SA-U-Net++: SAR marine floating raft aquaculture identification based on semantic segmentation and ISAR augmentation

Marine floating raft aquaculture (FRA) monitoring is vital for environment protection and mariculture management. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) could provide high-quality remote sensing images under all weather conditions compared with the existing optical remote-sensing-based methods. Traditional SAR monitoring methods extract the pixel feature of marine FRA in single patches, which commonly leads to poor generalization. We propose a self-Attention semantic segmentation method based on modified U-Net++ (SA-U-Net++) for FRA segmentation, which could automatically extract semantic feature information, and provide superior performance under complicated scenes. The proposed self-Attention backbone could help to extract more precise features and enhance the overall accuracy. Furthermore, we propose a FRA-ISAR data generation method based on inverse SAR (ISAR) imaging to alleviate the sample shortage problem. We introduce the semantic segmentation method into FRA-SAR segmentation for the first time. The experiments verify the effectiveness and superiority of SAR FRA segmentation based on the proposed SA-U-Net++ model compared with the existed semantic segmentation approaches. © 2021 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).

SwimVG: Step-wise Multimodal Fusion and Adaption for Visual Grounding

Visual grounding aims to ground an image region through natural language, which heavily relies on cross-modal alignment. Most existing methods transfer visual/linguistic knowledge separately by fully fine-tuning uni-modal pre-trained models, followed by a simple stack of visual-language transformers for multimodal fusion. However, these approaches not only limit adequate interaction between visual and linguistic contexts, but also incur significant computational costs. Therefore, to address these issues, we explore a step-wise multimodal fusion and adaption framework, namely SwimVG. Specifically, SwimVG proposes step-wise multimodal prompts (Swip) and cross-modal interactive adapters (CIA) for visual grounding, replacing the cumbersome transformer stacks for multimodal fusion. Swip can improve the alignment between the vision and language representations step by step, in a token-level fusion manner. In addition, weight-level CIA further promotes multimodal fusion by cross-modal interaction. Swip and CIA are both parameter-efficient paradigms, and they fuse the cross-modal features from shallow to deep layers gradually. Experimental results on four widely-used benchmarks demonstrate that SwimVG achieves remarkable abilities and considerable benefits in terms of efficiency. UAV-assisted Joint Mobile Edge Computing and data Collection via Matching-enabled Deep Reinforcement Learning

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) and data collection (DC) have been popular research issues. Different from existing works that consider MEC and DC scenarios separately, this paper investigates a multi-UAV-assisted joint MEC-DC system. Specifically, we formulate a joint optimization problem to minimize the MEC latency and maximize the collected data volume. This problem can be classified as a non-convex mixed integer programming problem that exhibits long-term optimization and dynamics. Thus, we propose a deep reinforcement learning-based approach that jointly optimizes the UAV movement, user transmit power, and user association in real time to solve the problem efficiently. Specifically, we reformulate the optimization problem into an action space-reduced Markov decision process (MDP) and optimize the user association by using a two-phase matching-based association (TMA) strategy. Subsequently, we propose a soft actor-critic (SAC)-based approach that integrates the proposed TMA strategy (SAC-TMA) to solve the formulated joint optimization problem collab.ratively. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed SAC-TMA is able to coordinate the two subsystems and can effectively reduce the system latency and improve the data collection volume compared with other benchmark algorithms. Video question answering（VideoQA）is a typical cross-modal understanding task. Its challenge lies in how to learn appropriate multimodal representation and cross-modal correlation for answer inference. Most existing video question answering methods focus on the latter，e. g.，relationship learning between each video frame or clip and word. In this work， we devote to advanced feature embedding of both video and query. We develop a clustering-based VLAD technique for VideoQA. The novelty of our work is the joint exploitation of temporal aggregation and correlation in multimodality. We propose an end-to-end trainable Transformed VLAD embedding network， named TVLAD-Net. TVLAD-Net constructs a differentiable aggregation network module（i. e.， convolutional Residual-less VLAD Block）to generate compact VLAD descriptors（transforming N frames，clips or words to compact K descriptors while K © 2023 Science Press. Investment promotion refers to the process by which the government uses disposable resources to attract investors to the region for production and business activities. The existing basic mode of attracting investment is to collect information about enterprises and entrepreneurs through manual methods, determine the target enterprise from the list of enterprises, and then attract investment through visits, negotiations, and other methods. As contacting and visiting companies one by one requires huge amounts of manpower and time, the choice of target companies is critical for attracting investments. However, to the best of our knowledge, no study has conducted research from the perspective of knowledge-graph-based recommendation. In this study, we define the problem of target company recommendation in the process of investment promotion, and analyze the characteristics of the problem and the challenges it faces based on the background of the actual problem. Then, a two-tier model for solving this problem is provided from the perspective of knowledge graph reasoning. Aiming at the problem that the knowledge graph will frequently change, the model is designed based on the idea of combining the advantages of global and local link prediction. The experimental results on real-world data demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.

