As a new way of building production, construction industry industrialization (CII) involves a variety of project risk. The stakeholders are one of the main factors for the successful implementation of CII. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the risk of the stakeholders. This study systematically reviews the definitions, characteristic, stakeholders, and the risk analysis of CII. Based on the risks involved in the traditional construction projects, this paper summarizes the core issues of the risk study of the stakeholders in CII. This study attempts to systematically study the risk of CII from the perspective of the stakeholders, and thus forms a complete system and theoretical framework for the analysis risk of the stakeholders in CII. It is hoped that it will be helpful to provide some guidance for deepening the participants' understanding and avoid their related risk as well as providing some help for the understanding of the interaction between follow-up risk factors. © 2018 American Society of Civil Engineers.

Failure modes determination and load-bearing capacity evaluation of concrete columns under seismic loads by ANNs

The failure modes of concrete columns can be applied to judge the ductility of concrete columns under seismic loads. In addition, the load-bearing capacity of concrete columns was an important parameter in evaluating the seismic performance of concrete columns under seismic loads. However, it was difficult to determine the failure modes and evaluate the load-bearing capacity of concrete columns under seismic loads with the application of high-strength concrete. In this paper, two ANNs, including a genetic algorithm optimization-based support vector machine (GA-SVM) and an ANFIS, were developed to determine the failure modes of concrete columns under seismic loads. The main investigated parameters, including specimens' shear span ratio, the compressive strength of concrete, the yield strength and volumetric ratio of stirrups, and the yield strength and ratio of longitudinal reinforcement, were applied as input variables to the models. The proposed models were trained and tested using 247 data sets from previous studies. The proposed models had high reliability and predictability to determine the failure modes of concrete columns under seismic loads. Furthermore, an ANFIS network was developed to evaluate the load-bearing capacity of concrete columns, which had high reliability and predictability. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

For long-term monitoring of the deflection of Songjiazhuang cloverleaf junction on 309 national roads in Zibo, this paper proposed a CCD-based bridge deflection monitoring method. Based on DIC principle, the bridge deflection is measured by tracking of targets’ position change in the FOV of CCD. The deflection monitoring software is compiled by MATlab, and the deflection monitoring system for Songjiazhuang cloverleaf junction is integrated in this paper. This deflection monitoring system has functions such as 4-channel CCD cameras image preview, simultaneous acquisition, camera calibration, deflection display and data storage. Deflection curves obtained in the field show a consistent trend, this testifies that the proposed method is reliable and can meet the long-term monitoring requirements of bridge deflection. © 2017 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

As is known to all, the construction project is an extremely complex process. Relying on the syndromes, such as many parties, a large amount of investment, long project cycle, and so on, the project management process has many difficulties. Therefore, information management has always been an important part of engineering project management. Based on the overall objectives and requirements of the project information management, this paper constructs a framework of engineering project information management model based on BIM technology. The model framework consists of three levels, user layer, application layer, and data layer. Each participant enters the management model through the user layer, then selects different applications, and accepts the model data provided by the data layer, so that they can achieve the corresponding target management finally. © 2018 American Society of Civil Engineers.

Experimental study on seismic behavior of interior steel fiber reinforced RPC beam-column joints

