network analysis methods of time series provide a new analytical framework on describing complex behaviors using sample data. Reproducibility is one of the important principles in scientific research. This work focuses on the algorithm review and reproduction of time series network. We paid special attention to the applicability and data characteristics of the five typical algorithms: visibility graph, phase space reconstruction, fluctuation mode, symbolic representation and coarsened multidimensional time series. It provides a reference and inspiration for future analysis of time series with various characteristics. Although two pioneer methods are widely applicable, while the directed weighted network established by coarsening thoughts contains more information about time series. In addition, coarseness process makes these approaches perform better for massive data analysis. It should be noted that: the process of data coarsening needs to ensure that the data characteristics of the original time series are inherited. © 2023 The authors and IOS Press.

Existing works in event extraction typically extract event arguments within the sentence scope. However, besides the sentence level, events may also be naturally presented at the document level. A document-level event usually reflects, to some extent, the theme (i.e., the main content) of the document (e.g., electronic medical records and news articles), which is thus referred to as the thematic event. Thematic Event Extraction (TEE) aims to extract the arguments of thematic events. TEE faces a major challenge, i.e., the sparsity and dispersion of arguments, which means that the arguments of a thematic event are dispersed in different sentences of the document. To overcome this challenge, we propose an Event-related Sentence Detection based TEE model, called ESDTEE, which first detects the sentences related to the thematic event and then extracts the arguments only within these detected sentences using existing models. Extensive experiments with comprehensive analyses demonstrate the effectiveness of ESDTEE. © 2023 IEEE.

Human skeleton data, which has served in the aspect of human activity recognition, ought to be the most representative biometric characteristics due to its intuitivity and visuality. The state-of-the-art approaches mainly focus on improving modeling spatial correlations within graph topologies. However, the interframes motional representations are also of vital importance, and we argue that they are worth paying attention to and exploring. Therefore, a temporal refinement module with contrastive learning mechanism is proposed, fuzing as a complementary to the conventional spatial graph convolution layer. In addition, in order to further exploiting the interframe variances and generalizing graph convolutional network (GCN) operation to temporal dimension, a temporal-correlation matrix is introduced to effectively capture dynamic dependencies within frame-pairs, enhancing semantic feature representation. Moreover, since GCN is a typical local operator which lacks of capability to fully model the long-term relations along spatial and temporal variation, to move beyond the limitation, a spatial-temporal cascaded aggregation (STCA) module is designed to enlarge the receptive filter scale. The overall recognition framework consists of three above novelties, which is capable of achieving remarkable performance by evaluating on benchmark datasets (i.e., NTU RGB+D 60, NTU RGB+D 120, PKU-MMD, and Kinetics Skeleton 400). Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework, e.g., performing recognition accuracy rate of 90.9% and 96.8% on NTU RGB+D 60, 87.9% and 88.9% on NTU RGB+D 120. © 2020 IEEE.

In contemporary society, the role of networks in daily work and business activities is increasingly prominent. The enterprise intranet, serving as a crucial bridge for maintaining work stability, asset security, and business continuity, has garnered significant attention from both academia and industry in the field of intranet security detection. This study is based on the Log2Vec algorithm and involves the design and implementation of a Cyber Space Threat Detection System. The system, facilitated by the collaborative efforts of three modules-log ingestion, graph encoding, and security detection-effectively showcases user behavior, encodes logs into a heterogeneous graph, transforms the graph into vectors, and conducts cluster analysis to detect abnormal user behavior. Through in-depth research and systematic design, this study aims to provide enterprises with a more advanced and comprehensive intranet security detection solution to cope with evolving cybersecurity threats. © 2023 IEEE.

