This paper investigates the physical-layer security for a random indoor visible light communication (VLC) network with imperfect channel state information (CSI) and a protected zone. The VLC network consists of three nodes, i.e., a transmitter (Alice), a legitimate receiver (Bob), and an eavesdropper (Eve). Alice is fixed in the center of the ceiling, and the emitted signal at Alice satisfies the non-negativity and the dimmable average optical intensity constraint. Bob and Eve are randomly deployed on the receiver plane. By employing the protected zone and considering the imperfect CSI, the stochastic characteristics of the channel gains for both the main and the eavesdropping channels is first analyzed. After that, the closed-form expressions of the average secrecy capacity and the lower bound of secrecy outage probability are derived, respectively. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are provided to verify the accuracy of the derived theoretical expressions. Moreover, the impacts of the nominal optical intensity, the dimming target, the protected zone and the imperfect CSI on secrecy performance are discussed, respectively. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. In this paper, we propose a novel zero-forcing (ZF)-based beamforming (BF) scheme for a wireless powered cognitive satellite-terrestrial network (CSTN) operated in the millimeter wave band. Assuming that the satellite and base station are equipped with multiple antennas, we aim at maximizing the sum rate of the CSTN while satisfying the signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio requirements for both the information receivers (IRs) and earth stations, the energy harvesting requirements of the energy receivers (ERs), and the secrecy constraints at the ERs. Since the resulting optimization problem is mathematically intractable, we propose a novel multi-beam-based ZF BF scheme to generate beamforming vectors to serve the IRs and ERs. Specifically, the original nonconvex problem is decomposed into two independent subproblems. The first subproblem, which features beam orthogonality constraints, leads to closed form solutions for the beamforming vectors. The second subproblem, aiming at finding the optimal power allocation, is solved via the S-procedure. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated by simulation results.

Multimode terminals running multiple services at the same time are increasingly common, in response to this phenomenon, a network selection algorithm based on group decision making for heterogeneous wireless networks is presented in this paper. The algorithm considers each service from the terminal as a decision-maker, and obtains the weight vector of all network attributes for each service by the analytic hierarchy process, then uses the group decision making to synthesize these weight vectors. At the same time, the utility function is used to normalize the network attributes. At last, the network selection is made according to the synthesized weight vector and attribute utility. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is far superior to the TOPSIS in satisfying the Qo S requirements of different class of services, and can solve the problem of network selection for a group of services from a multi-service terminal.

In this paper, an analytical framework is developed to evaluate the uplink outage and spatial blocking performance in a multichannel heterogeneous cellular network. A weighted uplink cell association criterion and random channel reuse scheme are integrated in the considered model. The spatial locations of base stations (BSs) per tier as well as the users (UEs) are modelled as independent Poisson point processes. Because of the maximum transmit power constraint, a UE is allowed to communicate with its serving BS only when it has sufficient transmit power to support full channel inversion. With the aid of stochastic geometry, uplink spatial blocking and outage probability are respectively derived, which are validated to be quite close to the true distributions by extensive simulations. Thus, the theoretical analysis developed in this paper is valid. Then, the effect of network parameters, such as weighted factor, power cut-off threshold, and channel reuse factor, can be evaluated by quickly closed-form expressions rather than error-prone system-level simulations. © Institution of Engineering and technology. This paper proposes a beamforming (BF) scheme based on multi-objective optimization (MOO) for a cognitive satellite-terrestrial network (CSTN), where the eavesdroppers (Eves) attempt to intercept the private message conveyed to an intended user. By considering that the maximization of achievable secrecy rate (ASR) and the minimization of transmit power can not be achieved simultanesouly, we adopt artificial noise (AN) and apply the weighted Tchebycheff approach to formulate a multi-object optimization problem. Then, by introducing several auxiliary variables, applying semidefinite programming (SDP) and means of Taylor approximation, the original nonconvex MOO problem is transformed into a convex one with a series of linear constraints, and the BF weight vector and AN vector can be obtained. Finally, simulation results are given to illustrate the tradeoff between the conflicting objectives and the superiority of the proposed algorithm in comparison with the commonly used schemes. © 2018 IEEE.

