Low-power task scheduling algorithm for large-scale cloud data centers

How to effectively reduce the energy consumption of large-scale data centers is a key issue in cloud computing. This paper presents a novel low-power task scheduling algorithm （L3SA） for large-scale cloud data centers. The winner tree is introduced to make the data nodes as the leaf nodes of the tree and the final winner on the purpose of reducing energy consumption is selected. The complexity of large-scale cloud data centers is fully consider, and the task comparson coefficient is defined to make task scheduling strategy more reasonable. Experiments and performance analysis show that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the node utilization, and reduce the overall power consumption of the cloud data center.

Impact of MAC frame length on energy efficiency in 6LowPAN

To reach necessary end-to-end connectivity between the Internet and wireless sensor networks （WSNs）, the Internet Engineering Task Force （IETF） IPv6 over low power wireless personal area network （6LowPAN） working group has been established and introduced an adaptation layer for integration of IEEE 802.15.4 physical layer/media access control （PHY/MAC） layers and the upper layers of any Intemet protocol （IP）-based networks, such as the Internet. The energy efficiency is one of the most important performance measures in WSNs because most sensor nodes are only battery powered so we should reduce the energy consumption to the lowest to extend the life of nodes. Therefore the determination of MAC frame length should be carefully considered since that the radio frequency （RF） module consumes most the energy of a sensor node meanwhile the MAC protocol is the direct controller of RF module. In this paper, we provide a star-shaped 6LowPAN non-beacon mode with unslotted carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance （CSMA/CA） mechanism to access to the channel and model the stochastic behavior of a target end node as the M/G/1 queuing system. Analytical expressions for some parameters such as channel busy probability, packet loss probability and energy efficiency are obtained in this paper and our analytical results can clearly show the impact of MAC frame length on the energy efficiency of a target node in both ideal and lossy channel.

Robust and Passive Motion Detection with COTS WiFi Devices

Device-free Passive（DfP） detection has received increasing attention for its ability to support various pervasive applications. Instead of relying on variable Received Signal Strength（RSS）, most recent studies rely on finer-grained Channel State Information（CSI）. However, existing methods have some limitations, in that they are effective only in the Line-Of-Sight（LOS） or for more than one moving individual. In this paper, we analyze the human motion effect on CSI and propose a novel scheme for Robust Passive Motion Detection（R-PMD）. Since traditional low-pass filtering has a number of limitations with respect to data denoising, we adopt a novel Principal Component Analysis（PCA）-based filtering technique to capture the representative signals of human motion and extract the variance profile as the sensitive metric for human detection. In addition, existing schemes simply aggregate CSI values over all the antennas in MIMO systems. Instead, we investigate the sensing quality of each antenna and aggregate the best combination of antennas to achieve more accurate and robust detection. The R-PMD prototype uses off-the-shelf WiFi devices and the experimental results demonstrate that R-PMD achieves an average detection rate of 96.33% with a false alarm rate of 3.67%.

Tactile-assisted point cloud super-resolution

With the rapid advancement of three-dimensional (3D) scanners and 3D point cloud acquisition technology, the application of 3D point clouds has been increasingly expanding in various fields. However, due to the limitations of 3D sensors, the collected point clouds are often sparse and non-uniform. In this work, we introduce local tactile information into the point cloud super-resolution task to aid in enhancing the resolution of the point cloud using fine-grained local details. Specifically, the local tactile point cloud is denser and more accurate compared to the low-resolution point cloud. By leveraging tactile information, we can obtain better local features. Therefore, we propose a feature extraction module that can efficiently fuse visual information with dense local tactile information. This module leverages the features from both modalities to achieve improved super-resolution results. In addition, we introduce a point cloud super-resolution dataset that includes tactile information. Qualitative and quantitative experiments show that our work performs much better than existing similar works that do not include tactile information, both in terms of handling low-resolution inputs and revealing high-fidelity details.

Secure P2P topology based on a multidimensional DHT space mapping

Distributed search and routing algorithms based on the DHT(distributed hash table) protocol have attracted considerable attention in structured P2P(peer-to-peer) research as a result of favorable properties such as distribution,self-organization,and high *** with a traditional C/S(client/server) network,the probability of peers initiating malicious behavior increases dramatically because of their self-governing and dynamic characteristics,which also make it harder to satisfy the peers’ security required by *** this paper,we propose a new secure DHT protocol based on a multidimensional mapping *** mechanism maps peers to a multidimensional space by dividing the identifiers into ***,a series of secure methods and routing algorithms are provided to achieve secure DHT in smaller *** with state-ofthe-art approaches,the theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the multidimensional mapping mechanism can effectively improve the average success rate of a resource search by inhibiting malicious behavior.

In this paper, a novel video back projection super- resolution method using non-local prior is proposed. Our approach has three steps. First, we make initial motion estimation with block-matching and fine block matching to search for the pixels with similar structural content from video sequences. In this process, an adaptive technique is introduced to avoid redundant search. Second, we do initial interpolation to the input video sequences and a bilateral filtering is applied to the interpolation frames to achieve edge-preserving image smoothing. Third, a video non-local means filter is applied to modify the error image in iteration step of the iterative back projection. The experimental result shows that the proposed method can increase image details, moreover, the chessboard effect and ringing effect along image edges can be removed and sharp and clear edges in visual perception will be obtained.

A novel back-projection framework for single image super-resolution is proposed in this paper. In our framework, the edge of the high-resolution image is firstly detected by the canny edge detection algorithm and the bilateral filtering algorithm, and the high-resolution image is divided into edge area and flat area. Then the edge area of the high resolution image is filtered by the adaptive kernel regression denoising algorithm in the iterative back-projection process. And the flat area of the high resolution image is reconstructed by the iterative back- projection method. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can reconstruct high quality images in both the measure of objective quality and the subjective perception.

Based on the sequence entropy of Shannon information theory, we work on the network coding technology in wireless sensor network (WSN). In this paper, we take into account the similarity of the transmission sequences at the network coding node in the multi-sources and multi-receivers network in order to compress the data redundancy. Theoretical analysis and computer simulation results show that this proposed scheme not only further improves the efficiency of network transmission and enhances the throughput of the network, but also reduces the energy consumption of sensor nodes and extends the network life cycle.

Blockchain-based decentralized applications (DApps) offer enhanced security and decentralization features;nevertheless, their maintenance demands substantial computational resources and poses challenges for deployment in mobile networks. To address this, a number of studies have explored offloading blockchain mining tasks from mobile users to mobile edge computing (MEC) servers. However, the existing literature overlooks the fact that MEC servers can not only mine for mobile users but also mine for themselves, potentially explaining why MEC mining offloading has not gained broad acceptance within the industry. In this work, we exploit a more practical case and rethink the question of whether MEC servers lease computing power to mobile users by taking into account that MEC servers can mine for themselves. We establish a game model and apply backward induction to analytically characterize Nash equilibria for mining strategies adopted by MEC and mobile users. Our findings suggest that, if MEC can mine for self, MEC would mine for mobile users only under specific conditions where mobile users possess superior information gathering capability (at least better than the MEC server) or the whole blockchain system exhibits significant network value. We further provide a series of simulations to verify our conclusion and illustrate the impact of network parameters on the strategies of both sides. © 2025 IEEE.
