Since the consumption of air conditioning devices takes a significant proportion in the electricity demand, implementation of appropriate control strategies will conserve a considerable amount of energy. A proper space thermal model is required for any control strategy, which is built on the accurate identification of unknown parameters. A first-order lumped parameter model is employed to depict space thermal dynamics. The model is discretized using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. We use a particle filter algorithm to identify the model parameters, thermal capacitance and conductance. The recursive algorithm follows the steps including initialization, prediction, update, weight normalization, and resampling. An experiment is conducted to collect indoor and outdoor temperature measurements of a test room. The error is very small between the measured data and prediction results derived by the identified parameters, which verify the effectiveness the identification method proposed in this paper.

In this paper, a decentralized load control scheme for power system frequency regulation is proposed. This scheme is on the use of thermal energy storage capacity in thermostatically controlled loads (TCLs) considering consumers' thermal comfort. A fuzzy algorithm is applied to the evaluation of consumers' comfort level, in which temperature and relative humidity of the conditioned space are involved. The fuzzy rule is embedded into the frequency control loop of TCLs. The mismatch between generation and load is represented by the system frequency deviation that is measured locally. For the aggregation of decentralized loads response, Monte-Carlo sampling is conducted to address the randomness of model parameters. Case studies show that the proposed scheme can mitigate frequency deviation caused by generation-load imbalance. The frequency can be also restored to a reasonable level within a short time without compromising consumers' comfort.

Electric power industry should play a bigger role in energy conservation and emission reduction, while the ecosystem degradation rises because of the shortage of energy, the greenhouse effect and the environmental pollution. power generation dispatch is the key practice in electric power industry. In this paper, the value based dispatch theory is proposed, which assign the value of the natural resources according to the social development as well as environmental and economic reasons. Operation Strategy of EV Battery Charging and Swapping Station

An operation strategy of the electric vehicle （EV） battery charging and swapping station is proposed in the paper. The strategy is established based on comprehensively consideration of the EV charging behaviors and the possible mutual actions between battery charging and swapping. Three energy management strategies can be used in the station： charging period shifting, energy exchange between EVs, and energy supporting from surplus swapping batteries. Then an optimization model which minimizes the total energy management costs of the station is built. The Monte Carlo simulation is applied to analyze the characteristics of the EV battery charging load, and a heuristic algorithm is used to solve the strategy providing the relevant information of EVs and the battery charging and swapping station. The operation strategy can efficiently reduce battery charging during the high electricity price periods and make more reasonable use of the resources. Simulations prove the feasibility and rationality of the strategy.

Variable-speed constant-frequency (VSCF) wind farms are gradually becoming a significant proportion of generation in weak grids with constantly increasing penetration rate, and it should certainly take responsibility of the grid frequency and voltage stability. Based on the P-Q performance curve of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), by introducing static synchronous compensator (STATCOM), this paper presents a coordinated control strategy of active power and reactive power to deal with fault and load disturbance in weak grids. Simulation results show that the proposed coordinated control strategy can effectively improve the frequency and voltage stability of the grids. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The main fault diagnosis algorithms of traditional substation are based on the protections and breakers. And they have not concerned the influence of abnormal communication network to the stable operation of the intelligent substation. Based on the questions mentioned above, this paper introduces the fault information of the intelligent substation first of all, which contains the static configuration information and the online monitoring information, and then builds the basic model of the whole intelligent substation, and analyses the inference mechanism of the fault diagnosis of the secondary system, and at last tests the correctness of this model through a case.

Using frequency data of the Northwest power Grid from Feb. 15th to 28th, 2013 that is measured by PMU-light units in Shandong University, the steady state characteristics of frequency are analyzed in this paper. Duration and number of low-frequency and high-frequency events are listed. Statistics of daily highest, lowest and average frequency values are given. Ensemble averaged frequency values are calculated. Characteristics of steady-state frequency in the Northwest power Grid are summarized and influence factors of frequency are discussed. The influence of the proportion of wind power on the frequency quality is simulated. The necessity of the application of a new frequency control method called DFR (Demand as Frequency controlled Reserve) in the Northwest power Grid is discussed.

This paper proposes a novel approach to compensate the voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC) and the grid line current harmonics through a distributed generation (DG) interfacing converter in a weak microgrid. In the proposed approach, the PCC voltage is indirectly derived from the measured converter output voltage, DG line current and line impedance. A voltage closed-loop controller and a current closed-loop controller are designed to achieve both functions of DG real power generation and PCC harmonics compensation. Therefore, the traditional harmonic measurement devices installed at the PCC as well as the long distance communication between the PCC and the converter are fully eliminated. In order to avoid overcompensation, a harmonic current limitation algorithm is implemented in the control loop. bBy properly dispatching the harmonic compensation capability, multiple DG unites can be connected to the same PCC in parallel with the same compensation function. Furthermore, the proposed control approach can be extended to a multi-bus microgrid, where the line impedance cannot be ignored. Matlab simulations and experimental results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper proposes an improved power sharing control scheme to achieve the accurate power sharing control and offer an improved PCC voltage regulation capability in islanding microgrid. An enhanced virtual impedance design is assumed in the conventional droop control scheme to manage distributed generation (DG) units to export the accurate reactive power in proportion to their rating. A point of common coupling (PCC) voltage restoration control is implemented to eliminate the PCC voltage deviation produced by the droop control effect and voltage drop effect on the impedance. This control scheme of each individual DG unit was designed to only use the locally measured feedback variables of inverter. It can realize accurate reactive power sharing and guarantee the PCC voltage quality. Matlab simulations are presented to show the effectiveness of proposed control performance in islanding microgrid.
