This paper addresses the limitations of physical models in the current field of image dehazing by proposing an innovative dehazing network—CL2S. Building on the DM2F model, it identifies issues in its ablation experiments and replaces the original logarithmic function model with a trigonometric (sine) model. This substitution aims to better fit the complex and variable distribution of haze. The approach also integrates the atmospheric scattering model and other elementary functions to enhance dehazing performance. Experimental results demonstrate that CL2S achieves outstanding performance on multiple dehazing datasets, particularly in maintaining image details and color authenticity. Additionally, systematic ablation experiments supplementing DM2F validate the concerns raised about DM2F and confirm the necessity and effectiveness of the functional components in the proposed CL2S model. Event camera has significant advantages in capturing dynamic scene information while being prone to noise in-terference, particularly in challenging conditions like low threshold and low illumination. However, most existing research focuses on gentle situations, hindering event camera applications in realistic complex scenarios. To tackle this limitation and advance the field, we construct a new paired real-world event denoising dataset (LED), including 3K sequences with 18K seconds of high-resolution (1200*680) event streams and showing three notable distinctions compared to others: diverse noise levels and scenes, larger-scale with high-resolution, and high-quality GT. Specifically, it contains stepped parameters and varying illumination with diverse scenarios. Moreover, based on the property of noise events inconsistency and signal events consistency, we propose a novel effective denoising frame-work(DED) using homogeneous dual events to generate the GT with better separating noise from the raw. Further-more, we design a bio-inspired baseline leveraging Leaky-Integrate-and-Fire (LIF) neurons with dynamic thresholds to realize accurate denoising. The experimental results demonstrate that the remarkable performance of the proposed approach on different datasets. The dataset and code are at https://***/Yee-Sing/led.

Spatial-Temporal Semantic Feature Interaction network for Semantic Change Detection in Remote Sensing Images

Semantic Change Detection (SCD) in Remote Sensing Images (RSI) aims to identify changes in the type of Land Cover/Land Use (LCLU) corresponding to changed areas in RSI. The "from-to" information of the acquired image has more profound practical significance than Binary Change Detection (BCD). However, most deep learning-based SCD algorithms do not fully exploit the spatial-temporal information of multi-level features, leading to challenges in extracting LCLU features in complex changing scenes. To address these issues, we propose a Spatial-Temporal Semantic Feature Interaction network (STS-FINet) to improve the performance of SCD in RSI. The proposed STS-FINet comprises a Multi-Scale Feature Extraction Encoder (MS-FEE), a Transformer-based Multi-Level Feature Interaction module (TML-FI), and a Multi-Level Feature Fusion Decoder (ML-FFD). The MS-FEE extracts deep semantic and differential information from the RSI. The TML-FI is designed to mine the spatial-temporal information by extracting long-range dependencies and spatial information from multi-level features to improve spatial perception. Moreover, Mixed Spatial Reasoning Convolution block (MixSrc) is presented to enrich the spatial information by extracting the multi-scale features, thus improving the model's capability to interpret complex changing scenes. Finally, ML-FFD integrates the multi-level features, resulting in the generation of the semantic change map. The effectiveness of the proposed STS-FINet is verified on two high-resolution RSI datasets. Experimental results show that the proposed STS-FINet achieves better change detection performance than SOTA methods. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, we present the Screenshot Text Forgery Dataset (STFD), which is the first public dataset for the smartphone screenshot text forgery localization task. To address such a task, we propose a novel Screenshot Text Forgery Localization network (STFL-Net). Specifically, we introduce the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) stream as the complementary of the RGB stream, and propose a novel dual-stream Y-net architecture to collaboratively learn the representations focused on the traces on text regions of the image. Considering the text forgery is often subtle and local, we introduce a multi-teacher knowledge distillation learning strategy for training the STFL-Net, which makes the model less prone to over-fit one specific forgery trace. Comprehensive experimental results on STFD show that our method outperforms several previous methods designed for image forgery localization. We believe that, with our STFD dataset and STFL-Net, more advanced countermeasures against screenshot text forgeries can be developed in the future. © 2023 IEEE.

