Moving target defense (MTD) techniques are effective solutions to improve the network security by continuously reconfiguring the system setting. On the other hand, continuously transforming also increase the cost of defenders, so it is important to analyze the effectiveness of MTDs compared with their cost. Current researches lack of analyzing the effectiveness by mathematical theory compared with analyzing by experiment. Motivated by the above, we propose a novel three-dimension model named NPM jointly use N-version programming, Poisson process, Markov chain and martingale theory to analyze the effectiveness of the proposed MTD model. Our analysis points out the difficulty for a successful adversary to defeat the MTD system, which is related to the system configuration, such as the number of executors and the judgment criterion in every node, the transforming period and rang of system MTD transformation. Finally, we give advices on the design of the system in the daily defense and the attacked defense, with the goal of guaranteeing security with minimal cost.

Nowadays, with the increasing number of protein sequences all over the world, more and more people are paying their attention to predicting protein subcellular location. Since wet experiment is costly and time-consuming, the automatic computational methods are urgent. In this paper, we propose a variant model based on Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM) to predict protein subcellular location. In this model, we employ LSTM to capture long distance dependency features of the sequence data. Moreover, we adjust the loss function of the loss layer to solve multi-label classification problem. Experimental results demonstrate that, compared with the traditional machine learning methods, our method achieves the best performance in various evaluation metrics.

Automatic taxonomy construction aims to build a categorization system without human efforts. Traditional textual pattern based methods extract hyponymy relation in raw texts. However, these methods usually yield low precision and recall. In this paper, we propose a method to automatically find diffusing attributes to a category from Wikipedia infoboxes. We use the diffusing attribute to diffuse a coarse-grained category into several fine-grained subcategories and generate a finer-grained taxonomy. This paper investigates a fog computing-assisted multi-user simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) network, where multiple sensors with power splitting (PS) receiver architectures receive information and harvest energy from a hybrid access point (HAP), and then process the received data by using local computing mode or fog offloading mode. For such a system, an optimization problem is formulated to minimize the sensors' required energy while guaranteeing their required information transmissions and processing rates by jointly optimizing the multi-user scheduling, the time assignment, the sensors' transmit powers and the PS ratios. Since the problem is a mixed integer programming (MIP) problem and cannot be solved with existing solution methods, we solve it by applying problem decomposition, variable substitutions and theoretical analysis. For a scheduled sensor, the closed-form and semi-closedform solutions to achieve its minimal required energy are derived, and then an efficient multi-user scheduling scheme is presented, which can achieve the suboptimal user scheduling with low computational complexity. Numerical results demonstrate our obtained theoretical results, which show that for each sensor, when it is located close to the HAP or the fog server (FS), the fog offloading mode is the better choice;otherwise, the local computing mode should be selected. The system performances in a frame-by-frame manner are also simulated, which show that using the energy stored in the batteries and that harvested from the signals transmitted by previous scheduled sensors can further decrease the total required energy of the sensors. Mental stress is a critical factor affecting one's physical and mental well-being. At the early stage, the effect of stress is often underestimated, while it usually leads to serious issue Lateran. Therefore, it is crucial to detect stress before it evolves into severe problems. Traditional stress detection methods are based on either questionnaires or professional devices, which are time-consuming, costly and intrusive. With the popularity of smartphones embedded with a rich set of sensors, which can capture people's context, such as movement, sound, location and so on, it is an alternative way to access people's behavior by smartphones. Through an empirical study, this paper proposes an automatic and non-intrusive stress detection framework based on smartphone sensing data. First, we construct various discriminative features from multi-modality phone sensing data, in which both absolute and relative features are considered to make the model more personalized. Then, to tackle the challenge of label insufficiency, we further develop a co-training based method for stress level classification. Finally, we evaluate our model based on an open dataset, and the experimental results verify its advantages over other baselines.

A function computation problem over a directed acyclic network has been considered in the literature, where a sink node is required to compute a target function correctly with the inputs arbitrarily generated at multiple source nodes. The network links are error free but capacity limited, and the intermediate nodes perform network coding. The computing rate of a network code is the average number of times that the target function is computed for one use of the network, i.e., each link in the network is used at most once. In the existing papers, two cut-set bounds were proposed on the computing rate. However, we in this paper show that these bounds are not valid for general network function computation problems. We analyze the reason of the invalidity and propose a general cut-set bound by using a new equivalence relation associated with the inputs of the target function. Moreover, some results in the existing papers were proved by applying the invalid upper bound. We also justify the validity of these results. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

The failure of landing a job for college students could cause serious social consequences such as drunkenness and suicide. In addition to academic performance, unconscious biases can become one key obstacle for hunting jobs for graduating students. Thus, it is necessary to understand these unconscious biases so that we can help these students at an early stage with more personalized intervention. In this paper, we develop a framework, i.e., MAYA (Multi-mAjor emploYment stAtus) to predict students’ employment status while considering biases. The framework consists of four major components. Firstly, we solve the heterogeneity of student courses by embedding academic performance into a unified space. Then, we apply a generative adversarial network (GAN) to overcome the class imbalance problem. Thirdly, we adopt Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) with a novel dropout mechanism to comprehensively capture sequential information among semesters. Finally, we design a bias-based regularization to capture the job market biases. We conduct extensive experiments on a large-scale educational dataset and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of our prediction framework. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Breaking the time-reversal symmetry of light is of great importance for fundamental physics and has attracted increasing interest in the study of non-reciprocal photonic devices. Here, we experimentally demonstrate a chiral cavity QED system with multiple atoms strongly coupled to a Fabry-Pérot cavity. By polarizing the internal quantum state of the atoms, the time-reversal symmetry of the atom-cavity interaction is broken. The strongly coupled atom-cavity system can be described by non-reciprocal quasiparticles, i.e., the cavity polariton. When it works in the linear regime, the inherent nonreciprocity makes the system work as a single-photon-level optical isolator. Benefiting from the collective enhancement of multiple atoms, an isolation ratio exceeding 30 dB on the single-quanta level (∼ 0.1 photon on average) is achieved. The validity of the non-reciprocal device under zero magnetic field and the reconfigurability of the isolation direction are also experimentally demonstrated. Moreover, when the cavity polariton works in the nonlinear regime, the quantum interference between polaritons with weak anharmonicity induces non-reciprocal nonclassical statistics of cavity transmission from coherent probe light. The first Better evidence and RecommendatIons for the next Generation HealTh—BRIGHT symposium was held in Chongqing, China between June 21 and 23, 2024. The symposium did not only showcase the recent progress made by multidisciplinary teams in generating and translating evidence for children's healthcare, guideline development and evaluation, and the utilization of AI applications in pediatrics but also fostered transnational and transregional cooperation to promote the advancement of high-quality evidence and guidelines in this field. The symposium contributed significantly to the future development and transformation of research endeavors in pediatrics.
