The characteristics of fracture networks is of great significance for unconventional geo-energy exploitation such as shale oil, shale gas and geo-thermal extraction. Natural fractures and induced fractures after reservoir stimulation control the mechanical properties and fluid flow of the reservoirs. The quantitative characterization and reconstruction of rough fractures are essential for studying the fluid flow and mechanical properties of the reservoirs with complicated fracture networks. Based on vector statistics, a vector statistical method (VSM) for quantitative characterization of rough fractures is proposed and tested using 10 standard joint profiles. Furthermore, stochastic reconstruction algorithms for single rough fractures in two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) models are proposed. Afterwards, a morphology comparison and quantitative evaluation of single rough fractures before and after reconstruction are conducted. When the reconstruction algorithms for a single rough fracture are used, the difference in the tortuosity and different fractal dimensions before and after reconstruction are less than 5% and 2.5%, respectively, which means the reconstruction algorithms proposed herein can reconstruct rough fractures with approximate statistical characteristics and quantitative characterization parameters. Subsequently, these stochastic reconstruction algorithms for single rough fractures are further developed for 2D and 3D modeling of conventional and rough discrete fracture networks. The results indicate that the stochastic reconstruction algorithms proposed in this study have significant potential for rough discrete fracture network modeling. In addition, the merits and limitations of the proposed algorithms in modeling discrete fracture network models are discussed. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Fracturing is one of the key stimulation treatment techniques with wide application prospect for oil-gas well and is a kind of main form of natural gas exploitation currently, which is especially important for development of shale gas. However, the noise generated in the process of fracturing operation may impact the site operators and residents in the periphery. The typical fracturing operation process is selected in this paper to implement the actual measurement of noise and record such relevant parameters as operation condition and ambient environment. Based on the computation method of outdoor acoustic transmission attenuation, Cadna/A ambient noise simulation software is utilized to establish the acoustic environment simulation simplification model for certain oil well fracturing operation, implement the simulation study for noise impact distribution condition in the process of fracturing operation construction and perform the contrastive analysis for actually-measured value on the site. The result shows that the site operator's contact noise value is higher than the occupational exposure limit in National Occupational Sanitary Standard GBZ 2.2-2007 Occupational Exposure Limit for Harmful Factors in Workplace and the noise produced during operation in the daytime doesn't meet the emission limit in National Standard GB 12348-2008 Emission Standard for Ambient Noise at the Boundary of Industrial Enterprise. Therefore, in combination with the actual fracturing operation, the reasonable noise prevention and control measures are proposed. The study result of this paper has certain reference value for prediction and assessment of fracturing operation noise. © 2016 IEEE.

Leaching of manganese residue for the preparation of trimanganese tetroxide with a high surface area

The accumulation of electrolytic manganese residue (EMR) has become a serious problem and its recycling will be of great benefit to protect the environment and assist sustainable development. The reusing method was conducted by leaching EMR with sulfuric acid and the optimal leaching condition was 1:3 (g/g) as the ratio of solid to liquid with 20% (g/g) H2SO4 , heating at 90 ℃ for 3 hours, which aims at extracting Mn in a sulfuric acid medium. The produced MnSO4 solution was precipitated by adding alkali and oxidized in aqueous phase. The oxidized products were characterized by various techniques, including X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (IR) spectrometry, vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), with Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area instrument and laser particle size analyzer. The final products were confirmed to be a single-phase Mn3O4 .

Simulation of liquid-gas flow in full-scale Caroussel oxidation ditch with surface aeration

A model for liquid-gas flow （MLGF）, considering the flee movement of liquid surface, was built to simulate the wastewater velocity field and gas distribution in a full-scale Caroussel oxidation ditch with surface aeration. It was calibrated and validated by field measurement data, and the calibrated parameters and sections were selected based on both model analysis and numerical computation. The simulated velocities of MLGF were compared to that of a model for wastewater-sludge flow （MWSF）. The results show that the free liquid surface considered in MLGF improves the simulated velocity results of upper layer and surface. Moreover, distribution of gas volume fraction （GVF） simulated by MLGF was compared to dissolved oxygen （DO） measured in the oxidation ditch. It is shown that DO distribution is affected by many factors besides GVF distribution.

Gas Station safety is non-linear systems that refer to many factors and multilayer. There are much flammable and explosive compressed natural gas in gas station, and it is considered as a kind of major hazard source. Therefore, the safety assessment of gas station has their special important and realistic significance. Based on the types of accident and risk factors, a new index system of safety assessment was set up. The weight of the evaluation index would be analyzed by analytic hierarchy process, and then the matrix of evaluating results could be calculated through fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. At last, the grade of safety for gas station could be obtained. This Safety Assessment Model can be applied for every gas station. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

Forecast model for inner corrosion rate of oil pipeline based on PSO-SVM

In order to improve the prediction precision of inner corrosion rate of oil pipeline, this paper proposes a novel forecast model, which combines the superior regression performance of a support vector machine and the global optimisation ability of particle swarm optimisation. The SVM regression model, with radial basis function (RBF) kernel, is established to facilitate the inner corrosion rate of oil pipeline;and the global optimiser, PSO is employed to optimise the SVM parameters needed in SVM regression. The proposed model can reduce the dimensionality of data space and preserve features of inner corrosion rate of oil pipeline. The proposed PSO-SVM model, compared with BP neural network model, had higher accuracy and speed and the maximum error is 0.6%. Thus, it provides a new method for the forecast of inner corrosion rate of oil pipeline. Copyright © 2012 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Influence of influent on anaerobic ammonium oxidation in an Expanded Granular Sludge Bed-Biological Aerated Filter integrated system

Shortcut nitrification-denitrification,anaerobic ammonium oxidation(ANAMMOX),and methanogenesis have been successfully coupled in an Expanded Granular Sludge Bed-Biological Aerated Filter(EGSB-BAF)integrated *** fed different synthetic wastewater with chemical oxygen demand(COD)of 300-1200 mg·L^(-1)and NH_(4)^(+)-N of 30-120 mg·L^(-1)at the outer recycle ratio of 200%,the influence of influent on ANAMMOX in the integrated system was investigated in this *** experimental results showed that higher COD concentration caused an increase in denitrification and methanogenesis but a decrease in ANAMMOX;however,when an influent with the low concentration of COD was used,the opposite changes could be *** influent NH_(4)^(+)-N concentration favored ANAMMOX when the COD concentration of influent was ***,low COD=NH_(4)^(+)-N ratio would decrease competition for nitrite between ANAMMOX and denitrification,which was favorable for reducing the negative effect of organic COD on *** good performance of the integrated system indicated that the bacterial community of denitrification,ANAMMOX,and methanogenesis could be dynamically maintained in the sludge of EGSB reactor for a certain range of influent.

TeOx-SiO2 composite films having third-order nonlinearities were prepared by electrochemically induced sol-gel deposition method on ITO *** third-order optical nonlinearities of the films were measured by Z-scan *** third-order nonlinear susceptibilities（χ^（（3））） of the as-prepared films are 5.9×10^（-7） to 4.29×10^（-6）*** surface morphology and composition of the films were characterized by SEM/EDX,which identified that Te metallic particles well dispersed in TeO_x-SiO_2 gel films.

The impact force by rockfall events is the main loads for structure design such as tunnel entrances and rockfall passive mitigation mearsures. But the impact force formula are empirical or theoretical calculation methods in the case of positive impact. To solve the impact force calculation problem in case of olique impact, by systematicly comparative analysis between numerical simulation and formula calculation method in case of different impacting speed, different buffer layer thickness and different rockfall size, the authors found that numerical analysis and formula calculated results changed in the same way. And the numerical differences are within 10%. It si proved that by speed decomposition, extending the positive impact force calculation mehtod to the the oblique collision is feasible. But also for calculation of rockfall impact force beyond the scope of the formula, numerical simulation is a feasible way. © 2011 IEEE.
