Existing cross-modal hashing still faces three challenges: (1) Most batch-based methods are unsuitable for processing large-scale and streaming data. (2) Current online methods often suffer from insufficient semantic association, while lacking flexibility to learn the hash functions for varying streaming data. (3) Existing supervised methods always require much computation time or accumulate large quantization loss to learn hash codes. To address above challenges, we present an efficient Online lab.l Consistent Hashing (OLCH) for cross-modal retrieval, which aims to incrementally learn hash codes for the current arriving data, while updating the hash functions at a streaming manner. To be specific, an online semantic representation learning framework is designed to adaptively preserve the semantic similarity across different modalities, and a mini-batch online gradient descent approach associated with forward-backward splitting is developed to optimize the hash functions. Accordingly, the hash codes are adaptively learned online with the high discriminative capability, while avoiding high computation complexity to process the streaming data. Experimental results show its outstanding performance in comparison with the-state-of-arts. © 2021 IEEE Computer Society. All rights reserved.

Certificateless cryptography eliminates the key escrow problem in identity-based cryptography. Hierarchical cryptography exploits a practical security model to mirror the organizational hierarchy in the real world. In this paper, to incorporate the advantages of both types of cryptosystems, we instantiate hierarchical certificateless cryptography by formalizing the notion of hierarchical certificateless signatures. Furthermore, we propose an HCLS scheme which, under the hardness of the computational Diffie-Hellman (CDH) problem, is proven to be existentially unforgeable against adaptive chosen-message attacks in the random oracle model. As to efficiency, our scheme has constant complexity, regardless of the depth of the hierarchy. Hence, the proposal is secure and scalab.e for practical applications. © 2010 IEEE.

In a world brimming with new products continually, novel waste types are ubiquitous. This makes current image-based garbage classification systems difficult to perform well due to the long-tailed effects of distribution of garbage types, and necessitates an urgent and efficient garbage classification with abilities of detecting new and rare wastes and class-incremental learning for environmental sustainability. Therefore, we propose a framework of Online System of Garbage Image-Oriented Intelligent Classification, Submission, and Examination, facilitating the incremental garbage classification efforts. In which, to identify novel garbage effectively, we also introduced few-shot object detection method with two key algorithms: Two-Stage Object Detection Learning Algorithm and Dynamic Query-based Incremental Few-shot Learning Algorithm. Our experiment results show that Both outperform the current existing ones in dataset, MS COCO. Then, a strategy of Class-Incremental learning based Residual Network is proposed to meet the need of new waste class-incremental learning. The experimental results support our strategy. Finally, a prototype system employed the above algorithms and the strategy is described.

Graph convolutional networks (GCNs) are a powerful deep learning approach for graph-structured data. Recently, GCNs and subsequent variants have shown superior performance in various application areas on real-world datasets. Despite their success, most of the current GCN models are shallow, due to the over-smoothing problem. In this paper, we study the problem of designing and analyzing deep graph convolutional networks. We propose the GCNII, an extension of the vanilla GCN model with two simple yet effective techniques: Initial residual and Identity mapping. We provide theoretical and empirical evidence that the two techniques effectively relieves the problem of over-smoothing. Our experiments show that the deep GCNII model outperforms the state-of-the-art methods on various semi- and full-supervised tasks. Code is availab.e at https://***/chennnM/GCNII. With the unceasing improvement of data mining and natural language processing technology, more and more researchers devote themselves to comment resources on the Web. While there are no readymade emotional corpora in the financial and securities domain, emotional analysis applied in this field is still rare. As financial information is usually in the form of unstructured Web Text, this paper fully considers characteristics of financial information, and analyzes the emotion of Web Text by calculating their emotional inclination values based on evaluation scores of morpheme. For each document we compute an emotional value. Its symbol indicates the emotional inclination, and its absolute value reflects the emotional intensity. Thus, this can prevent the limitation of lacking emotional corpus in the financial and securities domain. Experimental results demonstrate that this presented scheme optimizes the existing main schemes to effectively analyze the emotional inclinations of Web financial information.

