Nature-inspired population-based stochastic search algorithms (SSA) have demonstrated effectiveness in solving many real-world dynamic optimization problems (DOPs), such as dynamic optimal power flow (DOPF) problems. The basic idea of solving DOPs using SSAs is to 'track the moving optima', rather than solving the changed problems from scratch. Its hidden assumption is that the problems are slightly changed in general, and it is expected that the search process can be accelerated by learning from past search experiences. However, the hidden assumption that the current search process can always benefit from previous search experiences might not be true for certain cases. For example, if the current problem is not similar to any of its previous problems, the historical solutions might not be helpful for the current search. To reduce such negative transfer, the following issues are worthy of study: how to choose which historical problems to learn from, and how to determine the degree of learning from historical problems. To solve the above problems, we propose a dynamic processing framework based on fuzzy rules from the perspective of incorporating human knowledge for optima tracking. The experimental results on the DOPF problems show that the SSA with the proposed optima tracking strategy outperforms other comparative algorithms. Hospital-acquired pressure injury (HAPI) is a se-rious healthcare problem for intensive care unit (ICU) patients, which significantly affects their quality of life and prognosis, and increases hospitalization time and medical expenses. The current prediction models cannot accurately predict the pressure injury (PI) in ICU wards, as these models usually only predict based on the patient's current physical condition and electronic health record data, resulting in poor recall and precision, which affects the prediction performance. To solve this problem, we applied the multivariate time series data of I CU patients from admission to discharge and established a PI prediction model for ICU patients by utilizing the bidirectional long short-term memory neural network (Bi-LSTM) model. Experiments on the MIMIC-III (Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care) dataset show that the Bi-LSTM model has an F1 score of 0.24 and an AUC (Area Under Curve) value of 0.81, which are better than other models. This validates the effectiveness of the Bi-LSTM on the multivariate time series data to predict the occurrence of PI in ICU wards and assist nursing staff to allocate nursing resources more effectively.

RESDSQL: Decoupling Schema Linking and Skeleton Parsing for Text-to-SQL

One of the recent best attempts at Text-to-SQL is the pre-trained language model. Due to the structural property of the SQL queries, the seq2seq model takes the responsibility of parsing both the schema items (i.e., tables and columns) and the skeleton (i.e., SQL keywords). Such coupled targets increase the difficulty of parsing the correct SQL queries especially when they involve many schema items and logic operators. This paper proposes a ranking-enhanced encoding and skeleton-aware decoding framework to decouple the schema linking and the skeleton parsing. Specifically, for a seq2seq encoder-decode model, its encoder is injected by the most relevant schema items instead of the whole unordered ones, which could alleviate the schema linking effort during SQL parsing, and its decoder first generates the skeleton and then the actual SQL query, which could implicitly constrain the SQL parsing. We evaluate our proposed framework on Spider and its three robustness variants: Spider-DK, Spider-Syn, and Spider-Realistic. In the edge-cloud computing, the applications usually are delivered as services, each of which runs independently and can cooperate to construct the complicated applications. However, it is difficult to monitor the services in the decentralized edge-cloud environment since there usually does not exist the central authorization to guarantee trustiness of the service quality data collected. To address the trust issue, the blockchain techniques have been introduced to the service monitoring. Considering the services usually are distributed on the edge nodes, if we deploy only a blockchain on the edge nodes near to the services, it may have to support both the service registration and monitoring because of the loose-coupling principle. That would influence the performance, even would crash the edge nodes. In this paper, we propose a multiple-blockchains based framework, including a registration blockchain that focuses on the service registration and discovery, and a set of monitoring blockchains that focus on the service invocation and monitoring. The registration blockchain is deployed on the cloud nodes, and the monitoring blockchains are deployed on the edge nodes near to the services for collecting efficiently and precisely the service quality data. Based on the cross-chain technology, we design a cross-chain service discovery between the monitoring blockchain and the registration blockchain for finding the services the requesters need. Finally, we implement the registration and monitoring blockchains based on the blockchain platform Cosmos and conduct a set of experiments to show the effectiveness of the proposed framework. © 2021 IEEE.

SGSH: Stimulate Large Language Models with Skeleton Heuristics for knowledge Base Question Generation