In order to investigate the seismic behavior and shear bearing capacity of steel fiber reinforced reactive powder concrete (RPC) beam-column joints, quasi-static tests on eight RPC interior beam-column joints were carried out. The variables considered in test program included strength of reinforcement, stirrup ratio in joint core, and web rebars and vertical rebars across the joint core, and their influences on the failure mode, shear bearing capacity, hysteretic loops, energy dissipation, strength degeneration and rigidity degeneration behavior of the RPC joints were analyzed. The tests results indicate that the HRB600 longitudinal rebars in the beam mitigate the rigidity degeneration and improve the energy dissipating capacity of the specimen. An increase in stirrup ratio improves the strength degeneration and energy dissipating capacity of the specimen during the failure stages. As the transverse reinforcement ratio in joint core increases from 0 to 0.98%, the shear bearing capacity and ductility of the RPC joint increase. Web rebars and vertical rebars across the joint core improve the shear bearing capacity, strength degeneration and energy dissipation capacity of the specimen. Using the formula of GB 50011-2010 to calculate the shear bearing capacity leads to conservative results for RPC joints with a low stirrup ratio, but tends to be unsafe when the area stirrup ratio is greater than 0.98%. The predictions given by ACI 352- 02 are closer to the test result compared to the GB 50011-2010 prediction, with a safety margin of 9%- 46%. © 2019, Editorial Office of Journal of Building structures. Since the 9.11 incident, the impact of large commercial airliners on nuclear power plants and other important national facilities has attracted worldwide attention. The safety of flying objects hitting nuclear containment has become one of the important research topics in the field of nuclear power generation. In this paper, the impact resistance of non-prestressed and prestressed concrete slabs is studied through detailed experiments and numerical studies. By non-bonding rear sheeting, prestress of about 10MPa is applied to concrete slabs measuring 1400mm×600mm, which are then hit by hemispherical steel hammers (590kg) at heights of 2m and 4m above the center of the span. The impact force, displacement, and the reinforced concrete slab and the prestressed concrete slab are compared. In LS-DYNA finite element software, the CSCM concrete structure model is used to study the numerical values of the experiments carried out. It has been found that with the increase of impact energy, the deformation produced by reinforced concrete slabs increases and is not recoverable. On the other hand, after applying presession, the impact force of prestressed concrete slabs was increased by 53.8% and displacement was reduced by 45% due to the increase of the stiffness of the plate. The maximum reproduction deviation of the impact force and displacement values is 17% and 14%, respectively. The research results will be applied to the structural dynamic impact protection design of nuclear power plant containment. Copyright © 2022 by ASME.

Externally wrapped carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites have been considered to be effectively in strengthening or repairing steel pipes. In the present paper, an unidirectional carbon fiber fabric was used to strengthen steel defective pipes. The strengthening effectiveness of ISO/TS 24817 design methods and the effects of CFRP thickness on the burst pressure, failure mode and stress distribution of the repaired pipes were investigated through burst test and finite element analysis. Comparing with defected pipes, the burst pressure of the pipes enhanced by at least 100% strengthened with ISO/TS 24817 methods. The stress of CFRP decreases linearly from inner layer to outer. A simple finite element analysis method was developed to predict the burst pressure of unidirectional CFRP-wrapped defective steel pipes. © APFIS 2019. All right reserved.

Thick film resistors (TFRs) were screen printed and fired on fluorophlogopite glass ceramic (FGC) substrates with low elasticity modulus. The mechanical property of FGC and piezoresistivity of TFRs were studied. Test results show the sensor has favorable performance parameters including a sensitivity of 7.888, linearity of 0.716%, repeatability of 0.764% and hysteresis of 0.982% when its input is in the range from 0-3043μϵ. The strain sensors made with TFRs on FGC substrate is possible to be used in SHM of civil engineering.

Water absorptivity and frost resistance performance of self-ignition coal gangue autoclaved aerated concrete

Self-ignition coal gangue (SCG) used as one of precursors to fabricate autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC). Aiming at studying water absorptivity and frost resistance performance of SCG-based AAC (SCGAAC), three-period water absorption tests and freeze-thaw tests were carried out and the corresponding results were recorded and analyzed. In order to modify the water absorptivity of SCGAAC, foam stabilizer was applied to adjust pore structure while calcium stearate was expected to change hydrophilic feature of SCG. It was demonstrated that the compressive strength of SCGAAC containing foam stabilizer or calcium stearate declined at different levels. For water absorption, foam stabilizer failed to decrease the water content and even increased water absorption rates. Calcium stearate controlled water absorption rate successfully although the ultimate water content hardly reduced. All of the SCGAAC samples exhibited intact appearance after 50 freeze-thaw cycles and showed excellent frost resistance performance. Three models were proposed to predict water absorptivity and frost resistance performance of SCGAAC and the corresponding prediction results matched test resulted well. © The Author(s) 2021.
