Reversible Boolean function is a one-to-one function which maps n-bit input to n-bit output. Reversible logic synthesis has been widely studied due to its relationship with low-energy computation as well as quantum computation. In this work, we give a structured decomposition for even reversible Boolean functions (RBF). Specifically, for n ≥ 6, any even n-bit RBF can be decomposed to 7 blocks of (n − 1)-bit RBF, where 7 is a constant independent of n;and the positions of those blocks have large degree of freedom. Moreover, if the (n − 1)-bit RBFs are required to be even as well, we show for n ≥ 10, n-bit RBF can be decomposed to 10 even (n − 1)-bit RBFs. For simplicity, we say our decomposition has block depth 7 and even block depth 10. Our result improves Selinger’s work in block depth model, by reducing the constant from 9 to 7;and from 13 to 10 when the blocks are limited to be even. We emphasize that our setting is a bit different from Selinger’s. In Selinger’s constructive proof, each block is one of two specific positions and thus the decomposition has an alternating structure. We relax this restriction and allow each block to act on arbitrary (n − 1) bits. This relaxation keeps the block structure and provides more candidates when choosing positions of blocks. Quantum supremacy circuit simulation on sunway taihulight

With the rapid progress made by industry and academia, quantum computers with dozens of qubits or even larger size are being realized. However, the fidelity of existing quantum computers often sharply decreases as the circuit depth increases. Thus, an ideal quantum circuit simulator on classical computers, especially on high-performance computers, is needed for benchmarking and validation. We design a large-scale simulator of universal random quantum circuits, often called "quantum supremacy circuits", and implement it on Sunway TaihuLight. The simulator can be used to accomplish the following two tasks: 1) Computing a complete output state-vector;2) Calculating one or a few amplitudes. We target the simulation of 49-qubit circuits. For task 1), we successfully simulate such a circuit of depth 39, and for task 2) we reach the 55-depth level. To the best of our knowledge, both of the simulation results reach the largest depth for 49-qubit quantum supremacy circuits. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In order to provide personalized treatment for patients with tongue carcinoma, a probabilistic adaptive genetic algorithm neural network(PAGA-BP) model is proposed in this paper. The PAGA-BP model ameliorates selection sorting operator, adaptive crossover operator and u-adaptive mutation operator to optimize the initial weight of BP neural network. By comparing with traditional GA-BP neural network and BP neural network survival prediction model, the results show that PAGA-BP prediction model has the highest approximation accuracy and better survival period prediction.

Sea surface and ship have different backscattering mechanisms, in which surface scattering is predominant for sea surface in the low sea state case. Based on this fact, many ship detectors have been developed by suppressing the surface scattering resulted from sea surface. Actually, small ship may also have strong surface scattering sometimes. In such a case, the methods of avoiding using surface scattering features may easily miss the detection of small ships. To verify this point, in this paper, we first analyze the shortcomings of An's method which is based on surface scattering similarity and the power maximization synthesis detector (PMS), and then improve it for detecting small ships more effectively. In order to demonstrate the performance of the proposed method, AIRSAR L-Band Polarimetric SAR dataset is exploited. Comparing to other methods, the new method shows a better ship detection performance.

Sub-nanowires (SNWs) exhibit great potential applications in nanocomposites owing to their high specific surface area, high flexibility, and similarity to polymer chains in dimension, which are a good entry point to bridge inorganic materials and polymer materials. Herein, we synthesized hydroxyapatite sub-nanowires (HAP SNWs) and engineered hydroxyapatite sub-nanowires/polyimide (HSP) gels and films by simple mixing of HAP SNWs and polyimide (PI). Benefiting from the interactions between HAP SNWs and PI, these nanocomposites were a continuous hybrid network. As the increase of HAP SNWs contents, the viscosity and modulus of HSP gels were greatly improved by one or two orders of magnitude compared with PI gel. HSP films not only maintained high transparency but also gained high haze, as well as exhibited enhanced Young's modulus. Thus, both HSP gels and films developed in this work are promising for various applications in coatings and high-performance films.

