!The operation and trade of the electricity distribution market must develop based on a clear distribution pricing mechanism. Current nodal price generally does not include distribution network costs, which is not conducive to the establishment of distribution market and the efficient use of distribution network. Therefore, based on the Ramsay criterion and further considering the influence of reactive power, a method of allocating the distribution network cost to the nodal price is proposed in this paper. The main innovation in this paper is that a calculation method of price elasticity of reactive power demand is established. Consequently, the cost of the distribution network is allocated to the nodes according to not only active power distributed but also reactive power distributed. A 12-node system modified from the IEEE 33-node distribution network is used to do simulation. Results validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the method. Moreover, comparative analysis with MW-Mile method shows that the method can provide better economic information for network users. © 2018 IEEE.

In this paper, Hilbert-Huang transform(HHT) is introduced into the application of fault cause identification for transmission lines. This method is composed of empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert transform. It can analyze the characteristics of signal frequency quantitatively and accurately[1]. By analyzing the information of four common faults from fault recorder, the Hilbert marginal spectrum and the Hilbert time-frequency spectrum can be considered as the feature of different fault causes which can be classified by a probability neural network (PNN). The results show that the method can effectively identify the cause of the fault and has a high accuracy.

The maintenance and self-healing of circuit breakers are very difficult when the fault diagnosis results of circuit breakers cannot cover all kinds of fault *** paper proposes a method for comprehensively diagnosing circuit breaker *** method simulates the action process of circuit breakers based on weighted fuzzy Petri nets and makes it feasible to infer circuit breaker fault causes from different *** model shows the action sequence of the circuit breaker by associating the control mechanism,the operating mechanism,the transmission mechanism and the contact part of the circuit breaker,and each part of it is described with the corresponding abnormal signals of the circuit breaker stored in the substation *** fault reasons of the circuit breaker can be inferred by considering the action sequence and the relationship between the abnormal information and fault *** results for some test cases show that this method can obtain the diagnosis results covering various possible fault causes.

Distributed energy resource (DER) including wind power, solar energy and energy storage system (ESS) are connected to the active distribution network (ADN) in various combination ways, which makes the distribution network have interaction. As a bridge connecting the transmission grid (TG) and micro grid (MG), ADN breaks the traditional operation pattern of TG+ADN+MG. Considering the physical connections and shared information among TG, ADN and MG, this paper proposes a decentralized and parallel analytical target cascading (ATC) algorithm for TG+ADN+MG multi-level co-optimization dispatch considering primary and secondary frequency regulation. To explore the synergistic ability of the TG+ADN+MG coping with uncertainties of DER, i.e., wind power, the primary and secondary frequency regulation of TG are implemented to cope with uncertainties. Furthermore, the distributional uncertainties of wind power and load are well modeled by data driven, which is proposed in our previous work [1]. An improved 6-bus system is used to test the proposed model, the numerical results illustrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method.

Short-term probabilistic wind power forecasting can provide critical quantified uncertainty information of wind generation for power system operation and control. It would be difficult to develop a universal forecasting model dominating over other alternative models because of the inherent stochastic nature of wind power. Therefore, a novel multi-model combination (MMC) approach for probabilistic wind power forecasting is proposed in this paper to exploit the advantages of different forecasting models. The proposed approach can combine different forecasting models those provide different kinds of probability density functions to improve the performance of probabilistic forecasting. Three probabilistic forecasting models based on the sparse Bayesian learning, kernel density estimation, and beta distribution fitting are used to form the combined model. The parameters of the MMC model are solved by two-step optimization. Comprehensive numerical studies illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed MMC approach.

Regional wind power forecasting is of great significance to ensure the wind power absorption and power grid safety economy. This paper proposes a regional wind power statistical upscaling forecasting method based on the combination model to improve the forecasting accuracy of the region wind power. The K-means clustering algorithm is used to divide the region, the forecasting accuracy of the wind farms, and the correlation coefficient between wind farms and sub-regions are used to select the reference wind farms in each sub-region. The BP neural network quantile regression model is used to forecast the wind power of the reference wind farm. Based on the prediction results of reference wind farms, the combined model formed by the beta distribution estimation, kernel density estimation, and sparse Bayesian learning is used to forecast the wind power of the sub-region. The region power forecasting results can be obtained by adding the forecasting results of the sub-regions. Case studies verify the effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper.

