Influences of normal load, sliding speed and sliding duration on friction coefficient of ultrahigh molecularweight polyethylene (UHMWPE) modified by 5%, 10% and 15% copper (II) complex in mass fraction of bissalicylaldehyde-ethylenediamine (Schiff base copper (II) complex) respectively were investigated on a microtribometer in a speed range of 50~1600 μm/s under conditions of dry friction and vegetable oil lubricated condition. A 100Cr6 steel ball was used as counterpart. Pure UHMWPE was also tested as a reference. Results showed that the friction coefficient of modified UHMWPE with 5%~15% (mass fraction) Schiff base copper (II) complex was independent from normal load at low sliding speeds in dry condition or using vegetable oil as a lubricant. And it was much lower than that of pure UHMWPE, i. e. the friction coefficient of all modified UHMWPE in dry condition had a 29% reduction as compared to that of pure UHMWPE. The results also showed that the effect of sliding speed on friction coefficient under the lubricated condition could be decreased as the content of Schiff base copper (II) complex in the modified UHMWPE was high enough, e. g. 15%. The results showed that the friction coefficient of modified UHMWPE with 5%~15% Schiff base copper (II) complex was independent from sliding speed and sliding duration under dry condition. The stable friction coefficient of the modified UHMWPE at low speeds under dry sliding can meet the requirement of frictional pair for the nanopositioning application.

A vibration reduction system of viscoelastic dampers is introduced into Kewitte single-layer latticed spherical shell (D=60m). Through dynamic FE simulation, the stability of controlled shell and the correspondent uncontrolled one is compared. The different vibration schemes with initial geometric imperfection under different earthquake loadings are especially investigated. The results show that Liapunov stability of controlled shell with viscoelastic dampers can be evidently improved when compared with the uncontrolled shell;the vibration reduction is more obvious when considering the initial geometric imperfection of the shell. The damper's parameters have great influence on the vibration control effort.

Merging area is a typical type of carrying out merging on urban expressway;It is usually a traffic congested bottleneck. Under the heavy traffic demand, it easily occurs when vehicles on the mainline and on ramp contesting the right way without any regulation, and making the 'forced entry' manoeuvre at the junction of merging area. This disturbance results in a severe decrease of traffic capacity. The alternate traffic rules, however, could make an orderly merging. Starting from analysis of merging mechanism, the comparative traffic flow models are established based on the Cellular Automata Model, using alternate rules or no alternate rules. The effects of a new alternate strategy are obtained by numerical simulation. Finally, this paper presents a conclusion that traffic state with these rules is much better than not using these rules, and the capacity is improved to some extent as well.

Electronic records management (ERM) is fundamental to good governance, business efficiency and effectiveness of e-government in networking and digital society. However, government authorities in China has faced many challenges in managing electronic records. A study of ERM in e-government strategy in other countries would be significant to support development of ERM in Chinese e-government strategy. As little is known from literature on the status of electronic records management in e-government strategy, this paper selects U.S, New Zealand and UK for case study by means of collecting and analyzing publications, laws, regulations and policies relevant to both electronic records management and e-government strategy. The author first analyzes status of ERM in e-government strategy and then discusses models and driving forces of their existences. The result of the study revealed that electronic records are managed as national assets, resources and trusted information in the e-government strategy. Driven by core business of e-government in different country, there are different approaches to ERM in e-government strategy. The implications of the study is that, to position ERM in e-government strategy, it is significant to provide a strategic approach to ERM for shared agenda by both government authorities and records management professionals. The findings intended to be of use to both the effective e-government strategy and good ERM for dynamic, interactive and proactive citizen-centered services across domains and time dimensions.
