Based on the minimize spanning tree and Fiedler vector, a new feature matching algorithm is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a weighted complete graph is constructed with the feature points of each image respectively, then search the minimal spanning tree in each complete graph. Secondly, perform spectral decomposition on the Gaussian-weighted Laplace matrix of the minimize spanning tree respectively, and divide the feature points into several different sets based on the vector(Fiedler vector) corresponding to the second smallest eigenvalue of Laplace matrix , then the corresponding relation between sets is obtained. And construct Gaussian-weighted Laplace matrices between the corresponding sets, then submit the matrices to spectral decomposition. Finally, complete the feature matching by constructing matching matrix with eigenvalues and eigenvectors. Experiment results indicate that the algorithm has a high accuracy. ©2009 IEEE.

Based on the center of graph, a point pattern feature matching method is proposed here. Firstly, a weighted complete graph is constructed with the feature points of each image, and then the center of each graph is found respectively. With the vertex sets of the centers, the feature points are divided into several layers according to the distance from the center, and then the corresponding relation between layers is obtained. Secondly, the Gaussian-weighted Laplace matrices are constructed between the corresponding layers. And then the matrices are submitted to singular-value decomposition(SVD). Finally, represent the feature points with eigenvectors obtained from SVD, and then construct matching matrix to obtain the final matching results. Synthetic data and real world data both indicate that our method has a higher accuracy than theirs, and it can deal with the matching problem with more feature points effectively. ©2009 IEEE.

We describe for dependency parsing an annotation adaptation strategy, which can automatically transfer the knowledge from a source corpus with a different annotation standard to the desired target parser, with the supervision by a target corpus annotated in the desired standard. Furthermore, instead of a hand-annotated one, a projected treebank derived from a bilingual corpus is used as the source corpus. This benefits the resource-scarce languages which haven't different hand-annotated treebanks. Experiments show that the target parser gains significant improvement over the baseline parser trained on the target corpus only, when the target corpus is smaller. © 2009 Association for Computational Linguistics

Considering there are many seismicity factors with information overlap, we apply a gray generating -A generating GM model which has higher precision to mine the potential law of these factors, and apply principal component analysis(PCA) approach to reduce the dimension of these factors, choose several seismicity factors which represent most of the information that the original seismicity factors carry, by utilizing Bayes posterior probability discriminant analysis, to predict the largest magnitude for certain region and period numerically and synthetically. As an example, we predicte the annual largest magnitude for North China(30°∼ 42°E, 108°∼125°N). The application results show the practical value of this model in the medium-short-term earthquake prediction. © 2009 IEEE.

Tree-based statistical machine translation models have made significant progress in recent years, especially when replacing 1-best trees with packed forests. However, as the parsing accuracy usually goes down dramatically with the increase of sentence length, translating long sentences often takes long time and only produces degenerate translations. We propose a new method named subsentence division that reduces the decoding time and improves the translation quality for tree-based translation. Our approach divides long sentences into several sub-sentences by exploiting tree structures. Large-scale experiments on the NIST 2008 Chinese-to-English test set show that our approach achieves an absolute improvement of 1.1 BLEU points over the baseline system in 50% less time. © 2009 ACL and AFNLP.

To save time, improve flexibility and guarantee accuracy of the navigation system of the mobile robots, a multifunction landmark and a new navigation algorithm are proposed in this paper. With the new algorithm and landmark the mobile robots can be located by only a single landmark, and can be navigated in a large area by serial landmarks. The simple configuration and the convenient material of the landmark increased the system 's flexibility and decreased the complexity of the algorithm. From the experimental results it can be concluded that the navigation system has fast navigation speed and high navigation accuracy. © 2009 IEEE.

A novel watermarking sharing system having the ability of sharing gray-level secret images with multi-user is proposed. Multiple-based number system is used to split the secret into n meaningless shares, each share is embedded into respective cover image with controlled distortion and to be assigned to each user afterwards. The architecture of the proposed watermarking system is an open issue, which means the system is easy to be implemented according to the purposes and concerns of the users. The main feature of the proposed system is sharing a secret of gray-level image among multi-users;another application of such system is ownership verification. To reveal the secret, the necessary amount of shares has to be presented. That is, the secret can be recovered even if some shares were lost. Simulation results show that the recovered secret has robustness against a wide range of imaging processing operations. © 2009 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

The resource limitation of mobile devices causes the problem that the existing image processing software based on the centralized computing mode had difficulty running in mobile devices. A solution is given in the paper by adopting web service-based image processing method. For one thing, image processing tasks were distributed to service providers' service registry and service requesters. For another, what the service providers should do was only to invocate the specific image processing services provided by service providers. Consequently, web service-based solution reduces the resource consumption of mobile devices by redistributing image processing tasks. Compared with traditional methods of image processing, Web service-based image processing method has the advantages of loose coupling and component oriented and can take full advantage of the computing resources in heterogeneous network. Thus web service-based image processing method can effectively solve the resource bottle-neck that traditional image processing software had. ©2009 IEEE.

Over the last two decades, many image processing problems have been modeled by partial differential equations (PDEs), such as restoration and segmentation. Due to good performance at controlling the trade-off between noise removal and edge-preserving, second-order PDEs play leading role in image restoration. The dilemma for second-order PDEs is the so-called staircasing effect. One remedy for this issue is the fourt-horder PDEs, but the fourth-order PDEs suffer from the problem of oversmoothing the edges. In this paper, a novel PDE is proposed based on minimal surface and p(x) harmonic maps. The proposed model behaves like TV model at edge regions while like heat transfer equation within homogeneous regions. The proposed model is further projected to the normal direction of a smoothed version of the original image for the purpose of edge preserving. Several experiments have been conducted and promising results are observed. ©2009 IEEE.

With the development of architecture design, virtual reality, entertainment, mechanical engineering and cultural heritage, digital watermarking has played an important role in copyright protection of 3-D objects. However, due to the problems such as computational complexity and capturing local geometrical feature of 3D mesh, watermarking of 3D objects has not reached the same level of maturity as that of still images and video. In order to alleviate them, mesh partition is applied in the algorithm. This paper presents a novel mesh partition approach which can predict the partition boundary ofstego-mesh with some additional information instead of the presence of the cover-mesh. The canonical positions of meshes are determined by employing the face normal principal component analysis. So the additional information is picked up scatteredly from the elevation of the cover-mesh in canonical coordinate systems and used to match the elevation of the stego-mesh. After matching the elevation, the deflected degree of coordinate system is estimated to realign the stego-mesh approximately and plot out the partition boundary. Finally, an improved watermarking is proposed and a group of experiment results are presented to verify the stability of the proposed partition scheme against some attach imposed on meshes. © 2009 IEEE.