The rapid development of mobile communication technologies prompts the emergence of mobile edge computing (MEC). As the key technology toward 5th generation (5G) wireless networks, it allows mobile users to offload their computational tasks to nearby servers deployed in base stations to alleviate the shortage of mobile resource. Nevertheless, various challenges, especially the edge-user-allocation problem, are yet to be properly addressed. Traditional studies consider this problem as a static global optimization problem where user positions are considered to be time-invariant and user-mobility-related information is not fully exploited. In reality, however, edge users are usually with high mobility and time-varying positions, which usually result in users reallocations among different base stations and impact on user-perceived quality-of-service (QoS). To overcome the above limitations, we consider the edge user allocation problem as an online decision-making and evolvable process and develop a mobility-aware and migration-enabled approach, named MobMig, for allocating users at real-time. Experiments based on real-world MEC dataset clearly demonstrate that our approach achieves higher user coverage rate and lower reallocations than traditional ones.

A common task in computational text analyses is to quantify how two corpora differ according to a measurement like word frequency, sentiment, or information content. However, collapsing the texts' rich stories into a single number is often conceptually perilous, and it is difficult to confidently interpret interesting or unexpected textual patterns without looming concerns about data artifacts or measurement validity. To better capture fine-grained differences between texts, we introduce generalized word shift graphs, visualizations which yield a meaningful and interpretable summary of how individual words contribute to the variation between two texts for any measure that can be formulated as a weighted average. We show that this framework naturally encompasses many of the most commonly used approaches for comparing texts, including relative frequencies, dictionary scores, and entropy-based measures like the Kullback-Leibler and Jensen-Shannon divergences. Through several case studies, we demonstrate how generalized word shift graphs can be flexibly applied across domains for diagnostic investigation, hypothesis generation, and substantive interpretation. By providing a detailed lens into textual shifts between corpora, generalized word shift graphs help computational social scientists, digital humanists, and other text analysis practitioners fashion more robust scientific narratives. Modeling Diverse Relevance Patterns in Ad-hoc Retrieval

Assessing relevance between a query and a document is challenging in ad-hoc retrieval due to its diverse patterns, i.e., a document could be relevant to a query as a whole or partially as long as it provides sufficient information for users’ need. Such diverse relevance patterns require an ideal retrieval model to be able to assess relevance in the right granularity adaptively. Unfortunately, most existing retrieval models compute relevance at a single granularity, either document-wide or passage-level, or use fixed combination strategy, restricting their ability in capturing diverse relevance patterns. In this work, we propose a data-driven method to allow relevance signals at different granularities to compete with each other for final relevance assessment. Specifically, we propose a HIerarchical Neural maTching model (HiNT) which consists of two stacked components, namely local matching layer and global decision layer. The local matching layer focuses on producing a set of local relevance signals by modeling the semantic matching between a query and each passage of a document. The global decision layer accumulates local signals into different granularities and allows them to compete with each other to decide the final relevance score. Experimental results demonstrate that our HiNT model outperforms existing state-of-the-art retrieval models significantly on benchmark ad-hoc retrieval datasets. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. In this paper, the design and analysis of a novel wideband dual-polarization coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed antenna for wireless communication systems is presented. The antenna can realize two orthogonal polarizations with low cross-polarization level by exciting two ports respectively. The proposed antenna has a small size of $60 \times 60 \times 1.6$ mm 3 , and the impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is as large as 66% relative to the centre frequency of 2.13 GHz. The antenna has many advantages, including low cross-polarization level, wide-bandwidth (1.42-2.83 GHz) and good isolation.

Convolutional Neural networks (CNN) and the locally connected layer are limited in capturing the importance and relations of different local receptive fields, which are often crucial for tasks such as face verification, visual question answering, and word sequence prediction. To tackle the issue, we propose a novel locally smoothed neural network (LSNN) in this paper. The main idea is to represent the weight matrix of the locally connected layer as the product of the kernel and the smoother, where the kernel is shared over different local receptive fields, and the smoother is for determining the importance and relations of different local receptive fields. Specifically, a multi-variate Gaussian function is utilized to generate the smoother, for modeling the location relations among different local receptive fields. Furthermore, the content information can also be leveraged by setting the mean and precision of the Gaussian function according to the content.
