Estimation of distribution algorithms for knapsack problem

Estimation of distribution algorithms (EDAs) is a new kind of evolution algorithm. In EDAs, through the statistics of the information of selected individuals in current group, the probability of the individual distribution in next generation is given and the next generation of group is formed by random sampling. A wide range of mathematical model of the knapsack problem are proposed. In this paper, the EDAs is applied to solve the knapsack problem. The influence of several strategies, such as numbers of population and better population selection proportions are analyzed. Simulation results show that the EDAs is reliable and effective for solving the knapsack problem. The Maltab code is given also. It can easily be modified for any combinatorial problem for which we have no good specialized algorithm. © 2014 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

Knowledge tracing (KT) is a crucial task in online learning, aimed at tracing and predicting each student's knowledge states throughout their learning process. Over the past decade, it has garnered widespread attention due to it provides the potential for more tailored and adaptive online learning experiences. Although most current KT methodologies emphasize optimizing network structures to enhance predictive accuracy for future student performance, they often neglect anomalous interactions in students' learning processes, which may arise from low data quality (i.e., inferior question quality) and abnormal student behaviors (i.e., guessing and mistakes). To this end, in this paper, we propose a novel framework, termed HD-KT, designed to enhance the robustness of existing KT methodologies with Hybrid learning interactions Denoising approach. Specifically, we introduce two detectors for anomalous learning interactions, namely knowledge state-guided anomaly detector and student profile-guided anomaly detector. In the first detection module, we design a sequential autoencoder to identify anomalous learning interactions by detecting atypical student knowledge states. In the second module, we incorporate an attention mechanism by modeling a student's long-term profile to capture irregular interactions. Extensive experiments on four real-world benchmark datasets have decisively shown our HD-KT markedly boosts the robustness of numerous prevailing KT models, consequently increasing the accuracy of future student performance predictions. Additionally, our case studies highlight the versatility of HD-KT in addressing diverse downstream tasks, such as exercise quality analysis and learning behavior-based student clustering. © 2024 ACM.

Dual-energy CBCT imaging plays a crucial role in advanced imaging applications due to its ability to quantify material components. Although there are multiple established systems for dual-energy imaging, they often come with high deployment costs. This study investigates the feasibility of dual-energy material decomposition on a less expensive dual-source CBCT system. Due to the specific geometry of dual-source CBCT, cone-beam (CB) artifacts seriously degrade the material decomposition quality when the direct inversion method is adopted. In this paper, a novel dual-source intra-guided material decomposition framework is proposed to suppress CB artifacts in the material maps. Firstly, a dual-source two-pass algorithm is developed for artifact pre-correction during image reconstruction. Then, the structure of small cone-angle regions from one X-ray source is utilized to guide cone beam artifact removal in large cone-angle regions from another source. Finally, direct matrix inverse material decomposition is applied to the filtered image. Extensive experiments have been conducted on the authentic human phantom and demonstrate that the proposed framework achieves excellent performance in cone beam artifact reduction compared to other methods, and significantly enhances the quality of the material maps. © 2024 IEEE.

We propose a new 3D image segmentation method based on prediction, block-matching and partial 3D constraint in this paper. The algorithm only needs to set a few key points in the first image. We use intensity information and block-matching to optimize the initial condition, and consider the 3D object's characteristics at the same time. By using the partial 3D constraints we can get the result of 2D and 3D smoothness. Experimental results validate its usefulness in 3D image segmentation.

The application of CBCT systems in intraoperative environments has become increasingly common, but concurrent CBCT systems are unsuitable for situations that require a large longitudinal imaging FoV, such as orthopedics. To increase longitudinal coverage, we developed a dual-source CBCT (DS-CBCT) system in which two ray sources are symmetrically placed along the central plane. After further analyzing its geometric characteristics, we propose an analytical reconstruction algorithm termed DT-FDK specialized for DS-CBCT, which combines cone-beam rebinning and two rays with smaller cone angles among the four conjugate rays to further suppress cone beam artifacts. The system design and reconstruction algorithm are tested on both simulated and real-scanned data. Results show that the DS-CBCT can expand the effective imaging volume by 37.1% compared to single-source CBCT systems. The reconstructed images by DT-FDK also show improved image quality compared to traditional reconstruction algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

Recently, Authentication protocol has been recognized as an important factor for grid computing security. This paper described a new simple and efficient Grid authentication system providing user anonymity. Our system is based on hash function, and mobile users only do symmetric encryption and decryption. In our system, it takes only one round of messages exchange between the mobile user and the visited network, and one round of message exchange between the visited network and the corresponding home network. The proposed architecture possesses several desirable emerging properties that enable it to provide an improved level of security for grid computing systems..

In neighborhood rough set model, the majority rule based neighborhood classifier (NC) is easy to be misjudged with the increasing of the size of information granules. To remedy this deficiency, we propose a neighborhood collab.rative classifier (NCC) based on the idea of collab.rative representation based classification (CRC). NCC first performs feature selection with neighborhood rough set, and then instead of solving the classification problem by the majority rule, NCC solves a similar problem with collab.rative representation among the neighbors of each unseen sample. Experiments on UCI data sets demonstrate that: 1) Our NCC achieves satisfactory performance in larger neighborhood information granules when compared with NC; 2) NCC reduces the size of dictionary when compared with CRC.
