The excess renewable energy consumption trading is one of the supplementary trading ways to promote the fulfillment of the responsibility of renewable energy consumption in China. To aim at the problem of how the market participants to understand and accept the excess consumption trade, a transaction decision-making method based on evolutionary game theory is proposed in the paper. Next, the paper analyses the influence of different factors such as the incentive and punishment measures for renewable energy consumption, the green certificate price and the transaction price of excess consumption on the willingness and enthusiasm of electricity retailers to participate in excess consumption trading. Analysis and simulation results show that the appropriate deregulation of regulatory incentives, higher green certificates price and reasonable excess consumption trading price can promote the cooperation between the retailers, which is conducive to the realization of excess consumption trading.

In this paper, a PMU-based real-time Distribution system State Estimation (DSSE) platform is developed. The platform applies Forecasting-Aided State Estimator (FASE) to utilize the benefits of the process model. Two of the pre-estimation methods, namely the conventional-, and the improvedinnovation analysis, are implemented and compared to each other in the applied Anomaly Detection, Discrimination and Identification (ADDI) module. The module is used to classify the anomalies into either bad data due to erroneous measurements, or sudden variation of the system state due to sudden load or renewable generation change. Once an anomaly is classified, the ADDI attempts to identify either the PMU corrupted with bad data or most likely the location that drives sudden change of the state. The platform is tested using an actual 50 kV ring network of Enduris medium voltage grid located in the Netherlands, which is simulated using a Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS). Finally, the necessity of using the ADDI module against possible disturbances in real-life networks has been pointed out. The results showed that the average execution time for FASE coupled with ADDI can be adequately fast for the rapid refresh rate of PMUs under normal and abnormal conditions, particularly the bad data. © 2022, The Authors. Aiming at the problem that the flexible access of distributed photovoltaics to the distribution network affects its reliability, this paper establishes a model of the distributed photovoltaic output probability based on the typical output characteristics of distributed photovoltaics firstly. Subsequently, the power grid risk assessment indicators are determined to facilitate the quantification of distribution network risks, including voltage over-limit, power over-limit, and load loss risk indicators. Finally, a distribution network model containing distributed photovoltaic grid-connected is established on the MATlab simulation platform, and the risk assessment of the distribution network containing distributed photovoltaic grid-connected is carried out.

Flat objects with negligible thicknesses like books and disks are challenging to be grasped by the robot because of the width limit of the robot's gripper, especially when they are in cluttered environments. Pre-grasp manipulation is conducive to rearranging objects on the table and moving the flat objects to the table edge, making them graspable. In this paper, we formulate this task as Parameterized Action Markov Decision Process, and a novel method based on deep reinforcement learning is proposed to address this problem by introducing sliding primitives as actions. A weight-sharing policy network is utilized to predict the sliding primitive's parameters for each object, and a Q-network is adopted to select the acted object among all the candidates on the table. Meanwhile, via integrating a curriculum learning scheme, our method can be scaled to cluttered environments with more objects. In both simulation and real-world experiments, our method surpasses the existing methods and achieves pre-grasp manipulation with higher task success rates and fewer action steps. Without fine-tuning, it can be generalized to novel shapes and household objects with more than 85% success rates in the real world. An energy storage system (ESS) sizing method is proposed to enable wind farm (WF) to be a black-start (BS) source. This method handles three challenges: firstly, ESS has enough power to help WF start up. Secondly, the WF together with ESS is modelled as a virtual synchronous generator (VSG), and its frequency regulation capability is considered when sizing ESS. Thirdly, the power and capacity of ESS are determined so that VSG can deliver the required power during black-start. Instead of using wind speed probability distribution, kernel density estimation is used in this paper to directly estimate the probability distribution characteristics of ESS sizing. Simulation results show that with minimum investment cost on ESS, WF is able to be BS source. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and Technology. All rights reserved.

Improving frequency regulation of wind-integrated multi-area systems using LFA-fuzzy PID control

