A new data-mining method for assessment of the ability of bidding units is proposed in this paper. The algorithm of reducing attribute value is introduced to get minimum rules. An example which considers the various factors is illustrated the procedure of finding association among many factors and then obtained the rules to assess bidding units ability. The rules are very useful in supporting the generating bidding unit to make decisions and helping the electric agency (power exchange-PX) and (independent system operator-ISO) to design an optimal trade plans

Detecting single-phase-to-ground fault is a difficult and challenging problem in the non-solidly grounded system that includes neutral point ungrounded, neutral point high-resistance grounded and neutral point compensated extinction coil grounded system. It is important to identify the faulted line quickly and exactly to reduce the time and effort necessary to locate and remove the fault, so that the probability of a second ground fault with its destructive currents can be reduced significantly. Based on analyzing the characteristics of the existing methods about identifying the faulted line in the non-solidly grounded system, the characteristics of the lines' zero-sequence current and the system's zero-sequence voltage and the relationship between every line's zero-sequence current and the system's zero-sequence voltage are analyzed deeply and a new method using similitude power to determine the faulted line is presented. The method can be applied to neutral point ungrounded system and neutral point ineffective grounded system to determine the faulted line accurately when resistance ground faults occur. Various ground faults under different conditions are simulated using MATlab. The results show the method is feasible and effective

Along with the increment of disturbing loads in the power system, the effect on network that is brought by the power quality problems, become increasingly serious. Based on the market bargaining principles, the power price should be affected by the disturbance of loads. However current power price system fails to reflect the factor. Evaluation of load's disturbing property and analysis of its influence to power price is performed in this paper. The load current can be decomposed into three parts: instantaneous active current, instantaneous fundamental reactive current and instantaneous distorted current by the generalized instantaneous reactive power theory in dq0 coordinate system. The reactive current emission factor reflecting pure resistance of load and distorted current emission factor reflecting load's linearity are defined. According to these two factors, the evaluation method of the effect of the disturbing load on the power price based on allocating compensation equipment's cost is presented. The method provides some basis for contract's subscribing in the future. The calculated example shows the feasibility of above method, as well the degree of the influence of the disturbing load upon the power price

In this paper, a simple parallel calculation cluster is built by PC and local area network. The power electric network is divided into several subnets according the method of path graph partitioning. Subnets are allocated to PC unit to calculate individual and the server is in charge of adjusting process and counting the current of link line. Besides soft-hard ware environment of PC cluster is given in this paper and the design and implementation of program are also presented. The key technique and way to settle problem are discussed during implementation procedure. At last, the IEEE39 nodal points system is tested. The satisfaction result is gotten by comparing to single computer

Based on the characteristics of TCSC, the influence of TCSC on fault component distance protection is analyzed. With the new setting resistance to be Z Zd -jX C , the action of fault component distance protection on the line equipped with TCSC is presented. It is concluded that the fault component distance protection will not act incorrectly, but the range of protection will be reduced, especially when the TCSC is bypassed

The flywheel energy storage (FES) system presented in this paper is composed of four parts: the flywheel, the bearing, the motor/generator and the power converter. The control methods and strategy of the FES system in power network are introduced in detail. During the storage period and generating times, the waveform of the power converter output currents is controlled to be sinusoidal by using sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) control method, so the efficiency of the energy conversion is high and the torque ripple of the motor/generator is minimized. The control methods of starting and operating large moment of inertia of the flywheel are simulated and studied for the power converter. The latest experimental results of the FES system are introduced, and the control validity is verified through these results.

This paper puts forward a novel topology of controllable reactor, the structure is based on many small capacity thyristor controlled reactor (TCR) modules and a three-windings transformer connecting to system. The transformer secondary adopts duplex winding structure and each has multi-bank TCR modules being in delta connection. In this topology, the harmonic current injected into the power system is very small. It not only possesses all the functions a traditional TCR has, but also has many other merits such as occupying small floor space, generating little loss, easy implement control and protection scheme, and high reliability etc. A 500 kVar industrial prototype is under construction in Langfang, Hebei province of ***. This paper presents a multi-agent and WAN based adaptive coordinated protection system (MAWBACPS). The system utilizes IP intranet to realize real-time wide area information exchange of a power system. Multi-agent system's several good qualities to solve distributing problems are used to realize the coordination of the operation settings of protective relays. A new idea of effortful adaptation for power system protection is proposed, and a new method to determine adaptive coordinated relay settings of lines are proposed in this paper. Moreover, the structure, communication mechanism and coordination control strategy of MAWBACPS, and relating agents' design are presented. Experiment results illustrate that MAWBACPS can realize the coordination of protections, enable the back-up relays to use their adaptive settings in most situations, and efficiently improve the security of power system

A new load detection method was presented based on its running status of power system. The loads are sorted according to their index of capacitive, inductive, and none-linear. The static character of each load was got according to the time-distribution. The concept of load detection is completed. The data-sample and wave recording equipment is designed and assembled based on the DSP for power loads status detecting. The superior software was designed for data management and analyzing. The recognizing status data was analyzed in both time-domain and frequency-domain; the identifying method for electric power loads status is deduced based on the correlation coefficient; the mathematical model for the status identifying is built; the trueness and validity of the methods is verified based on the testing and analyzing

power quality becomes an emphasis of related researches. Based on the detailed study on QCC (quality control center) of the FRIENDS first advanced by Japanese scholars, the functions of QCC are expanded and its basic types and structures are defined. Meanwhile, by detailed study, this paper introduces the multiple adjusting functions of UPQC (unified power quality conditioner) which is the chief part of QCC and presents its typical topological circuit. Moreover, H infin control technology is used to realize the synthesis tracking compensation of voltage and current for UPQC. Finally its validity has been testified successfully