knowledge base question generation (KBQG) aims to generate natural language questions from a set of triplet facts extracted from KB. Existing methods have significantly boosted the performance of KBQG via pre-trained language models (PLMs) thanks to the richly endowed semantic knowledge. With the advance of pre-training techniques, large language models (LLMs) (e.g., GPT-3.5) undoubtedly possess much more semantic knowledge. Therefore, how to effectively organize and exploit the abundant knowledge for KBQG becomes the focus of our study. In this work, we propose SGSH — a simple and effective framework to Stimulate GPT-3.5 with Skeleton Heuristics to enhance KBQG. The framework incorporates "skeleton heuristics", which provides more fine-grained guidance associated with each input to stimulate LLMs to generate optimal questions, encompassing essential elements like the question phrase and the auxiliary verb. More specifically, we devise an automatic data construction strategy leveraging ChatGPT to construct a skeleton training dataset, based on which we employ a soft prompting approach to train a BART model dedicated to generating the skeleton associated with each input. Subsequently, skeleton heuristics are encoded into the prompt to incentivize GPT-3.5 to generate desired questions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that SGSH derives the new state-of-the-art performance on the KBQG tasks. The code is now availab.e on Github1 Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Tables, as an important means of data storage, are widely used in spreadsheets, web tables, and PDFs. By integrating information from table data with knowledge re-trieved from an external knowledge base, and examining the correspondences between cell values in the table and instances in the knowledge base, we can extract knowledge from the table to augment and enrich the knowledge base. To achieve this goal, we first need to classify table cells based on their functions in the layout. Due to the diverse structures arising from the arrangements of rows and columns, as well as the complexity of content resulting from concise data storage, current automation techniques heavily rely on stylistic features of table cells, such as font or color. Moreover, these methods are rarely experimented with or validated on tables without style features. Recent literature indicates that large language models (LLMs) demonstrate an ability to understand the structure and content of tables in tasks such as table judgment reasoning. Even without extensive feature inputs or pre-training, LLMs still show comparable results to machine learning and deep learning in these tasks. Therefore, this paper attempts to apply LLMs to table cell classification without using other stylistic features. We have designed a 4-component prompt paradigm (Classification Definition, Instruction, Table, Com-pletion), representing respectively the classification definition, task instructions, table data, and result output. We conduct experiments on three datasets CIUS, SAUS, and DEEX for table cell classification with one-shot learning. Our experimental results show that with the assistance of LLMs, better results can be achieved without utilizing stylistic features.

Individual Tree Detection-and-Counting(ITDC)is among the important tasks in town areas,and numerous methods are proposed in this *** their many advantages,still,the proposed methods are inadequate to provide robust results because they mostly rely on the direct field *** paper presents a novel approach involving high-resolution imagery and the Canopy-Height-Model(CHM)data to solve the ITDC *** new approach is studied in six urban scenes:farmland,woodland,park,industrial land,road and residential ***,it identifies tree canopy regions using a deep learning network from high-resolution *** then deploys the CHM-data to detect treetops of the canopy regions using a local maximum algorithm and individual tree canopies using the region ***,it calculates and describes the number of individual trees and tree *** proposed approach is experimented with the data from Shanghai,*** results show that the individual tree detection method had an average overall accuracy of 0.953,with a precision of 0.987 for woodland ***,the R2 value for canopy segmentation in different urban scenes is greater than 0.780 and 0.779 for canopy area and diameter size,*** results confirm that the proposed method is robust enough for urban tree planning and management.

Event detection (ED) is a key subtask of information extraction to extract key events, such as stock rise and fall and social public opinion, from news or social media. Although current GCN-based event detection methods achieve remarkable success via building graphs with dependency trees, they typically suffer from two challenges: 1) They use sequence models to learn contextual information of sentences, ignoring the longterm dependencies problem of sequence models might learn ineffective information and make it propagate in GCN layers. 2) Most methods do not exploit global dependency lab.l information and grammatical structure information that convey rich linguistic knowledge directly, and only consider local dependency lab.l information. To cope with these challenges, we propose a novel event detection model via semantic-reconstructed graph transformer networks (SRGTNED), which incorporates semantic reconstruction and path information collection methods. Using the semantic reconstruction method, we assign a pruned sequence to each word based on the path information to capture contextual information consistent with sentence semantics. Moreover, to better utilize global dependency lab.l information and grammatical structure information, a Graph Transformer Network (GTN)-based heterogeneous graph embedding framework is introduced to automatically learn path information between important words by converting sentences as heterogeneous graphs. We conduct experiments on the ACE2005 dataset and the Commodity News dataset, and the experimental results demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms 11 state-of-the-art baselines in terms of the F1-score.

Automatically generated questions often suffer from problems such as unclear expression or factual inaccuracies, requiring a reliable and comprehensive evaluation of their quality. Human evaluation is widely used in the field of question generation (QG) and serves as the gold standard for automatic metrics. However, there is a lack of unified human evaluation criteria, which hampers consistent and reliable evaluations of both QG models and automatic metrics. To address this, we propose QGEval, a multi-dimensional Evaluation benchmark for Question Generation, which evaluates both generated questions and existing automatic metrics across 7 dimensions: fluency, clarity, conciseness, relevance, consistency, answerability, and answer consistency. We demonstrate the appropriateness of these dimensions by examining their correlations and distinctions. Through consistent evaluations of QG models and automatic metrics with QGEval, we find that 1) most QG models perform unsatisfactorily in terms of answerability and answer consistency, and 2) existing metrics fail to align well with human judgments when evaluating generated questions across the 7 dimensions. We expect this work to foster the development of both QG technologies and their evaluation. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.
