Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are playing an increasingly important role in many research areas. Pair-wise potentials are widely used in MD simulations of bio-molecules, polymers, and nano-scale materials. Due to a low compute-to-memory-access ratio, their calculation is often bounded by memory transfer speeds. Sunway TaihuLight is one of the fastest supercomputers featuring a custom SW26010 many-core processor. Since the SW26010 has some critical limitations regarding main memory bandwidth and scratchpad memory size, it is considered as a good platform to investigate the optimization of pair-wise potentials especially in terms of data reusage. MD algorithms often use a neighbor-list data structure to reduce the computational workload. In this paper, we show that a cell-list-based approach is more suitable for the SW26010 processor. We apply a number of novel optimization methods including self-adaptable replica-summation for conflict-free parallelization, parameter profiles for flexible vectorization, and particle-cell cutoff checking filters for reducing the computational workload. © 2020 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In this paper, we introduce memos, which integrates suitable memory management policies and schedules resources over the entire memory hierarchy in hybrid memory system. Powered by an OS kernel level monitoring tool, memos captures memory patterns online, and then leverages them to guide the memory page placement and data mapping. Experimental results show, on average, memos can benefit memory utilization, contributing to system throughput and QoS by 19.1% and 23.6%. Moreover, memos can reduce the NVM side memory latency by 3~83.3%, energy consumption by 25.1~99%, and benefit the NVM lifetime significantly (40× improvement on average).

To avoid performance fluctuation of radio frequency identification (RFID) system while the tag is attached on objects with different materials, a platform-tolerant UHF RFID tag antenna with stable high gain is proposed in this paper. The antenna is composed of an upper layer feeding loop and a lower layer planar dipole. Inductively coupling approach is adopted to feed, so that large mutual inductance could be introduced into the incident impedance of antenna, which enables great match between RFID chip and antenna. The coupling feeding method can also significantly decrease the impact on antenna impedance due to the introduced parallel capacity between radiation plane and platform. The realized results show that the antenna has an impedance bandwidth (S112 plate of aluminum, paper, copper, glass and air to be the platform, during these experiments the antenna gain varies less than 1dB. Compared with other cavity backed antenna or AMC, EBG based antenna, the antenna proposed in this paper has higher gain with an extremely simple structure which performs significant advantage for mass production.

In spite of great efforts to expand the network infrastructure, it is still hard to catch the rapid growing need to serve tremendous subscribers with significant traffic. To effectively allocate the resource among mobile telecommunication operators and Internet Service Providers (ISP), grasping the highly dynamic traffic patterns can enable effective network planning and optimization for state-of-the-art mobile Internet. We employ traffic behavior analysis method to analyze and model the Internet traffic. Due to the subscribers' number of streaming media accounting over 60% of the entire traffic, we conduct a complete study to analyze this kind of traffic. By contrast, we also give the analysis result of another application, Instant Message (IM). Applying our newly proposed clustering methodology, we describe the regional characteristic of applications. This research subsequently enables more subtle and efficient mobile Internet operating modes to benefit operators and ISPs.

Person re-identification (re-ID), which is to connect pedestrians with the same identity in different scenarios, has been more widely used in case detection of security. The re-ID datasets and technology have contributed greatly to advancing community research. There are currently no availab.e low-light datasets due to the difficulty of collecting and lab.ling images of people in low-light scenes. As a result, the vast majority of current re-ID methods do not have the recognition capability in low-light scenes. However, the recognition of persons in the low-light surveillance video has become an important issue to be solved for urban security, which plays an important role in improving the crime-solving rate of public safety departments and protecting people's lives and property. In this paper, we propose an Adversarial Recovery Network (ARN) that, unlike other approaches, enables a re-ID model with low-light recognition capability without the need for low-light data. Specifically, we first degrade the original images to generate multi-level low-light images;then obtain recovered images through the adversarial recovery module, and finally input the recovered images into the CNN network to extract pedestrian recognition knowledge. In addition, to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we also propose a low-light re-ID dataset (LOLR). Extensive experiments on LOLR have shown that our method outperforms other competitors by a wide margin. The dataset and code are availab.e online at https://***/xl02111/ARN. © 2023 ACM.

