In order to study the seismic isolation bearing problem of the single tower cable-stayed bridge under earthquake action, the seismic performance of the bridge is improved at the conceptual design stage. For the overload yield bearing, a single tower cable-stayed bridge in the high intensity area is taken as the research object. The full-bridge three-dimensional finite element model was established by SAP2000 spatial structure analysis and design program. The pile-soil interaction was considered, the vertical joint of the pylon was simulated, and the structural natural vibration characteristics, response spectrum and nonlinear seismic response time history analysis were carried out. meanwhile, the influence of the shear of bearing on the natural vibration period and seismic response of single-tower cable-stayed bridge is also studied in this paper. The results show that under the nonlinear time history analysis, the bearing will be sheared under the E1 probability. After the shear, the structural period is prolonged, the seismic response of the auxiliary pier and the side pier is greatly improved and the plastic hinge can be avoided. Under the E1 probability and the E2 probability, considering the shear of the bearing, the seismic response of each main component of the structure is smaller than the ultimate bending moment of the section, and the damping effect is good. The research results show that the overload yield bearing has a high promotion value and can provide reference for the seismic design of the same type of bridge. © 2020 IEEE.

Image-based method for concrete bridge crack detection

This paper presents a modified image processing method for detecting cracks in surface images of concrete bridges. Clip, filling and rotation transformation are applied on concrete images for precise extracting cracks. Modified C-V model, adaptive threshold, morphology, C-V model and Canny are compared on segmenting crack images which are gathered in different illumin.tion. Analysis results indicated that the misclassification rate of the modified C-V model is 3.56% and the operation time is 96 ms. Therefore, the proposed method can be used for the accurate detection of cracks in surface images recorded under various conditions. Moreover, the estimated crack widths are in good agreement with those measured manually. Copyright © 2013 Binary Information Press.

A floating protection system is presented to protect bridge structures from vessel impacts. Based on general contact-impact nonlinear finite element technique, the high resolution models of the 5,000-DWT ship and the protection system are developed to evaluate the performance of the floating protection system under vessel collisions. The results show that the protection system can effectively absorb the moderate impact energy from the ship and avoid the damage of both the ship and structures. Finally, a general design procedure is discussed briefly for practical design. © 2011 IEEE.
