In recent years, WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) technology has been developed rapidly, and been widely used in the fields of industry, agriculture, medicine and so on. To solve the low communication rate and short-distance data transmission in the current temperature and humidity monitoring system, this paper designs a temperature and humidity remote monitoring system based on WSN technology. In this system, microprocessor Atmega128L is adopted as the control core of network node, and wireless transceiver module nRF905 is used to realize wireless data transmission. The data of temperature and humidity is sampled by using digital temperature sensor DS18B20 and humidity sensor SHT75 in the system. The proposed network protocol in this paper not only can realize long-rang wireless data transmission, but also can realize self-organizing and manual networking. The results of practical test show that this system has the stable and reliable performance and the advantage of scalab.lity.

As an important aspect in video content analysis, event detection is still an open problem. In particular, the study on detecting interactive events in crowd scenes is still limited. In this paper, we investigate detecting interactive events between persons, e.g. PeopleMeet, PeopleSplitUp and Embrace in complex scenes using a sequence learning based approach. By sequence learning, the spatial-temporal context information is introduced in the learning stage. Experiments have been performed over TRECVid Event Detection 2010 dataset, which contains totally 144 hours surveillance video of London Gatwick airport. According to the TRECVid-ED 2010 formal evaluation, our approach obtains promising results, with the top performance (NDCR) for PeopleMeet and PeopleSplit-Up, and second-best performance (NDCR) for Embrace. Detecting epileptic EEG signal automatically and accurately is significant in evaluating patients with epilepsy. In this study, the immune clonal algorithm (ICA) is employed to perform automatic feature selection, reducing the number of features the classifier deals with and improving the classification accuracy. In the experiment, EEG signal was decomposed into five sub-band components by a discrete wavelet transform. Features were extracted as input to train three classifiers (NB, SVM, KNN and LDA) to judge whether the EEG signal was epileptic or not. Then, ICA was introduced to select a feature subset to train the classifiers. Experimental results show that the classification accuracy based on selected features is significantly higher than that on original features. We also analyzed the relative importance of each feature. © 2012 IEEE.

Hierarchical co-clustering aims at generating dendrograms for the rows and columns of the input data matrix. The limitation of using simple hierarchical co-clustering for document clustering is that it has a lot of feature terms and documents, and it also ignores the semantic relations between feature terms. In this paper a semi-supervised clustering algorithm is proposed for hierarchical co-clustering. In the first step feature terms are clustered using a little supervised information. In the second step, the feature terms are merged as new feature attributes. And in the last step, the documents and merged feature terms are clustered using hierarchical co-clustering algorithm. Semantic information is used to measure the similarity during the hierarchical co-clustering process. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is effective and efficient. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

There are a number of leaf recognition methods, but most of them are based on Euclidean space. In this paper, we will introduce a new description of feature for the leaf image recognition, which represents the leaf contour with the ordered sequence. For a leaf image, points on the contour represent the most important information of the leaf. Thus, by extracting serial points of the leaf contour, the unique corresponding ordered sequence can be obtained for a contour. Then, we can compute the amplitude-frequency feature by performing the Discrete Fourier transform on the ordered sequence. Since the low-frequency part of the Fourier transform represents the global information and the high-frequency part the local details, we can adopt the amplitude-frequency feature for leaf image recognition. Experimental results on the famous Swedish library and ICL library show that the proposed feature is effective for leaf image recognition. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

PLSA(Probabilistic Latent Semantic Analysis) is a popular topic modeling technique for exploring document collections. Due to the increasing prevalence of large datasets, there is a need to improve the scalab.lity of computation in PLSA. In this paper, we propose a parallel PLSA algorithm called PPLSA to accommodate large corpus collections in the MapReduce framework. Our solution efficiently distributes computation and is relatively simple to implement. © 2012 IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

Block transform coding using discrete cosine transform is the most popular approach for image compression. However, many annoying blocking artifacts are generated due to coarse quantization on transform coefficients independently. This paper proposes an effective blocking artifacts reduction method by estimating the transform coefficients from their quantized version. In the proposed scheme, we estimate the transform coefficients based on an image statistic model and non-local similarity among blocks in transform domain. The parameters used in our proposed scheme are discussed and adaptively selected. Extensive experimental results show that our proposed method significantly reduces blocking artifacts and improves the subjective and the objective quality of block transform coded images. © 2012 IEEE.

The conventional differential space-frequency codes (DSFC) based on cyclic delay diversity (CDD) only could achieve the same transmission rate with that of a single transmit antenna system, the spectral efficiency was low. To improve the spectral efficiency in a non-coherent multiple antenna system, the advantage of CDD is considered fully in this paper and then a rate-embedded differential space-frequency coding scheme based on grouped CDD is proposed. In the proposed scheme, all transmit antennas are partitioned into several groups firstly, the conventional cyclic delays are adopted to achieve spatial diversity in each group, those symbols among different groups are transmitted differentially with low rate and high rate message matrices alternately, consequently high rate transmission is obtained. Simulation results verify that, compared with the conventional DSFC based on CDD, the proposed coding scheme can achieve obviously higher transmission rates and better error performances. © 2012 Binary Information Press January 2012.

Utility services provided by cloud computing rely on virtual customer communities forming spontaneously and evolving continuously. Clarifying the explicit boundaries of these communities is thus essential to the quality of utility services in cloud computing. Communities with overlapping features or prominent peripheral vertexes are usually typical irregular communities. Traditional community identification algorithms are limited in discovering irregular topological structures from CR networks, whereas these irregular shapes typically play an important role in finding prominent customers which are ignored in social CRM otherwise. We present a novel method of discovering irregular communities. It firstly finds and merges primitive maximal cliques and the irregular features of overlapping and prominent sparse vertices are further considered. An empirical case and a methodology comparison confirm the feasibility and efficiency of our approach. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.

In this paper, a new method was applied to predict the protein subcellular localization. The features used in the paper were the Distance frequency (DF), the Physical and chemical composition (PCC) and the Pseudo Amino Acid composition (PseAA). The classifier was integrated by Binary tree and Error-Correcting Output Coding (ECOC) based six Artifical neural networks (ANN). The prediction ability was evaluated by 5-jackknife cross-validation. By comparing its results with other methods, such as Lei-SVM and ESVM, the experimental result demonstrated that our method outperformed their predictions, and indicate the new approach is feasible and effective. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