Increasingly growing various multimedia services (e.g., interactive live video and so on) have brought tremendous pressure on existing static defense techniques. To cope with inherent drawback of static defense techniques, Network Moving Target Defense (NMTD) such as route mutation (RM) was proposed. What's more, applying reinforcement learning (RL) into RM has been proved feasible in our previous work. But two main problems still need to be considered in this combination of RL with RM: 1) It lacks the consideration of multiple flows situation. 2) With the state-action space grow larger, current solution can't handle efficiently. In this paper, we propose a deep Q-learning method for RM (DQ-RM) to solve above two problems. Firstly, benefited from the satisfiability module theory, we formalize RM space considering single flow and multiple flows concurrently. Then we further propose a deep reinforcement learning-based RM scheme based on our previous work, which is suitable for large-scale state-action space. Finally, extensive experimental results highlight the improvement of DQ-RM in defense performance and convergence speed compared to the representative solution. © 2020 IEEE.

Ultrasonic guided waves propagating in bounded elastic media called waveguide are used extensively nowadays for rapid screening and long distance inspection of defect-prone structures. Various types of transducers are availab.e for guided wave generation, including piezoelectric transducers and electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMATs) etc.. EMAT is based on Lorentz force and/or magnetostrictive effect, and advantageous sometimes because of its non-contact nature. An alternating winding magnetostrictive type EMAT for torsional mode ultrasonic guided wave generation in a steel pipe is introduced in this paper. This new transducer design is composed of a pre-magnetized Nickel strip with circumferential static magnetic field and a coaxial coil in an alternating winding pattern. Theoretically this transducer design could be viewed as an extension of existing magnetostrictive type EMAT for SH guided wave generation in a steel plate. The alternating winding pattern enables accurate and easy control of guided wave mode. Results of experiments done on a steel pipe were shown to verify this transducer design. © 2009 IEEE.

Shape context is intended to be a way of describing shapes that allows for measuring shape similarity and recovering point correspondences. It is widely used in object recognition, and gets encouraging performance. But shape context is easily affected by noise points and slightly transition. In image processing, bilinear interpolation is practical and effective, allowing the resulting image appears smoother rather than jagged rendering, and more robust to slightly transition. In this paper, we use the bilinear interpolation to calculate shape context. Experimental result on 20 classes of object containing 500 images shows that robust objects matching can be achieved with our proposed method. © 2010 IEEE.

We present the design of pService system for P2P Web services discovery supporting similarity earch with its locality-preserving feature based on modified Skip Graph. In pService, the most important property (e.g. service name) of a service is viewed as the indexing key of a peer node. The other properties are extracted as multiattributes which would be mapped into one-dimensional indices using HSFC (Hilbert Space Filling Curve), and assigned to membership vector of the peer node. These two features help to support similarity search in two aspects: peer nodes with similar indexing keys would be distributed neighborly, peer nodes with similar indices will connect to each other through routing table. Our evaluation showed that the pService performs considerable Web services discovery efficiency. © 2009 IEEE.

Most existing language modeling approaches are based on the term independence hypothesis. To go beyond this assumption, two main directions were investigated. The first one considers the use of the proximity features that capture the degree to which search terms appear close to each other in a document. Another one considers the use of semantic relationships between words. Previous studies have proven that these two types of information, including term proximity features and semantic relationships between words, are both useful to improve retrieval performance. Intuitionally, we can use them in combination to further improve retrieval performance. Based on this idea, this paper propose a positional translation language model to explicitly incorporate both of these two types of information under language modeling framework in a unified way. In the first step, we present a proximity-based method to estimate word-word translation probabilities. Then, we define a translation document model for each position of a document and use these document models to score the document. Experimental results on standard TREC collections show that the proposed model achieves significant improvements over the state-of-the-art models, including positional language model, and translation language models. © 2014 Springer International Publishing.
