss of many subtle but important features. Besides, in the existing attention models for FGVC, the features are aggregated by a simple global average pooling operation, which is unable to characterize complex feature information. To address these problems, we propose pyramid convolution and multi-frequency spatial attention (PCMFSA) for FGVC. To capture spatial context dependencies of different levels and avoid the loss of the subtle features, pyramid convolution, which uses convolution kernels with various sizes, is introduced in the backbone network. To reduce the influence of background noise and obtain diverse fine-grained feature information, we propose multi-frequency spatial attention (MFSA) module, in which two channel-wise grouping operations are designed and discrete cosine transform (DCT) in the frequency domain is adopted to enhance features of different spatial positions. Moreover, to mine more valuable regions, peak suppression is used to suppress high-response regions after MFSA. A large number of experimental results show that our method achieves state-of-the-art results on four popularly FGVC datasets. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Traditional multislice iterative phase retrieval (MIPR) from snapshot two-dimensional measurements suffers from the two limitations of pre-defined support and iterative stagnation. To eliminate the requirements for priori knowledge of support masks, this paper proposes a multislice iterative phase retrieval algorithm based on compressed support detection and hybrid input-output algorithm (CSD-MIPR-HIO). The CSD-MIPR-HIO algorithm firstly uses compressed support detection to adaptively detect the support masks of each plane from single 2D diffraction intensity, and then uses a hybrid input-output (HIO) iterative algorithm for MIPR. The proposed method breaks the limitations of traditional MIPR algorithms on priori knowledge of support masks and achieve high-quality reconstruction in noisy environments. Numerical and optical experiments confirm the feasibility, superiority, and robustness of our proposed CSD-MIPR-HIO method. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd
