Computer-Aided System for the Detection of Multicategory Pulmonary Tuberculosis in Radiographs

The early screening and diagnosis of tuberculosis plays an important role in the control and treatment of tuberculosis infections. In this paper, an integrated computer-aided system based on deep learning is proposed for the detection of multiple categories of tuberculosis lesions in chest radiographs. In this system, the fully convolutional neural network method is used to segment the lung area from the entire chest radiograph for pulmonary tuberculosis detection. Different from the previous analysis of the whole chest radiograph, we focus on the specific tuberculosis lesion areas for the analysis and propose the first multicategory tuberculosis lesion detection method. In it, a learning scalable pyramid structure is introduced into the Faster Region-based Convolutional network (Faster RCNN), which effectively improves the detection of small-area lesions, mines indistinguishable samples during the training process, and uses reinforcement learning to reduce the detection of false-positive lesions. To compare our method with the current tuberculosis detection system, we propose a classification rule for whole chest X-rays using a multicategory tuberculosis lesion detection model and achieve good performance on two public datasets (Montgomery: AUC = 0.977 and accuracy = 0.926; Shenzhen: AUC = 0.941 and accuracy = 0.902). Our proposed computer-aided system is superior to current systems that can be used to assist radiologists in diagnoses and public health providers in screening for tuberculosis in areas where tuberculosis is endemic.

This paper studies a simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT)-aware fog computing network, where a multiple antenna fog function integrated hybrid access point (F-HAP) transfers information and energy to multiple heterogeneous single-antenna sensors and also helps some of them fulfill computing tasks. By jointly optimizing energy and information beamforming designs at the F-HAP, the bandwidth allocation and the computation offloading distribution, an optimization problem is formulated to minimize the required energy under communication and computation requirements, as well as energy harvesting constraints. Two optimal designs, i.e., fixed offloading time (FOT) and optimized offloading time (OOT) designs, are proposed. As both designs get involved in solving non-convex problems, there are no known solutions to them. Therefore, for the FOT design, the semidefinite relaxation (SDR) is adopted to solve it. It is theoretically proved that the rank-one constraints are always satisfied, so the global optimal solution is guaranteed. For the OOT design, since its non-convexity is hard to deal with, a penalty dual decomposition (PDD)-based algorithm is proposed, which is able to achieve a suboptimal solution. The computational complexity for two designs are analyzed. Numerical results show that the partial offloading mode is superior to binary benchmark modes. It is also shown that if the system is with strong enough computing capability, the OOT design is suggested to achieve lower required energy;Otherwise, the FOT design is preferred to achieve a relatively low computation complexity. Optimal online transmission policy in wireless powered networks with urgency-aware age of information

This paper investigates the age of information (AoI) for a radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting (EH) enabled network, where a sensor first scavenges energy from a wireless power station and then transmits the collected status update to a sink node. To capture the thirst for the fresh update becoming more and more urgent as time elapsing, urgency-aware AoI (U-AoI) is defined, which increases exponentially with time between two received updates. Due to EH, some waiting time is required at the sensor before transmitting the status update. To find the optimal transmission policy, an optimization problem is formulated to minimize the long-term average U-AoI under constraint of energy causality. As the problem is non-convex and with no known solution, a two-layer algorithm is presented to solve it, where the outer loop is designed based on Dinklebach's method, and in the inner loop, a semi-closed-form expression of the optimal waiting time policy is derived based on Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) optimality conditions. Numerical results shows that our proposed optimal transmission policy outperforms the the zero time waiting policy and equal time waiting policy in terms of long-term average U-AoI, especially when the networks are non-congested. It is also observed that in order to achieve the lower U-AoI, the sensor should transmit the next update without waiting when the network is congested while should wait a moment before transmitting the next update when the network is non-congested. Additionally, it also shows that the system U-AoI first decreases and then keep unchanged with the increments of EH circuit's saturation level and the energy outage probability. Link prediction is an elemental challenge in network science, which has already found applications in guiding laboratorial experiments, digging out drug targets, recommending online friends, probing network evolution mechanisms, and so on. With a simple assumption that the likelihood of the existence of a link between two nodes can be unfolded by a linear summation of neighboring nodes' contributions, we obtain the analytical solution of the optimal likelihood matrix, which shows remarkably better performance in predicting missing links than the state-of-the-art algorithms for not only simple networks, but also weighted and directed networks. To our surprise, even some degenerated local similarity indices from the solution outperform well-known local indices, which largely refines our knowledge, for example, the number of 3-hop paths between two nodes more accurately predicts missing links than the number of 2-hop paths (i.e., the number of common neighbors), while in previous methods, longer paths are always considered to be less important than shorter paths. The strength of structural diversity in online social networks

Understanding the way individuals are interconnected in social networks is of prime significance to predict their collective outcomes. Leveraging a large-scale dataset from a knowledge-sharing website, this paper presents an exploratory investigation of the way to depict structural diversity in directed networks and how it can be utilized to predict one’s online social reputation. To capture the structural diversity of an individual, we first consider the number of weakly and strongly connected components in one’s contact neighborhood and further take the coexposure network of social neighbors into consideration. We show empirical evidence that the structural diversity of an individual is able to provide valuable insights to predict personal online social reputation, and the inclusion of coexposure network provides an additional ingredient to achieve that goal. After synthetically controlling several possible confounding factors through matching experiments, structural diversity still plays a nonnegligible role in the prediction of personal online social reputation. Our work constitutes one of the first attempts to empirically study structural diversity in directed networks and has practical implications for a range of domains, such as social influence and collective intelligence studies. Recent years conventional neural network(CNN) has been applied to different natural language processing(NLP) tasks such as sentence classification, sentence modeling, etc. Some researchers use CNN to do multi-label classification but their work mainly focus on image rather than text. In this paper, we propose an improved CNN via hierarchical dirichlet process(HDP) model to deal with the multi-label classification problem in NLP. We first apply an HDP model to discard some words which are less important semantically. Then we use word embedding methods to transform words to vectors. Finally, we train CNN based on word vectors. Experimental results demonstrate that our method is superior to most traditional multi-label classification methods and TextCNN in terms of performance.

Service-oriented network(SON) is a promising way to realize heterogeneous networking and Cloud computing system integration, because SON enables a network-as-aService(Naa S) paradigm and provides a general interface by which every service participant is able to communicate and cooperate, conveniently and transparently. However, Qo Saware service path construction is a crucial and inevitable problem in SON development. Many service composition algorithms have been proposed to solve the NP-hard problem, and various technologies are applied to meeting the function and performance requirements from users and SPs. In this paper, we formulate the construction problem at first and propose a service path construction algorithm based on improved Ant Colony Optimization. The experimental results show its effectiveness and efficiency in reducing the cost and keeping robust.

Blockchain is an innovative application model that integrates distributed data storage, peer-to-peer transmission, consensus mechanisms, digital encryption technology and other computer technologies. It is decentralized, secure, and Information disclosure. In the blockchain, digital encryption technology has a core position. The security of user information and transaction data is a necessary condition for the promotion of blockchain. The development of cryptography technology promotes and restricts the further development of blockchain. This paper outlines the infrastructure of blockchain, including the data layer, network layer, consensus layer, contract layer and application layer. The principles of encryption technology is introduced briefly, such as hash function, asymmetric cryptosystem, digital signature. The application of cryptography in all levels of blockchain is analyzed, including data layer, network layer, consensus layer, etc. It shows that cryptography runs through the whole blockchain system. The existing security problems of blockchain is analyzed, and the future research direction is expected.
