In this paper, we describe BUPT-MCPRL systems and evaluation results for TRECVID 2018 [15]. We join two tasks: activities in extended video and instance search. Activities in Extended Video (ActEV): we mainly improve our method in following three runs: p_baseline_1: the baseline of our method. In this submission, we combine the prior knowledge and design different rules to extract proposals. Then we detect events by applying trajectory analysis, image classification and action classification solutions for different type of events separately. p_baseline_17: use TRN replace TSN for Open_Trunk and Closing_Trunk event detection. p_baseline_19: fuse the target object detection results for interaction event detection. Instance Search (INS): We submit three runs for automatic search and one run for interactive search: F_E_BUPT_MCPRL_1: merge two rank list from location retrieval after person retrieval and person retrieval after location retrieval. F_E_BUPT_MCPRL_2: fine tune the rank score of F_E_BUPT_MCPRL_1 based on random forest classification extra score. F_E_BUPT_MCPRL_3: fine tune the rank score of F_E_BUPT_MCPRL_1 based on random forest classification extra score. I_E_BUPT_MCPRL_4: optimize rank list interactively based on F_E_BUPT_MCPRL_1. A generalized non-affine nonlinear power system model is presented for a single machine bus power system with a Static Var Compensator(SVC)or State Var system(SVS)for hybrid Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs).The model is constructed by differential algebraic equations on the MATlab-Simulink platform with the programming technique of its *** the inverse system method and the Linear Quadratic Regulation(LQR),an optimized SVC controller is *** simulations under three fault conditions show that the proposed controller can effectively improve the power system transient performance.

In this paper,we consider load balancing and maintenance of distributed similarity search system using locality sensitive hashing（LSH） in DHT-based structured P2P *** has been proven efficient in K-Nearest Neighbor（KNN） search in high ***,a number of schemes have been proposed to implement LSH over DHTbased peer-to-peer system to process distributed similarity *** provide an efficient structure using virtual nodes to manage the multi-dimensional LSH bucket space in DHT peers and maintenance algorithm,which improves load balancing in comparison with the state-of-the-art *** effectiveness of the proposed method is proved by experiments.

The video-on-demand systems and video share web are more and more popular in recent years. Video similarity search for content-based video retrieval is important in web service and research field. There is still no satisfying search method for scalable fast similarity search in large video database. In order to solve two challenging problems: video similarity measure and fast search method in large database, a novel efficient video similarity search strategy for video-on-demand systems is proposed in this paper. A compact video signature was computed according to image histogram and spatial-temporal features of video. The video similarity is measured by the computation of the distance of video signature. For the scalable computing requirement, a new search method based on Clustering Index Table was presented by index clustering. The experimental results from the query tests in large database show this method is highly efficient and effective for similar video search.

Bandwidth smoothing can increase the utility of network bandwidth by reducing the burstiness of a VBR (variable bit rate) video stream. To guarantee the quality of service of video-on-command service in home network, data transmission rate should not exceed the maximum data handling capacity of embedded terminals. This paper designs a streaming media system in home network, and puts forward a smoothing algorithm based on greedy algorithm for transmitting VBR video streams subjected to maximum data transmitting rate. The presented algorithm can decrease startup delay of streaming and meet the demand of client buffering requirement under the constraint of maximum transmission rate. Experiment results demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented algorithm. © 2010 IEEE.

Nearest-Neighbor (NN) search is an increasingly important problem in many computer applications, in which high dimensional massive datasets are involved. In this paper, we propose a P2P distributed indexing scheme to perform NN search in massive datasets. We consider the locality sensitive hashing (LSH) scheme under lp-metric to support similarity search in high dimensional space and we put forward a novel mapping from the multi-dimensional LSH bucket space to the one dimension DHT key space using nun-uniform Hilbert Curve. We consider the requirements of both similarity search and the maintenance of P2P network. Our indexing scheme preserves the locality sensitive property of LSH indexes and guarantees load balance in DHT networks. We also show how to leverage the LSH indexing scheme to efficiently process NN search in P2P network. Experiments on real world data confirm the effectiveness and efficiency of our approach and show the scalability gains compared to state-of-the-art schemes.

The paper presents a novel energy efficient routing scheme for photonic network on chip (PNoC) based on the micro-resonator which takes the insertion loss and the path-setup latency into consideration in order to design a high performance per watt multi-processors. The path-setup latency is a major contributor to the whole system's latency that has something to do with queuing. And insertion loss which has impact on power consumption is closely related to the number of micro-resonators in on state. To solve the multi-objective optimization problem, we design a straight line first heuristic routing scheme. The goal of this routing scheme is to reduce the path-setup latency and insertion loss. Simulation results show that this scheme can low the latency with lower the insertion loss as little as possible. ©2009 IEEE.

Mobile devices equipped with geo-location modules facilitate researches on the nature of human mobility. While valuable contributions have been made to discover trajectory patterns from movement history, there are still not a comparative amount of works specialized in analyzing how trajectory patterns change over time. In this paper, we facilitate this problem in a systematic and quantified manner as identifying potential change points of user trajectory patterns extracted from successive time intervals. Specifically, we present a unified, information-based measure to quantify pattern changes between two intervals, and perform a Bayesian analysis on a sequence of aggregate measures for each individual interval to detect the actual change points. Experimenting on a three-month long dataset in real campus WiFi networks, we show that our approach is effective to identify trajectory pattern changes in practice with a discussion on the impact of internal parameters of proposed model on detection performance. Furthermore, we also inspect external factors influencing user mobility in reality by associating trajectory pattern changes with public events, and there shows an interesting connection between group pattern changes and real-world principles such as the weekday calendar or public events such as the May Day holiday. © 2013 ACM.

This paper presents a hybrid navigation and control method for intelligent wheelchair. A robust and semi-supervised vision tracking method using Microsoft Kinect and obstacle avoidance navigation approach are integrated into a two-level control system. Then, position tracking control considering nonholonomic constraints are adopted for the motion control of wheelchairs. An indoor environment is set up for evaluating the application of the proposed approaches. The experimenta l results show that the proposed method is effective and can be used as a hands-free controller for the intelligent wheelchair. Copyright © 2013 IFAC.

this paper proposes a feedbackloop infrastructure attached to our legacy multimedia streaming system to continually monitor its activities and performance and rapidly recover the system from failures or error states. Our infrastructure consists of four componentsmonitors with sensors to measure and record the activities and state of among the components of the running system, analyzer to interpret and the logged data, planner to decide what action to take for reported situations and executants to adjust and reconfigure the system via effectors. An eventbased schema is proposed to efficiently deliver recorded system information among our infrastructure components. We summarize our successful examples using this approach in dynamically selfhealing for our streaming application.