lab.l missing is a major challenge in multi-lab.l learning. Many existing methods try to use lab.l correlation to recover ground-truth lab.ls, but they only focus on the lab.l correlation within the original lab.l space, however, the lab.l correlation learned in this way is incomplete. Thus, inspired $b$ y the matrix adaptive column correlation, we propose a method to continuously adjust the lab.l correlation matrix while the lab.ls are filled in by adaptive column correlation learning method. Specifically, to reduce the impact of the missing lab.l s on lab.l correlation, the lab.l space is firstly completed through manifold regularization while learning the local lab.l information by adaptive column correlation learning in the complemented lab.l space. Secondly, the global lab.l correlation is utilized by adding a low-rank constraint to the entire lab.l space. Finally, by jointly taking advantage of the global and adaptive local lab.l correlation, our proposed approach achieves superior performance on both synthetic and real-world data sets from diverse domains compared to state-of-the art baselines.

knowledge representation learning is usually used in knowledge reasoning and other related fields. Its goal is to use low-dimensional vectors to represent the entities and relations in a knowledge graph. In the process of automatic knowledge graph construction, the complexity of unstructured text and the incorrect text may make automatic construction tools unable to accurately obtain the semantic information in the text. This leads to high-quality noise with matched entity types but semantic errors. Currently knowledge representation learning methods assume that the knowledge in knowledge graphs is completely correct, and ignore the noise data generated in the process of automatic construction of knowledge graphs, resulting in errors in the vector representation of entities and relations. In order to reduce the negative impact of noise data on the construction of a representation learning model, in this study, a high-quality noise detection method with rule information is proposed. Based on the semantic association between triples in the same rule, we propose the concept of rule-based triple confidence. The calculation strategy of triple confidence is designed inspired by probabilistic soft logic (PSL). The influence of high-quality noise data in the training process of the model can be weakened by this confidence. Experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed method in dealing with high-quality noise. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Early classification of time series aims to accurately predict the class lab.l of a time series as early as possible, which is significant but challenging in many time-sensitive applications. Existing early classification methods hold a basic closed-world assumption that the classifier must have seen the classes of test samples. However, new samples that do not belong to any trained class may appear in the real world. In this paper, we first address the early classification in an open world and design two detectors to identify which known class or unknown class a sample belongs to. Specifically, based on the observed data, an early known-class detector is designed to determine the known-class confidence and an early unknown-class detector is designed to determine the unknown-class confidence according to the Minimum Reliable Length (MRL) and the Weibull distribution of each class. Experimental results evaluated on real-world datasets demonstrate that the proposed model can identify samples of unknown and known classes accurately and early.

In view of the high-precision and low-damage requirements for surface polishing of hard and brittle components, an abrasive jet polishing process using a novel nozzle with specifically designed shroud was proposed. The removal mechanism of abrasive jet polishing was investigated by simulating the jet flow in the interaction area of the nozzle shroud and workpiece. The simulation results indicate that the velocity of the abrasive jet increases greatly by the shroud and the direction of the jet is aligned almost parallel to the workpiece surface. With such a design, the normal force of the abrasive jet is minimized to reduce the impact damage of the workpiece surface. Further, the stabilized abrasive jet insures a smooth machining. The machining experiments were performed on the quartz glass component, a typical hard and brittle material. The results of the shrouded abrasive jet polishing experiments show that the material removal mainly relied on the shearing and scratching of the workpiece surface rather than the mechanical shock impacts, which is consistent with the simulation findings. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Block-diagonal representation (BDR) is an effective subspace clustering method. The existing BDR methods usually obtain a self-expression coefficient matrix from the original features by a shallow linear model. However, the underlying structure of real-world data is often nonlinear, thus those methods cannot faithfully reflect the intrinsic relationship among samples. To address this problem, we propose a novel latent BDR (LBDR) model to perform the subspace clustering on a nonlinear structure, which jointly learns an autoencoder and a BDR matrix. The autoencoder, which consists of a nonlinear encoder and a linear decoder, plays an important role to learn features from the nonlinear samples. Meanwhile, the learned features are used as a new dictionary for a linear model with block-diagonal regularization, which can ensure good performances for spectral clustering. Moreover, we theoretically prove that the learned features are located in the linear space, thus ensuring the effectiveness of the linear model using self-expression. Extensive experiments on various real-world datasets verify the superiority of our LBDR over the state-of-the-art subspace clustering approaches. © 2013 IEEE.