Unleashing the Potential of Tracklets for Unsupervised Video Person Re-Identification

With rich temporal-spatial information, video-based person re-identification methods have shown broad prospects. Although tracklets can be easily obtained with ready-made tracking models, annotating identities is still expensive and impractical. Therefore, some video-based methods propose using only a few identity annotations or camera labels to facilitate feature learning. They also simply average the frame features of each tracklet, overlooking unexpected variations and inherent identity consistency within tracklets. In this paper, we propose the Self-Supervised Refined Clustering (SSR-C) framework without relying on any annotation or auxiliary information to promote unsupervised video person re-identification. Specifically, we first propose the Noise-Filtered Tracklet Partition (NFTP) module to reduce the feature bias of tracklets caused by noisy tracking results, and sequentially partition the noise-filtered tracklets into "sub-tracklets". Then, we cluster and further merge sub-tracklets using the self-supervised signal from tracklet partition, which is enhanced through a progressive strategy to generate reliable pseudo labels, facilitating intra-class cross-tracklet aggregation. Moreover, we propose the Class Smoothing Classification (CSC) loss to efficiently promote model learning. Extensive experiments on the MARS and DukeMTMC-VideoReID datasets demonstrate that our proposed SSR-C for unsupervised video person re-identification achieves state-of-the-art results and is comparable to advanced supervised methods. In order to achieve more efficient and accurate DDoS detection while ensuring data privacy, this paper proposes a DDoS detection method based on FLAD. Firstly, this paper uses the FLAD algorithm to train a global DDoS detection model without leaving local traffic data, protecting the privacy and security of traffic data between different hosts, and improving aggregation efficiency by dynamically adjusting the aggregation weights to adapt to different sub-dataset increments. Secondly, a DDoS traffic detection method based on the integration of LSTM and CNN is proposed, which extracts and analyzes the temporal correlation of traffic data by calculating the statistical characteristics of traffic data within a time period, to achieve real-time detection of traffic feature data. Again, combined with the concept of SDN, real-time defense against DDoS based on ODL-API is implemented, and precise matching of DDoS detection results with network entity information is achieved, realizing the technology of real-time and precise issuance of multiple flow rules, effectively blocking DDoS malicious attack traffic, protecting important entities in the topology, and maintaining stable traffic in the topology. This paper focuses on solving the detection problem of DDoS traffic data increments and uneven data distribution through the FLAD algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the accuracy of DDoS attack detection by more than 4% and the F1 Score by more than 7% compared to the FedAvg aggregation algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we present a new synthetic aperture method for direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation using a passive towed sonar array that is deformed during platform maneuver. With certain prior knowledge of source-array geometry, we propose to find the optimal maximum likelihood estimates of DOAs and sensor positions by maximizing the model evidence of these parameters and the array observations. In order to tackle the resulting complex problem, the variational Bayesian Expectation-Maximization framework is employed. The proposed method is capable of achieving improved angular resolution by aperture synthesis and is robust to perturbations in the array manifold. Numerical simulations illustrate statistical efficiency of the proposed technique.

Road obstacle detection is an important problem for vehicle driving safety. In this paper, we aim to obtain robust road obstacle detection based on spatio-temporal context modeling. Firstly, a data-driven spatial context model of the driving scene is constructed with the layouts of the training data. Then, obstacles in the input image are detected via the state-of-the-art object detection algorithms, and the results are combined with the generated scene layout. In addition, to further improve the performance and robustness, temporal information in the image sequence is taken into consideration, and the optical flow is obtained in the vicinity of the detected objects to track the obstacles across neighboring frames. Qualitative and quantitative experiments were conducted on the Small Obstacle Detection (SOD) dataset and the Lost and Found dataset. The results indicate that our method with spatio-temporal context modeling is superior to existing methods for road obstacle detection. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Community detection is a trendy area in research on complex network analysis and has a wide range of real-world applications, like advertising. As people become increasingly concerned about privacy, protecting participants’ privacy in distributed community detection has become a new challenge. When applied to not identically and independently distributed (Non-IID) data, most federated graph algorithms suffer from the weight divergence problem caused by diversified training of local and global models, resulting in accuracy degradation. Furthermore, the privacy protection approaches based on anonymization, such as differential privacy (DP), and cryptography, such as homomorphic encryption (HE), incur accuracy loss and high time consumption, respectively. In this paper, we propose a globally consistent vertical federated graph autoencoder (GCVFGAE) algorithm, which builds a globally consistent model among the coordinator and all participants to solve the Non-IID graph data problem. As well, an attribute blinding strategy based on security aggregation is developed to protect the network privacy of each participant without losing accuracy. Both real-world and artificial networks’ experiments show that our algorithm reaches higher accuracy than the existing vertical federated graph neural networks (GNNs) and the simple distributed graph autoencoder without federated learning and detects communities identical to those found by the standard graph autoencoder (GAE). © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
