Quantum key distribution with the single-photon-added coherent source

In this paper, we present schemes on implementing the single-photon-added coherent source in quantum key distributions. We apply this source in either the standard BB84 protocol or the recently proposed measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution, comparing their performance with the cases of using other existing sources, e.g., the weak coherent source or the heralded single-photon source, and giving out corresponding numerical simulations. Our simulation results show that in both protocols the single-photon-added coherent source can greatly exceed all other existing sources. Moreover, even when taking statistical fluctuation into account, a high key generation rate can still be achieved at long distance by applying this source.

A collision detection algorithm based on capsule bounding volume (CBV for short) is presented improve the efficiency of Collision detection in three-dimensional scene. This algorithm use CBV to encircle roles and achieve collision detection between the virtual characters and static objects and dynamic objects in the scene. It includes collision detection between CBV and AABB, triangular and capsule. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that this algorithm can improve real time for collision detection. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

Wireless information and energy transfer (WIET) is a prominent technology to prolong the lifetime of battery-charging wireless networks. In this paper, we exploit the benefit of massive MIMO for WIET under external interference, and propose the antenna partition for information decoding and energy harvesting. Considering the effects of the external interference, i.e., interfering the information reception and benefiting the energy harvesting, we analyze the tradeoff between the data rate and the harvested energy, and obtain the achievable rate-energy (R-E) region. Then, we propose a low-complexity receive antenna partition algorithm for WIET in massive MIMO systems with the consideration of interference mitigation. The algorithm maximizes the data rate while guaranteeing a minimum harvested energy. It is found that the SNR of the low-complexity algorithm is at least an approximable half of the optimal SNR. Simulation results verify our theoretical claims and show the effectiveness of the proposed low-complexity antenna partition algorithm.

labeled data, in real world, is quite scarce compared with unlabeled data. Manual annotation is usually expensive and inefficient. Active learning paradigm is used to handle this problem by identifying the most informative instances to annotate. In this paper, we proposed a new active learning algorithm based on nonparallel support vector machine. Numeric experiment shows the effective performance of the proposed method compared with classical active learning based on support vector machine.

In order to solve the overload problem of root ONS in the EPC network, a load balancing algorithm based on multi-root ONS is proposed. Based on the proposed load balancing ONS (LB ONS) architecture, the ONS Root is defined to have two states, idle or busy. According to CPU utilization and memory utilization of the ONS Root and in combination with threshold controlling to periodically update the ONS Root states, which makes the requests coming from client applications be transferred to an ONS Root which is idle. Experiment results show that the algorithm can reduce query hops and query delays effectively and offer lookup service efficiently. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

Research on a denoising smoothing algorithm for 3D scattered point cloud

In order to effectively eliminate outliers and noise points in 3D scattered point cloud, a denoising smoothing algorithm which is the combination of removing outliers algorithm and trilateral filter is proposed. This is accomplished by rejecting outliers, correcting the normal direction and moving noise points along the modified normal direction within local adaptive neighborhoods. First, the outliers are removed by the method of mathematical statistics, on this basis, estimating normal direction and curvature of point cloud by covariance analysis method. Then, correct the normal direction by combining trilateral filter weighting factor with adaptive optimal neighborhood function. Finally, calculate position offset of data points in the direction of normal amendment by trilateral filter weighting factor in order to smooth the point cloud. Experimental results show that the proposed method is simple and effective, successfully removing noise from point cloud while preserving inherent geometric features. © 2014 ISSN 1881-803X.

The existing model simplification algorithm in simplified speed and quality can't reach a better compromise, so we present an improved quadric error metrics edge collapse mesh simplification algorithm. This algorithm makes the local region unevenness of vertex, the local region average area of vertex and edge length as constraint factors add to the edge collapse cost, by changing the order of the edge collapse to retain the important detail features of the original model. New vertex position is calculated on the different types of edge, keeping the boundary characteristics of the mesh model. Experimental results show that the improved algorithm not only runs faster, but also maintains a higher degree on the model feature region. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

With the rapid development of online learning, users have more and more diverse ways to learning. The advantage of online learning is that the e-learners' behaviors can be completely recorded in the log events. So learning analytics can be made on these data. More than 500 freshmen used Moodle to study our "C program" course each year. So a large number of learning data have been collected. How to make analysis of the data is very meaningful. In this paper, we focused on analyzing characteristics both the learning behaviors and the nonintellectual factor of e-learners, such as emotion. We aimed to find the main factors which influence learner's achievements. These factors might be submit time of programs, login times, the frequency of assignment view, etc. Based on the analysis, we adopted The Positive and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS) and Felder & Solomon Learning Styles and Strategies surveys to obtain e-learner's emotion and learning style in a certain period of time or currently. Then we made the correlation analysis between e-learner's emotion, learning style and their achievements. The experimental results made a verification that positive emotion has a great influence on the user. And also the learning enthusiasm of visual learners is obviously higher than that of verbal learners.

Addressing the energy hole problem based on heterogeneous clustering size for wireless sensor networks

Clustering is one of the effective ways to solve energy hole problem for Wireless Sensor network. So far, the approaches of heterogeneous cluster size mainly have concentrated on the design of unequal cluster protocol rather than the optimal cluster radius theoretically. Furthermore, the existing protocols of data gathering fall short in the extra energy dissipation of the rotating cluster head frequently. To overcome these limitations, in this paper, we first present the theoretical analysis to obtain the optimal number of cluster when the energy dissipation is balancing in the whole network. Then, the optimal cluster radius of different rings is obtained by theoretical analysis as well. In succession, a simple and effective strategy is proposed to further prolong the network lifetime on basis of the optimal cluster radius obtained theoretically. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate the performance advantages of our approach. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

Opportunistic forwarding assisted by mobile relays is an effective way of improving network capacity and packet delivery ratio in delay tolerant networks (DTNs). However, such performance gain comes at the price of increased energy consumption due to the duplicated transmissions at relays. In this paper, we investigate how energy harvesting, a promising technique of enabling sustainable communications, can be exploited to improve the performance of opportunistic forwarding in mobile DTNs. Specifically, we formulate the problem using a Markov Decision Process (MDP) framework in which each source should strike a balance between exploitation, by forwarding the packet to the relay currently in contact, and exploration, by waiting for possible better relays in the future, given the harvested energy constraint. The formulated MDP having exponential complexity, we devise a heuristic relay-assisted opportunistic forwarding scheme, termed as adaptive M-step lookahead scheme, to alleviate the computation complexity, where M can be adjusted adaptively according to both the current energy and the energy that might be harvested in the future. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm can use the harvested energy more efficiently, especially for the circumstance where the energy harvesting rate is low.