The motion capture system of the wireless wearable device can achieve identification and classification of human motion through various classifiers, but wireless data transmission consumes most of the energy of the sensor node. An adaptive wireless transmission control algorithm based on context awareness is proposed realize energy efficiency optimization based on single classifier and multiple classifiers fusion. Firstly, adaptive wireless transmission control method based on fixed single classifier can effectively improve the overall energy efficiency under the limit of classification accuracy. Secondly, adaptive transmission control method of multi-classifier fusion is proposed with adjusting decision threshold based on various classifiers and their characteristics. The experimental results validate our proposed algorithm.

Uplink Performance Analysis in Multi-Tier Heterogeneous Cellular networks with Power Control and Biased User Association

A K-tier uplink heterogeneous cellular network is modelled and analysed by accounting for both truncated channel inversion power control and biased user association. Each user has a maximum transmit power constraint and transmits data when it has sufficient transmit power to perform channel inversion. With biased user association, each user is associated with a base station(BS) that provides the maximum received power weighted by a bias factor, but not their nearest BS. Stochastic geometry is used to evaluate the performances of the proposed system model in terms of the outage probability and ergodic rate for each tier as functions of the biased and power control parameters. Simulations validate our analytical derivations. Numerical results show that there exists a trade-off introduced by the power cut-off threshold and the maximum user transmit power constraint. When the maximum user transmit power becomes a binding constraint, the overall performance is independent of BS densities. In addition, we have shown that it is beneficial for the outage and rate performances by optimizing different network parameters such as the power cut-off threshold as well as the biased factors.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) technique has been recognized as a promising solution in future wireless connectivity from the sky, and UAV navigation is one of the most significant open research problems, which has attracted wide interest in the research community. However, the current UAV navigation schemes are unable to capture the UAV motion and select the best UAV-ground links in real-time, and these weaknesses overwhelm the UAV navigation performance. To tackle these fundamental limitations, in this paper, we merge the state-of-the-art deep reinforcement learning with the UAV navigation through massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technique. To be specific, we carefully design a deep Q-network (DQN) for optimizing the UAV navigation by selecting the optimal policy, and then we propose a learning mechanism for processing the DQN. The DQN is trained so that the agent is capable of making decisions based on the received signal strengths for navigating the UAVs with the aid of the powerful Q-learning. Simulation results are provided to corroborate the superiority of the proposed schemes in terms of the coverage and convergence compared with that of other schemes. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. In this paper, we investigate the performance of an amplify-and-forward satellite-aerial-terrestrial network (SATN) with a multi-antenna unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) relay, where the satellite-UAV link undergoes correlated Shadowed-Rician fading while the UAV-terrestrial links experience correlated Rician fading, respectively. Specifically, we first formulate a constrained optimization problem in terms of maximizing the system capacity to obtain the beamforming (BF) weight vectors at the UAV. By assuming that perfect channel state information (CSI) is unavailable, we design statistical CSI-aided BF scheme to enhance the system performance. Then, with the help of probability theory, we obtain the closed-form expression of outage probability for the considered SATN. Simulation results are provided to validate the effectiveness of our proposed BF scheme and the correctness of the derived expressions.

Time-Efficient Power Allocation Scheme for Two-Way Multi-relay Cognitive Radio networks

Cooperative relaying has been emerging as a key technology in Cognitive radio(CR) networks. A two-way Amplify-and-forward(AF) based multi-relay CR network is considered, where a primary user coexists with a pair of secondary users and multiple relays. A Timeefficient sub-optimal power allocation scheme(TESOPA)based on Cauchy-Schwarz inequality is provided to maximize the total end-to-end transmission rate of the secondary system. TESOPA is proposed under maximal transmission power constraints, while ensuring the quality of service of the primary user during the whole communication process. The computational complexity is sharply decreased by using the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality. Simulation results show that the proposed TESOPA scheme performs very close to the near-optimal Interior point method based power allocation(IPMPA), especially in interference dominant networks where interference constraints play a key role in determining power allocation results instead of maximal transmission power constraints.
