Minimum changes bandwidth allocation (MCBA) is an optimal video transmission scheme resulting in the minimum number of rate changes with the minimum peak rate, which can reduce renegotiation frequency in statistical multiplexing service. The existing MCBA algorithm with searching frontiers, however, has a high computational complexity, which depressed the applicability of MCBA. In this paper, we design a fast algorithm of MCBA that examines for the bounded point based on the convex envelopes of the overflow and underflow curve. As a result, our algorithm can work out an MCBA scheme in a shorter time because we can find the bounded point with a linear complexity, and calculate each transmission rate within several iterations. The simulation using real video traces confirmed the philosophy and efficiency of our algorithm.

In order to achieve the access of massive highdimensional data on P2P network efficiently, we present a distributed similarity retrieval system named R-Chord using modified iDistance based on Relative Position Code (RPCID). RPCID calculates the lower bound distance between the query point and the data point using Relative Position Code (RPC). RPC is a data object encoding method based on spatial location information. A RPC area can be discarded when the lower bound distance is greater than the pruning distance. Experimental results show that RPCID can achieve better time performance and resource consumption than iDistance.

In wireless sensor networks, the traditional intrusion detection can not detect the compromised nodes immediately. In this paper, we propose a secure routing protocol (Secure Relay Grid Routing Protocol) based on probability prediction to solve this problem. In the protocol, the network is divided into different small grids. Utilizing the geographic information and intrusion detection information, the proposed protocol is designed with a routing metric which is based on a mathematical prediction model. The routing metric could guarantee that the message detours those compromised grids that have not been detected by the intrusion detection. Theoretical analysis and OPNET simulation results show that the proposed protocol can provide a high delivery ratio and decrease the number of the compromised packets.

Traffic characteristics over space and time constitute an important aspect of cellular networks in consideration of resource provision, traffic engineering and system optimization. Despite recent progress in revealing temporal dynamics and spatial inhomogeneity of cellular traffic, limited knowledge about traffic dependence is gained. One of challenges comes from the absence of sustained observations at a network-wide scale. In this paper, we make an analysis on the week-long traffic generated by a large population of users in a city of China, and model traffic dependence along both space and time dimensions. The evaluation results suggest connections between spatio-temporal dependence of cellular traffic and the organization of human lives. Region differences are observed to impact traffic dependence to a great extent. Additionally, interactive knowledge between space and time enhances traffic prediction with a decrease in root-mean-square error of 2.8%~25.2%. We believe that these achievements will benefit multiple research and development areas such as network deploying and simulation researches.