Integrated energy system is composed of different multiple energy systems. When the combined heat and power (CHP) unit fails, more than one energy systems can be influenced. Therefore, it is very important to improve the reliability of CHP unit. In this paper, we propose a maintenance decision making model for CHP unit based on opportunistic maintenance strategy. Firstly, the expression of the availability of CHP unit considering opportunistic maintenance is derived. And then, in order to quantify the impact of different maintenance strategies on system operation, system operation risk is given taking electrical load loss and thermal load loss into account. Finally, maintenance decision making model of the CHP unit is established with maintenance constraints. Case studies show that the model can optimize maintenance strategies and improve the reliability of CHP unit and the overall system efficiency.

The falling of bird droppings near the insulator of overhead transmission lines will cause distortion of the electric field distribution near the insulator, resulting in air gap breakdown and flashover. Studying the area where there may be a risk of breakdown near the insulators in such a situation is of great significance for bird damage prevention of overhead transmission lines. Based on the finite element method, this paper established the 110kV transmission line model using ANSYS Maxwell finite element software and calculated the variation of the electric field distribution around the insulator when the bird droppings fall. Using the air gap average breakdown electric field strength as the criterion to judge whether breakdown occurs or not, the risk area of the air gap breakdown is determined, thereby determining the protection range of the transmission line for the flashover caused by the falling of bird droppings.

Coordinated control strategy for the short-term frequency response of a DFIG-ES system based on wind speed zone classification and fuzzy logic control

In a power system with a high penetration rate of wind power generation, the rotor speed of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is decoupled from the system frequency;thus, DFIG has no short-term frequency response capability, and the system frequency stability is significantly affected compared to that in a power grid with more conventional synchronous generators. For this reason, a novel fuzzy theory-based coordinated control strategy is presented for improving the short-term frequency response capability of a DFIG-energy storage (ES) system. Firstly, to make the short-term frequency response capability of the DFIG-ES system adaptive for various wind speed conditions, based on the analysis of the DFIG operation characteristics under different wind speeds, four wind speed zones are classified, and accordingly different operation strategies are designed for each wind speed zone. Afterwards, two kinds of fuzzy logic controllers (FLCs) are designed and deployed in the DFIG-ES control system. Specifically, according to the fuzzy logic rules, frequency deviation and DFIG operation state are treated as input parameters, and correspondingly the power support from the combined system and the participation coefficient of the DFIG for short-term frequency support are determined. Moreover, the realization of the presented control strategy is detailedly described. Finally, case studies have been conducted to demonstrate the performance of the proposed control strategy via the comparison between different control strategies, and the simulation results illustrate that the coordinated control strategy can effectively improve the short-term frequency response capability of the DFIG-ES system under various wind speeds.

Distributed multi-scenario optimal sizing of integrated electricity and gas system based on ADMM

The evolution and application of energy conversion equipment such as gas turbines and power to gas (P2G) has greatly improved the coupling characteristics of integrated electricity and gas system (IEGS). Therefore, it is necessary to take natural gas system into consideration when coping with the optimal sizing problems for electricity system. However, it is difficult to solve the problem based on a single typical scenario during the long-term planning period. This paper proposes a distributed multi-scenario optimization framework based on alternating direction multiplier method (ADMM), decoupling the original optimal sizing problem into an investment sub-problem and multiple operation sub-problems considering multiple scenarios. In addition, this paper establishes a bidirectional coupling IEGS model which includes the dynamic characteristic of the gas system and uncertainties of renewable energy and load. In order to evaluate the feasibility, the proposed framework and model are applied to a modified IEEE 33 nodes system combined with 7 nodes gas system. Case studies are presented to further study the impact of operation flexibility, lifetime loss and cost reduction potential of battery energy storage system (BESS). The results indicate that the proposed framework can effectively deal with the multi-scenario optimal sizing problem of IEGS. Moreover, this method also have a good performance in analyzing the influence of flexibility, battery lifetime and multi-stage investment strategy.