Traffic prediction plays a vital role in intelligent transportation systems, such as flow control and route planning. As a classical spatial-temporal prediction task, timely accurate traffic prediction is challenging due to complicated spatial-temporal correlation in traffic data. Traffic data contains short-term and long-term temporal sequential correlations, as well as local and global spatial correlations. In addition, traffic patterns at different time steps and the distribution of traffic data at various nodes may differ, so models need to have the ability to capture these temporal and spatial heterogeneities. To solve these issues, we propose a novel traffic prediction model, called Spatio-Temporal Attention network (STAN). It models short-term and long-term temporal correlations using Gate Recurrent Unit (GRU) and Heterogeneity-Aware Temporal Self-Attention (HA-TSA) mechanism, respectively. It further models local and global spatial correlations using Graph Attention network (GAT) and Heterogeneity-Aware Spatial Self-Attention (HA-SSA) mechanism, respectively. Based on traditional self-attention mechanism, HA-TSA and HA-SSA further learn different parameters for different nodes and different time steps to capture temporal and spatial heterogeneities. Besides, in order to extract the periodicity of traffic data, time stamps are concatenated to the original traffic features as auxiliary information. STAN also adds a centrality encoding based on node's degree to measure the importance of a node in the traffic network, thus helping to discover similar traffic patterns between nodes. Experimental results on two benchmark traffic datasets show that compared with the state-of-the-art baseline method, Mean Absolute Errors (MAEs) of STAN decrease by 7.48% and 7.77%, and Root Mean Squared Errors (RMSEs) of STAN decrease by 1.89% and 5.19%, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to solve the problem that the similarity method used in software module clustering can produce arbitrary decision, and the description matrix of dendrogram generated by base clustering in hierarchical clustering combination does not consider more characteristics of entities, a hierarchical clustering combination method based on intuitionistic fuzzy similarity (HCC-IFS) was proposed. In the process of entity similarity calculation, the intuitionistic fuzzy set theory and similarity calculation method are used to provide membership and non-membership attributes for each entity, so as to improve the merging efficiency and solve arbitrary decision problems. In the description matrix representation of base clustering, the absolute and relative features obtained from the dendrogram are used to construct the description matrix, and the generated description matrix is combined. Finally, the proposed algorithm is verified by experiments. Experimental results show that HCC-IFS can produce better clustering results and improve the recovery quality of software architecture. © 2023 IEEE.

On the Capacity of Citation Generation by Large Language Models

Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) appears as a promising method to alleviate the "hallucination" problem in large language models (LLMs), since it can incorporate external traceable resources for response generation. The essence of RAG in combating the hallucination issue lies in accurately attributing claims in responses to the corresponding retrieved documents. However, most of existing works focus on improving the quality of generated responses from the LLM, while largely overlooked its ability to attribute sources accurately. In this study, we conduct a systematic analysis about the capabilities of LLMs in generating citations within response generation, and further introduce a novel method to enhance their citation generation abilities. Specifically, we evaluate both the correctness and citation quality for seven widely-used LLMs on two benchmark datasets. Meanwhile, we introduce new citation evaluation metrics to eliminate the over-penalization of unnecessary and excessive citations in existing metrics. Furthermore, we propose a Generate-then-Refine method that completes relevant citations and removes irrelevant ones without altering the response text. The results on WebGLM-QA, ASQA and ELI5 datasets show that our method substantially improves the quality of citations in responses generated by LLMs. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Spatial-Temporal Semantic Feature Interaction network for Semantic Change Detection in Remote Sensing Images

Semantic Change Detection (SCD) in Remote Sensing Images (RSI) aims to identify changes in the type of Land Cover/Land Use (LCLU). The "from-to" information of the acquired image has more profound practical significance than Binary Change Detection (BCD). However, most deep learning-based SCD algorithms do not fully exploit the spatial-temporal information of multilevel features, leading to challenges in extracting LCLU features in complex scenes. To address these issues, we propose a Spatial-Temporal Semantic Feature Interaction network (STS-FINet) to improve the performance of SCD in RSI. The proposed STS-FINet comprises a Multi-Scale Feature Extraction Encoder (MS-FEE), a Transformer-based Multilevel Feature Interaction module (TML-FI), and a Multilevel Feature Fusion Decoder (ML-FFD). The MS-FEE extracts deep semantic and differential information from the RSI. The TML-FI is designed to mine the spatial-temporal information by extracting long-range dependencies and spatial information from multilevel features to improve spatial perception. Moreover, Mixed Spatial Reasoning Convolution block (MixSrc) is presented to enrich the spatial information by extracting the multiscale features, thus improving the model's capability to interpret complex scenes. Finally, ML-FFD integrates the multilevel features, resulting in the generation of the semantic change map. The effectiveness of the proposed STS-FINet is verified on two high-resolution RSI datasets. Experimental results show that the proposed STS-FINet achieves better change detection performance than SOTA methods. © 2008-2012 IEEE.