DRAG: Dynamic Region-Aware GCN for Privacy-Leaking Image Detection

The daily practice of sharing images on social media raises a severe issue about privacy leakage. To address the issue, privacy-leaking image detection is studied recently, with the goal to automatically identify images that may leak privacy. Recent advance on this task benefits from focusing on crucial objects via pretrained object detectors and modeling their correlation. However, these methods have two limitations: 1) they neglect other important elements like scenes, textures, and objects beyond the capacity of pretrained object detectors;2) the correlation among objects is fixed, but a fixed correlation is not appropriate for all the images. To overcome the limitations, we propose the Dynamic Region-Aware Graph Convolutional Network (DRAG) that dynamically finds out crucial regions including objects and other important elements, and models their correlation adaptively for each input image. To find out crucial regions, we cluster spatially-correlated feature channels into several region-aware feature maps. Further, we dynamically model the correlation with the self-attention mechanism and explore the interaction among the regions with a graph convolutional network. The DRAG achieved an accuracy of 87% on the largest dataset for privacy-leaking image detection, which is 10 percentage points higher than the state of the art. The further case study demonstrates that it found out crucial regions containing not only objects but other important elements like textures. Extracting emergency events from a large amount of unstructured information is essential for improving early warning and emergency response. Existing event extraction methods for specialist fields often rely on well-designed syntactic dependencies or external knowledge graphs, which can provide high accuracy in their specialist fields. However, these approaches may have poor generalization capabilities and are difficult to apply directly to the emergency field. In addition, most existing methods ignore the interdependencies between event triggers and event arguments, which may be crucial semantic features for event extraction. To solve these problems, we propose a Chinese emergent event extraction method based on contrastive learning with event semantic features(CNEmergEE). Firstly, the proposed approach automatically expands the pre-trained model's vocabulary on a domain corpus. Then, continuing learning on the same corpus allows the model to complete domain adaptation. Finally, we use contrast learning to enable models to learn semantic representations of events. Experimental results on the CEC (Chinese Emergency Corpus) dataset show that our approach achieves better improvement. © 2023 IEEE.

Article Reranking by Memory-Enhanced key Sentence Matching for Detecting Previously Fact-Checked Claims

False claims that have been previously fact-checked can still spread on social media. To mitigate their continual spread, detecting previously fact-checked claims is indispensable. Given a claim, existing works retrieve fact-checking articles (FC-articles) for detection and focus on reranking candidate articles in the typical two-stage retrieval framework. However, their performance may be limited as they ignore the following characteristics of FC-articles: (1) claims are often quoted to describe the checked events, providing lexical information besides semantics;and (2) sentence templates to introduce or debunk claims are common across articles, providing pattern information. In this paper, we propose a novel reranker, MTM (Memoryenhanced Transformers for Matching), to rank FC-articles using key sentences selected using event (lexical and semantic) and pattern information. For event information, we propose to finetune the Transformer with regression of ROUGE. For pattern information, we generate pattern vectors as a memory bank to match with the parts containing patterns. By fusing event and pattern information, we select key sentences to represent an article and then predict if the article fact-checks the given claim using the claim, key sentences, and patterns. Experiments on two real-world datasets show that MTM outperforms existing methods. Human evaluation proves that MTM can capture key sentences for explanations. Diffusion models are powerful generative models, and this capability can also be applied to discrimination. The inner activations of a pre-trained diffusion model can serve as features for discriminative tasks, namely, diffusion feature. We discover that diffusion feature has been hindered by a hidden yet universal phenomenon that we call content shift. To be specific, there are content differences between features and the input image, such as the exact shape of a certain object. We locate the cause of content shift as one inherent characteristic of diffusion models, which suggests the broad existence of this phenomenon in diffusion feature. Further empirical study also indicates that its negative impact is not negligible even when content shift is not visually perceivable. Hence, we propose to suppress content shift to enhance the overall quality of diffusion features. Specifically, content shift is related to the information drift during the process of recovering an image from the noisy input, pointing out the possibility of turning off-the-shelf generation techniques into tools for content shift suppression. We further propose a practical guideline named GATE to efficiently evaluate the potential benefit of a technique and provide an implementation of our methodology. Despite the simplicity, the proposed approach has achieved superior results on various tasks and datasets, validating its potential as a generic booster for diffusion features.
