Multiple geographically adjacent DC microgrids can be interconnected to form a network system to improve the economics, inherent, and reliability of the power supply. To manage such a complex network, the hierarchical control paradigm can be adopted, where primary and secondary controllers deal with voltage and current regulation within a single DCMG whereas tertiary controller focuses on power exchange among the interconnected DCMGs in the cluster. Existing tertiary controllers are generally implemented with conventional PI, which is difficult to adapt because of the over-burdened task of modeling a complex network such as DCMG. To address this issue, this paper proposes a tertiary control strategy based on non-parametric model prediction for DCMGs. The performance of the proposed control strategy is verified by simulations and experimental results.

Multiple DC microgrids (DCMGs) are interconnected to form the DCMG cluster that can achieve various benefits of microgrid-based power solutions, e.g., low cost, high-demand response, high resilience, etc. The task to manage power flow that enables the benefits of DCMG clusters is assigned to the tertiary control in the hierarchical control paradigm. Meanwhile, the tertiary control is usually implemented with distributed communication which can enhance fault-tolerance, reliability, and expandability of DCMG clusters. So far, the existing distributed tertiary control is in general based on the conventional linear proportional-integral (PI) algorithms, and thus the performance of the linear controls for such complex nonlinear and higher-order networks of the DCMG clusters are limited. This paper introduces prediction function control (PFC) for the tertiary level of the hierarchical control of the DCMG clusters and implements the new algorithm with remained distributed control structure. In the proposed distributed predictive tertiary control (DPTC), the dynamic consensus protocol is deployed based on the sharing of information between neighboring agents. Under various test scenarios, the effectiveness of the DPTC strategy for the DCMG cluster that consists of three islanding DCMGs is verified through simulations and experimental results.

As the background value and the initial condition are important factors affecting the precision of grey system model, in this paper, we put forward an improved non-equidistant GM(1,1) model based on PSO according to the practical application need, in which the background value is optimized firstly and a new initial condition is presented based on the principle of new information priority. Under the algorithm of minimizing the square sum of the relative error between the original series and the forecasting sequences, the solution to the optimized time parameter is given, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used as a tool to optimize the parameter in the background value and the initial condition. The experimental result shows the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed non-equidistant GM(1,1) model.. © 2021 Association for Computing Machinery. All rights reserved.

Carbon dioxide emission has become a serious issue all over the world. Green vehicle routing problem (GVRP) is scheduling vehicles to optimize both economic and environmental costs during the distribution process. This work presents heterogeneous GVRP with customers service restrictions (HGVRP-CSR), in which each customer is only allowed to be served by the designated vehicles. It aims at scheduling vehicles to minimize the economic cost of fuel consumption and CO2 emission. A rigorous mathematical program is constructed. Then, an enhanced ant colony optimization algorithm is proposed to solve it. The maximum and minimum pheromones are utilized to overcome premature convergence and guarantee population diversity. Furthermore, a variable neighborhood search (VNS) approach is adopted to execute systematic neighborhood search in the local search stage of ACO. Finally, extensive experiments are conducted and the results show that the proposed algorithm is an effective and efficient heuristics to solve HGVRP-CSR.

A vehicle routing problem (VRP) is a well-known routing optimization problem. This work presents a capacitated VRP where transportation costs among the customers change over time, and constructs its non-linear integer program. It applies to vehicle distribution optimization problems under a dynamic traffic network. Then, a dynamic optimization strategy with an enhanced Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS) is proposed for addressing this problem. It contains two steps, i.e., initial scheduling and rescheduling. The former provides an initial solution for vehicles and the latter generates a new solution if the traffic information changes. Furthermore, to simulate the transportation costs in the dynamic traffic network, a dynamic simulator with adjustable frequency and amplitude is designed. Finally, experiments are conducted and the results show that the solution quality is improved by 2% ~ 6% over that static scheduling strategy.

Bearings play an important role as the connection between the motor and the gear. At present, the data collected by most motor bearing datasets are vibration signals in the one-dimensional time domain, and then one-dimensional convolution or other methods are used to analyze the signals. In this work, a fault diagnosis method based on continuous wavelet transform scalogram (CWTS) and multi-scale convolutional neural network (MS-CNN) is proposed in this paper. Continuous wavelet transform is used to analyze the time-frequency relationship of the signal to extract the frequency information of the one-dimensional signal, and two convolutional neural networks with different kernel sizes are applied to automatically extract different frequency signal characteristics from CWTS data. The experiment has achieved satisfactory results on the CWRU standard dataset.

We theoretically investigate single-photon polarization conversion via scattering by an atom with Λ configuration coupled to a semi-infinite waveguide and discuss the two cases in which the Λ system is non-degenerated and degenerated. By applying the hard-wall boundary condition of the semi-infinite waveguide, it is found that singlephoton polarization conversion can be realized with unit probability for both cases under the ideal *** with the polarization conversion, the frequency conversion of a single photon can also be realized with unit probability in the ideal case if the Λ system is not degenerated.

Traditional LLC resonant converter takes the rated power as the design requirement to calculate the resonant parameters. Although voltage gain in full load range is guaranteed, the problem of low efficiency under light load is ignored at the same time. This paper proposes a switching transformer-based LLC resonant converter (ST-LLC). Combined with the corresponding strategy of high-frequency transformer switching control, the efficiency of ST-LLC resonant converter is improved, especially in light load conditions. The design procedure of main component parameters is given in detail, and an optimal load partition control strategy is proposed to further broaden the optimized range of light load efficiency. Finally, a prototype about 1kW based on ST-LLC topology was built to verify the proposed scheme. It is shown that the efficiency of the prototype is achieved at 95% maximally, and maintains 90% in 82% of the full load range.

Distributed control strategies based on consensus algorithms for DC microgrids have gained intensive interest in recent years thanks to its advantages of high reliability, resilience, and expandability, over centralized control ones. Thus, global information can be accurately shared in a distributed way by sharing information between neighbor units. Meanwhile, hierarchical control paradigm consisting of three levels, i.e., primary, secondary, and tertiary, has become a standard solution for DC microgrids. Usually, the primary control is performed locally without communication, while secondary and tertiary controls desire distributed communication to obtain average voltage or current among units. Thus, the sparse communications are crucial to distributed control of DC microgrids. In this work, three main communication conditions, i.e., link failure, communication delay, and noise are included in analyzing effects of these conditions on distributed control of DC microgrids. Simulation model is built to verify the analysis in MATlab/Simulink environment.

The hierarchical control framework including primary, secondary, and tertiary levels has become a standard solution for control of microgrids (MGs), where the tertiary is responsible for power flow management among clusters of microgrids. This paper presents a predictive function controller (PFC) design in tertiary level for DC microgrid (DCMG) clusters. The loading mismatch among neighbor microgrids is used in an updating policy to adjust voltage set points of the DC microgrids to facilitate the power flow and thus mitigate such mismatch. The design procedure of the PFC controller is detailed, and the simulation model with two interconnected DC microgrids is built in MATlab/Simulink environment to verify the controller performance.