Due to the complexity and importance of the electricity grid stability, sophisticated control systems and computational approaches are essentially required to solve dynamical system frequency problems in multi-area systems. Participation of wind turbines in power system frequency control in the form of stepwise inertial control in the presence of a proposed adequately tuned fuzzy-PID load-frequency control is investigated in this paper. A two-area power system is studied in which it is linked through tie-line and equipped with fuzzy-PID control systems. To increase the energy transition and flexibility of the entire system against frequency events and parameters uncertainties, the fuzzy-PID controllers are first tuned using lightning flash algorithm (LFA). The tuned controllers are then used in each area to optimally counterbalance the frequency deviations and the tie-line power of the interconnected areas against varying load disturbances, wind power fluctuations, and to keep the renewable integrated system in a stable state. The sensitivity analysis is also conducted with a wide range of system parameter variations, uncertainties, and disturbances. Furthermore, the LFA-tuned fuzzy-PID load-frequency control is also tested in a two-area isolated microgrid, comprising wind turbine, PV panels, fuel cells, micro-turbine, and diesel engine generator. The results obtained using the proposed approach are compared with other state-of-the-arts algorithms and control systems in the literature. The compared results show the efficiency and robustness of the proposed optimization-based controller for better frequency control in multi-area power systems and isolated microgrids. The results also demonstrate that a finely tuned automatic generation controller gives a significant boost to grid frequency control when wind turbines participate in the inertial control, suggesting migration from conventional PID-based automatic generation control to more adaptive control approaches.

The serious overvoltage phenomenon of restrike caused by capacitor exit will damage the insulation of the circuit breaker and the capacitor, and then affect the safe operation of the power grid. However, the establishment of the characteristics of restrike is still relatively preliminary, and it is difficult to effectively characterize the occurrence of restrike. In this paper, the waveform characteristics of transient voltage and current collected from the system and capacitor neutral point under different operation modes are analyzed, and the transient waveform characteristics of single-phase and inter-phase restrike caused by capacitor exit are established, which provides theoretical basis for the detection and identification of restrike phenomenon. Both theoretical analysis and simulation verify the accuracy of the typical features established in this paper.

Quantifying Topological Flexibility of Active Distribution Networks Based on Community Detection

Active distribution networks (ADNs) provide a flexible platform to integrate various distributed generation sources, among which the intermittent renewable sources impose high operating uncertainty. Topological flexibility of ADNs should be exploited to counter the stochastic operating conditions by modifying the topologies of ADNs. Quantifying the topological flexibility is a vital step to utilize it, which is lacking in previous studies. A quantification method is proposed to measure the topological flexibility of ADNs in this paper. First, the community structures of ADNs are detected to achieve spatial partitions of the networks. Second, an improved spectral clustering algorithm is employed to significantly reduce the dimensionality of the partition space, in which the ADNs are further partitioned using the affinity propagation algorithm. Finally, a topological flexibility metric is defined based on the guiding role of sectionalizing and tie switches within and between communities. The proposed topological flexibility quantification method is a superb approach to the utilization of flexibility resources in distribution networks. Case study results of test ADNs demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed quantification method.

Distributed energy resource (DER) including wind power, solar energy and energy storage system (ESS) are connected to the active distribution network (ADN) in various combination ways, which makes the distribution network have interaction. As a bridge connecting the transmission grid (TG) and micro grid (MG), ADN breaks the traditional operation pattern of TG+ADN+MG. Considering the physical connections and shared information among TG, ADN and MG, this paper proposes a decentralized and parallel analytical target cascading (ATC) algorithm for TG+ADN+MG multi-level co-optimization dispatch considering primary and secondary frequency regulation. To explore the synergistic ability of the TG+ADN+MG coping with uncertainties of DER, i.e., wind power, the primary and secondary frequency regulation of TG are implemented to cope with uncertainties. Furthermore, the distributional uncertainties of wind power and load are well modeled by data driven, which is proposed in our previous work [1]. An improved 6-bus system is used to test the proposed model, the numerical results illustrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method. © 2020 IEEE.

Hierarchical model predictive control of wind farm with energy storage system for frequency regulation during black-start

In high wind power penetration power system, using wind farm equipped with energy storage system (WF-ESS) as black-start (BS) source needs to maintain system frequency stability when starting up ancillary machine or picking up load. A hierarchical model predictive control (HMPC) method of WF-ESS for frequency regulation during BS is proposed in this paper, which consists of two control modes: frequency regulation mode and reserve recovery mode. For the first control mode, a PI controller is used to generate reference power for WF-ESS and to recover system frequency to 50 Hz. The proposed HMPC is divided into WF level and wind turbine (WT) level to accurately track the reference power and guarantee secure operation of each WT. Considering WTs' different operation conditions, WF level MPC distributes reference power to WTs according to the proportion of single WT reserve to total WF reserve. The ESS power is utilized as supplementary when WF output power is insufficient. The rotor speed and pitch angle constraints are included in the WT level MPC while providing frequency response. After frequency deviation is eliminated, WF and ESS are coordinated by the second control mode to avoid a second frequency drop meanwhile reserve a certain proportion of WF available power for managing potential frequency disturbances in the future. A case study is conducted to show the effectiveness of the proposed control method under both low and high wind conditions.
